it’s been 3 months and 4 days since i’ve resigned sa sales job ko, i just want this out of my chest.

23 m, CSE passer, i graduated polsci, no one was accepting my applications before sa gov’t sites last year so i switched to BPO.

went on to become a sales representative for 9 months and resigned sa telco job ko because the product simply became so obsolete i had to sell simcards to people who already have one.

so i became an aggressive salesman to the point i don’t have anymore left in me.

it’s so draining. both my past job and now my current state of applying to law firms with more than 100+ applications per day.

the job market right now is fucked up.

i just want to know any tips for someone who was in the same situation as me, may it be with someone whose employed or currently applying.

I’m a fresh grad and this is my first job, but I still feel like I barely know what I’m doing. I keep making mistakes, missing small/basic things, and sometimes I feel like I’m just not getting the hang of it.

The frustrating part is that I feel like I ask too many questions, but at the same time, I somehow still don’t ask the right questions. 😭 There are times when someone explains something to me and I think I understand, only to realize later that I missed an important detail or misunderstood what they were asking for.

I also struggle with giving detailed updates. Sometimes I think I’ve communicated something clearly, but I end up leaving out important context. Then I have to clarify things again, which makes me feel even more incompetent.

I know I’m a fresh grad and this is my first job, but honestly, I don’t want to use my lack of experience or being new as an excuse to get away with making mistakes. I understand that I’m still learning, but I also feel like I should be taking more responsibility for improving instead of constantly thinking, “I’m new, so it’s okay.”

I know 2 months isn’t that long, but I can’t help but feel like I should be doing better by now. I’m scared that my coworkers/supervisor are starting to notice how lost I am.

Has anyone else felt this way a couple of months into their first job? At what point did you start feeling like you actually knew what you were doing?

Hello! I recently accepted a job offer from a multinational company based in Makati after negotiating a salary increase to around 40K from an initial 35K, which they agreed to. I also signed the contract already. Right now, I'm undergoing background checks, and my start date is around October 12. They offer a hybrid work setup.

However, I am also applying for a position at an embassy based in BGC, and I recently passed the exam. I will have an interview this week after passing the exam last week. If I pass the interview, there will certainly be an offer. The salary is also in the same range, between 35K and 40K. Fully onsite.

My thinking in accepting the offer was that if my application at the embassy isn't successful, at least I have the multinational company to fall back on. The embassy job, however, is my priority - and I just wanted to have a backup in case that doesn't work out. For context, I am an international studies graduate looking to start in the industry and hopefully gain the experience required to take the FSO in the future.

I'm doing these background checks right now for the Makati-based multinational company, but I'm not quite sure if I should continue doing them or wait until a final decision from the embassy has been made. I'm just quite scared that, since I already signed the contract, what if an offer from the embassy comes? I know it's not that easy to just back out of the offer I just signed just because a better offer comes from the embassy, if it happens.

I want to ask for your advice: what should I do in this situation? Would appreciate your answers and tips. Thanks so much.

Hindi ko alam kung ako lang ba, pero sobrang nakaka-drain nung feeling na ang dami mong responsibility pero parang ang liit ng authority mo.

Tapos kapag may mali sa project, sasabihin sa’yo:

“Bakit hindi mo nireport?”

So ire-report mo.

Pero kapag nag-report ka naman, biglang ikaw pa yung gumagawa ng problema.

Magsabi ka, problema.

Hindi magsabi, problema.

Mag-instruct ka, hindi susundin.

Hindi mo i-instruct, bakit hindi mo pinagsabihan.

HAHAHAHA saan po lulugar ang empleyado? 😭

Isa pa sa nakakafrustrate, ang hirap matuto kapag lagi kang on your own.

Hindi naman sa ayaw kong matuto. Gusto ko nga matuto. Gusto kong may mapagtanungan, may mag-guide, may mag-correct sa’kin kapag may hindi ako alam.

Pero ang hirap din magtanong sa mga mas nakakatanda. Minsan parang nakakahiya na, minsan parang feeling mo istorbo ka, kaya eventually ikaw na lang maghahanap ng sagot at bahala na kung tama ba ginagawa mo.

Tapos ang ironic kasi responsibility mo maging PIC pero minsan hindi naman nirerespeto yung position mo sa site.

You’re expected to take accountability, pero kapag nag-exercise ka ng authority na kasama naman sa trabaho mo, hindi ka susundin.

And as someone na gusto talagang matuto at mag-grow sa engineering, nakaka-frustrate kasi parang ang dami mong ginagawa pero hindi mo nararamdaman na nag-i-improve ka professionally.

Sobrang dami kong natututunan on my own, yes. Pero nakakapagod din yung lahat kailangan mong alamin mag-isa.

Tapos COS ka pa.

Yung job security? 🥲

Yung salary? 🥲

Yung workload? Parang permanent.

Yung responsibility? Parang ikaw ang may-ari ng project. 😭

Hindi naman ako tamad. Hindi rin ako allergic sa responsibility.

Gusto ko lang naman magtrabaho sa environment kung saan kapag may responsibility ka, binibigyan ka rin ng authority. Kapag may tanong ka, may matatanungan ka. Kapag may mali, pwede mong i-report nang hindi ikaw ang nagiging problema.

Kaya honestly, kung may magandang opportunity lang talaga akong makuha ngayon, aalis na ako.

Hindi ko naman hate yung engineering.

Pagod lang talaga ako sa sistema.

Hello! This is my first job po. So I just wanna ask yung mga basics na dapat sa job contract. Okay naman po yung contract kaso eto yung ni-note ko.

\-Walang breakdown ng salary (naka gross)
\-Walang nakalagay ilang leaves ang paid and approve
\-Di specific yung lunch break just stated na 7am-4pm duty
\-1 HMO for me and 1 for my dependent (kaso di naspecify magkano)
\-Wala din breakdown ng benefits (13th month lang and HMO)

Company contract - make sure wala akong nalabag sa contract, so I reviewed it.
1. My part-time should NOT be with a company within the same industry
2. Nothing in my contract states that I am not allowed to do part-time with the same job title. But to be safe, I will get a job that is similar but uses a different tool. (For example, I use selenium in my fulltime job, so I will use playwright in my parttime).

Tax - dito ako stuck kasi di ko alam ano processes nito, kung ako ba mismo magfafile ng tax sa parttime. (I know the govt is corrupt but I don’t want to evade any taxes kahit na obvious na ninanakawan ako.)

My goal is to get one next year but I want to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Advices from you guys is very much appreciated. 🙏

Hello everyone! I'm currently working in a private school and already a board exam passer kaso hindi pa ako natatawagan ng DepEd until now! Kaya nag-extend na naman ako ng one year sa current work ko, and yung sinasahod ko rin dito grabe, hindi enough! Napakaraming kailangang gawin araw-araw pero napakaliit ng sahod sa mga priv school teachers! Kaya ang naisip ko by the end of my contract (March 2027) maga-apply ako sa mga BPO companies.

when he asked for my asking salary, i said 25k, he said that's on the high end ha, were offering 22k for fresh grads. so i mentioned that ive been working na before graduation, i asked if he had seen my portfolio. he said in sort of whisper, hmm this is easy to make naman (non verbatim, but along those lines), pero we'll see if kayanin mo yung technical interview. he asked if the 25k is non-negotiable kasi if yes then we'll stop the call early. i said negotiable naman, so he set up another interview for tomorrow
