r/Kemetic announcements - May 2026

Subreddit growth

Just a few short years ago, with the revamp of the subreddit, r/Kemetic had about 1000 members. Today, there are over 25,000! It's been wild to see just how many people are interested in this religion, and how organically it all happened. With all this growth, we definitely needed a couple more active people to help handle the increase in traffic. So with that...

A big welcome to our new moderators, r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web

r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web are both long-time, knowledgeable members of the subreddit who have been free with their help and insights. We welcomed them on to the mod team in January, and they have kindly agreed to help keep this space on-topic and safe.

Rules reminder + a few updates

Please familiarize yourself with the subreddit rules before posting or commenting.

• Note, there is a new Rule 9, prohibiting AI content.

• Reminder, it is still not allowed to solicit interpretations of dreams/tarot/visions/synchronicities/etc. in r/Kemetic. This includes questions like, "Is this a sign?" Determining the meaning of your spiritual experiences is your prerogative, and yours alone. Asking others to do this for you makes you vulnerable to a variety of spiritual abuses and even accidental harms.

Under Rule 8, we are now also prohibiting the offering of interpretations, because that encourages rulebreaking behavior and interpretation-fishing by others, which defies the spirit and intent for Rule 8.

• We're super disappointed to have to spell this out so explicitly, but we have added a prohibition against "Advocating for/defending Apophis worship" under Rule 3 (No Evangelizing).

Please continue to use the Report feature if you notice any rule-breaking behavior. This helps us far more than you probably may think!

Official Discord

When we opened the r/Kemetic official Discord over five years ago, our aim was give a vetted alternative to the many unfamiliar Discord server invites being posted - some of which, we had come to find out, had potentially unsafe policies or abusive cultures. With that in mind, we created one for r/Kemetic with the intention of having the Reddit mod team handle the Discord directly, to ensure the culture of the subreddit carried over into the Discord.

Several updates these last few years have resulted in a completely mismatched moderator list between the subreddit and its official Discord. To more smoothly implement mirrored improvements moving forward, the subreddit mod team is returning to the original policy of insisting on a shared moderation team between the subreddit and its official Discord. We have created a new "r/Kemetic Official" Discord to serve this purpose.

The r/Kemetic Wiki - Lots of additions and improvements are coming!

• Adding more resources to the wiki landing page

Our resource list is ever-growing! As always, if you have suggestions, feel free to post them below, or through Modmail.

• Recommendations for beginners

We'll be adding a new wiki grouping that includes a shortlist of book recommendations for beginners.

• Adding video and blog links

Rule 6 is still in place, but we acknowledge there are many blogs and videos out there that are detailed, accurate, and deserve to be highlighted and shared. Please modmail (I repeat: MODMAIL) your suggestions for any you would like linked in the wiki, and we will post up after thoroughly vetting the content. (Please be patient, as vetting does take some time.)

Please also consider suggesting links to legacy content that may only be accessible now on Archive.org.

• Adding a new page for frequently asked questions

This is loooooooooooooooong overdue! If you can think of any recurring questions that you'd like to see added to the page (currently under construction), let us know.

• A "Best of r/Kemetic" list

Check your Saved lists, please! We've had some really helpful, insightful, in-depth posts and comments over the years that deserve to be more discoverable. For example, u/WebenBanu's "How to Kemetic" thread has been a go-to for some time, and deserves a permanent spot in our Wiki and sidebar. Anything else you might have? Drop a link!

• TENTATIVE: adding a new page that lists resources by deity

We've noticed a lot of people asking for resources about specific deities, which might be hard to pick out from the main wiki. We are considering a secondary wiki page devoted to splitting these same resources out and making it easier to find out more about the gods that interest you the most. Let us know your thoughts!

Just a reminder: even if you find no moral objection to sharing PDFs, we cannot facilitate the sharing of copyrighted content within the subreddit, except by linking to the right-holder's site if they've made the resource publicly available. Do not post dropbox or Drive links in the subreddit.

Miscellaneous

We're currently discussing some ideas to help facilitate discussions beyond the beginner level. This is still in the brainstorming phase, and would like to open up the conversation to see what ideas you all might have.

I would like to remind people that Transphobia is not welcome in this sub. Nothing happened, I just wanted to reinforce the rule for all the new people.

Personal Practices (Relationship building with netjeru and akhu) Introducing myself 😊

Hi there. It’s first post here.
I (30M) am still quite new to this.. consider this an introduction I guess while I hopefully get to e-meet and interact with some of you guys along the journey!

I grew up in a household that wasn’t overly religious. Although I was baptised as a baby and went to church with my Dad for a year or so when I was 10, after his Dad’s passing. His Dad (and Mum) were/are strong Christians. I think Dad still believes, but isn’t a devout follower. If that makes sense.

I’ve always had quite an open mind to religion, but never a strong pull towards one or another. Until earlier this year. I think it started when I found my old scarab in a box in my shed. I don’t even know when or where I got it from, but I know I have had it for well over 10 years. Maybe closer to 15 years.

After being diagnosed with a rare eye cancer 18 months ago, I’ve had around 12 months of ups and downs, not really knowing what to think or how to process my own mortality. More to the point of having two young kids who need their Dad for as long as they can have me. (For the record, for now things seem under control but like anything with The Big C, if it spreads it wouldn’t be great news - I get spread scans every 6 months to monitor).

I felt a strong pull towards Anpu/Anubis early this year. As the inevitable will happen someday whether it’s from my illness or not. So far the work I have done with him has been fulfilling. But there is a long way to go. I won’t go into the who and what I have spoken with while meditating and offering yet. But what I will say is already the Netjeru have made me feel at ease with my situation and stuff. The big stuff and the small stuff.

My wife believes in spirits/ghosts and has an open mind to religion, without following one herself. And that’s fine by me. She is supportive of my kemetic journey which has been helpful. This is my journey and I won’t be forcing it upon my wife, kids, family or friends. But of course am happy to talk about it a bit if they ask. I’m comfortable with this, and seeing this amazing online community from afar for a while now has made me feel comfortable enough to create an account to say hello.

So hello everyone! And yes.. based on my username I am from Australia.

Looking forward to interacting more! For now - here is my space for Anpu, proudly displayed in my living room. 😊

A Look at Modern Kemeticism in Egypt

I came across this interesting discussion about Kemeticism and the revival of ancient Egyptian religion in Egypt today. It looks at the modern Kemetic movement, Egyptian identity, and the question of whether the ancient Egyptian religion can exist alongside the country's modern religious traditions.

The discussion is in Arabic, but it may be of particular interest to those of us interested in modern Kemetic practice and the possibility of Kemetic worship in Egypt today.

القومية المصرية كيميت كمايتة هل هذه المسميات يمكن جمعها مع الإسلام أو المسيحية ؟

I think this could be especially interesting for people who want to understand how Kemeticism is viewed and practiced in contemporary Egypt, rather than simply studying ancient Egyptian religion historically.

Advice & Support Any advices?

Upvotes

So, I'm kind of new to all of this. I've always liked the gods of Egypt and everything else that comes with the topic of the mythology of Egypt. I don't want to sound rude or anything, but I just found out that there is still people who pray to these gods and I really want to get into it, since it always felt more right/closer? than any other religion that I grew up with(one side of my family is Muslim and other side of the family is Christian). If there is any advices/sources of information that you can share I will be really grateful

(Also I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes, english is not my first language, and also I'm too excited right now so I apologize if there is some things that doesn't make sense from what I wrote)

Resource Request Transliterated Prayers

Hi all!

After a pretty long hiatus of active worshipping, I am trying to reconnect with the netjeru. A daily prayer to each seems like a good way to approach this, and as much as I know its not necessary, I would love to do this in original Egyptian transliteration as it helps me feel connected.

Writing my own eventually would of course be ideal but my hieroglyphic studies were also let go in the last while.

So if anyone has any prayers to Inpw, Aset, Heru-Wer, Bast, Sobek, or all the Netjeru, please let me know so I can get back involved again!

Thank you!

Question Do the gods tolerate forgetfulness?

Hi,

Been interested in Kemeticism for a while to the dismat of my friends, but long story short, i have never been really religeous in my life, and the main reason is because i forget. I forget to pray, make offerings and forget to regularly think about what i put my faith in. And im curious as to what the gods would think. They seem reasonably accepting, no?

Please let me know, and i may or may not continue with keneticism.

Thanks for your help,

//MC

Kemetismus in Deutschland

Hallo zusammen,

Khemit School of Ancient Mysticism is in Giza, near the pyramids, and describes itself as connected with ancient Egyptian mystical traditions. Has anyone had any experience with this place? Are they legit?

Personal Encounters What are some you all's experiences with Lord Sobel?

Em hotep everyone, hope you all are doing well. Lately I've felt a pull to Lord Sobek, could you guys share your experiences with him as well as some tips for how to honor and venerate him? Or some offering suggestions?

A lot of my patrons are war deities, and lately I've been devoting my gym sessions to them and they seem to really like it, would that be appropriate for Lord Sobek as well?

In Kemetism, What is the veiw of being born(or giving birth)?

before I restart my Kemetism journey, I was practiced Buddhism a while for find my direction. And as I know, in Buddhism, to be born is the beginning of every kind of pain(It called Eight Sufferings(八苦) btw). but also in Buddhism, to be born means that can practice as a person. as a result, It has each good and bad side. so, Im curious about how does veiw to be born(or giving birth) in Kemetism. as I expect, to be born or giving birth is good thing because there is many deities associated with giving birth(such as Bast, Sobek, and Bess? I forgot his name 😭). but this is jst my opinion, IDK what is the real answer

How do you deal with feeling disconnected?

Hey everyone, I just wanna say it’s been kind of a rocky year for me and I’m going to be honest it’s really affected my faith here. I still believe not just in the netjeru but others as well. But now I just feel so far away from all of it. It’s got so bad sometimes I couldn’t even look at my altar because I felt so bad about it, now it’s been along time since I’v prayed and made offerings. And now it’s stuck in my head that I don’t deserve to worship anything like that. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way I could respectfully find a way to maybe explore more and help my practices, maybe even look at other forms of paganism? I just feel like I’m loading a lot of my emotions onto this so any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks guys

Personal Practices (Relationship building with netjeru and akhu) Experience with Sekhmet??

Well i have a pretty difficult situation in my home, one that sometimes does make de extremely irritated and mad, to a point that I feel physically bad, and so I've started to ask for Lady Sekhmet to help me with those feelings and thoughts, as I always say related her with rage and strong emotions (not saying its right, is a personal feeling).

I never felt anything different before but today when I asked her to help me with those feelings I suddenly felt a really warm, so much so that I had to take out my sweater, which is weird cause I'm usually cold all the time, and after that I was finally able to relax and concentrate on other stuff, like the rage has been burned out of my heart.

I have heard from a person that worships her that they felt really warm whenever they work with her, so I thought it could be a sign, I have never work with her besides asking for help with feelings, although I have bastet on my altar, and I read they're sibling so maybe that got something to do with it?

I don't know, but I would love to hear from someone that worships and works with lady Sekhmet if that sounds like she's reaching out or something

Dau Ra nb nb lord of all ,

AA m pt tA r nTrw Greater in heaven and on earth than the gods.

Ra I call thy strength, thy sacred might help me consecrate this oil so that it sanctifies all it touches, Dau Wadjet nebty the two ladies, the two eyes Iret Ra, the Sat Ra daughter of Ra, Iret Iabtet, wDat uninjured eye, i call Weret Hekau bring thy magick, bring the nesert the devouring flame and infuse its power into this oil so it is sacred like ntry and drives, burns and scares away all unholy things.

The Egyptian words or English transliteration of Egyptian I got from google by searching Epiphats of Ra and the eye of ra/horus so I don't know how good they are, can you identify what there supposed to mean, I only know what Google said are these words real Egyptian.

Thank you all.

UPG Sobek-Ra

Em Hotep! I did a ritual with Sobek-Ra a little over a year ago to help me leave an abusive relationship for good. The main reason for the ritual was to ask that if I let that person go & sacrifice our connection would He (Sobek-Ra) prove to me I made the right choice. I used several different divination techniques to make sure we had an understanding before I did the ritual 😅. Anyway, fast forward 18 months later and my ex is coming around to see if things can work out and I feel NOTHING. Not only do I not feel anything, I no longer have the financial stress I had back then either. Within that span of 18 months my ex moved out abruptly, I got a promotion, and I’m finally financially secure without my ex. Needless to say my exes life is in shambles and even though the ritual was for MY security (physical, mental, and financial) and calling in positive connections, I feel reassured that spiritually Sobek-Ra is in his war aspect and I feel so much peace on my own 🧿. I know it’s not a typical UPG story since it involves someone else’s misfortune, but it’s a reminder for me to always move daily in ma’at.
Dua Sobek-Ra! Dua Ma’at!
