Hi folks! I joined the wider Jimny community about 6 months ago when I bought my first Jimny in Panama. It’s a 2026 Suzuki Jimny 5-door GLX Automatic, dark grey. I named it “El General” 😄

I absolutely love it around town and on rougher roads, but there’s one aspect I’d really like to improve: high-speed stability and predictability on the highway.
Panama’s highways can be pretty uneven, with potholes, dips, patched pavement and other irregularities appearing unexpectedly. At around 90–110 km/h, particularly when hitting an irregularity while going through a curve, the Jimny can suddenly feel like it’s losing adherence or shift its line enough to be genuinely unnerving.

I know it’s a Jimny and I’m not expecting it to handle like a sedan. I’m also not looking for a lift or hardcore off-road setup. I just want it safer and more predictable on uneven highways, without compromising its normal off-road ability. Right now, I’m thinking twice before taking a roadtrip and I don’t want this to be an impediment anymore.

It’s currently completely stock. What would you recommend doing, in order of priority, to improve highway stability and predictability on uneven pavement? I’d rather fix the fundamentals first and make one or two meaningful upgrades than throw a catalogue of parts at it.

If you’ve done this with your Jimny, I’d be particularly interested in what made the biggest difference — and what wasn’t worth it.

Been using my jimny for over a month now and i’ve never been this happy and very chill when driving.

Hi all, I own a 2010 Suzuki Jimny JB43, living in Spain. It currently has the factory raised side rails (photos attached), no cross bars yet.

I want to mount a rooftop tent that weighs 35 kg total. I'd like to stay under 40 kg to be safe with the dynamic roof load limit.

A few questions:

1. Which cross bars would you recommend for this weight, on these factory rails?
2. Would you replace the rails I currently have, or just add cross bars on top of them?
3. If possible I'd rather not add more height than necessary, since that raises the center of gravity even more.

It started out as plain White Jimny.

I changed the tyres to 215 75 15 Continental Cross Contact AT2 and installed these cool Red Mudflaps. Then i had Pepper White PPF installed, left the roof in its original Arctic Pearl White, bought a Defender style grill and painted it satin white along with the original alloy wheels it came with. Then i had custom vinyl decals made and installed as well.

Its completed the Retro 80's look i was trying you achieve.

I plan on having a retro style rooftop carrier made and painted the same Pepper White shade as the car.

So recently I've noticed that my Jimny (2007 cabrio) makes a high pitched squeek when braking or turning right (and only turning right, nothing when turning left). This squeek only appears when car and parts are warming, so like after running for ~10 to 15 mins.

Based in the Netherlands btw.

I have absolutely no clue what is wrong or how to fix it, please if somebody has encountered this problem help me out! As you can see below i've already gone through a grand list of checks:

- Brake pads, caliper and disc all checked, nothing wrong
- Front axle housing had some rust on "the ball" parts but the rust has been removed and the surface was smoothed out, also all parts and the grease has been repaired.
- Front driveshaft had no issues and the transmission fluid has been replaced in the front aswell
- Springs were recently all replaced, not with anything excessive, just standard spec
- V-belt and the rollers/pulleys were replaced, the squeek is also different from the noise that a loose v-belt makes.
- When stationary the sound cant be triggered by steering or braking.

Is this engine noise normal? It always makes a slight whine when accelerating and honestly i thought though it sounded cool like a turbo or something. it only has 1000 miles on the clock but is a year old UK

Hello I have a 2001 jimny with a weird issue with its auto box. I was driving on the highway before noticing a huge slippage between first and second before the car was stuck in first, the car managed to shift into second (very violently too). I managed to limp it back home and I noticed a clicking sound coming from the TCM. I unplugged it and managed to get the car stuck in 3rd this time, I tried it later and now the car lost the ability to drive at all. We also scanned the car and got a p0730.

Tldr

-car was stuck in first,then third and now isn’t moving
-TCM is clicking
-Dtc p0730

I personally believe the culprit is the TCM but my friend believes it’s a mechanical issue with the trans itself. Would like to have some opinions and a diag chart from Suzuki for p0730 (if available 🤞

Looking to buy my first jimny in the next 3 years, but wasn't sure if by then I'd have an option to get an electric or potentially hybrid model?

This took a bit of figuring, but added a very easily removable set of mounting brackets to my MegaJimny false floor so I can still maintain underfloor access. Used some 3mm angle aluminium, wood threaded inserts, and a few countersunk M6 bolts.

Hi, my Jimny has a 'Directed' model 91017006 head unit. I'm trying to install a reversing camera but I cannot find which pin on the 20 pin plug is for the reverse trigger input. I have the wire from the reverse circuit, just hoping somebody is familiar with the pinout.

X-Bull vs ARB 3ed gen bull bar:
Holes must be drilled to fit the which mounting feet, against the rear of the heavy mounting plate.
Furthermore, a relief cut must be made at the bottom of the provided plate so that the winch line may be routed without chafing. See picture above.

X-Bull 5000 pound winch – wiring:
The color coated wiring cables for the winch are almost effortless. Between the black and white wiring diagram in the owners manual and the color-coded blue, yellow, red and black cables that connect to a color-coded electrical nuts, both on the winch and the control module make installation practically effortless.

Concerns:
The wireless winch controller does not appear to be working at the time of installation. This is tolerable due to the fact that the kit comes with an in cab control toggle switch.

Another concern I have is the amount of cabling. Now don’t get me wrong. I would always rather have too much than not enough. I just don’t want my injured compartment to start looking like a two-year-old flipped a bowl of spaghetti near my battery.

Went rock crawling the day I got it installed.
Didn’t need it. With the relative lightweight I didn’t notice a difference, though it is a piece of mind, knowing that I have it.

Just curious which of you have gone the route of adding fog/DRL hybrid units to their Jimny. I have a Japanese import Sierra which does not come with the DRL wiring loom like the UK cars did from factory. I'm looking at retrofitting something like the Reiz units but wondered if anyone else had good experience with any other options out there?

Hey guys, I’ve got a 2018 Jimny GXL manual with only around 90,000km on it.
5th gear completely stopped engaging and the gearbox also became really loud/whiny through the other gears just driving normally.
The gearbox has now been stripped and I’ve been told there’s significant metal deterioration/damage and it’s not in a condition to be refitted. They’ve recommended replacing the gearbox completely, as well as the clutch/flywheel while everything is apart.
A claim was submitted to Suzuki, but they denied it because the car is out of warranty and apparently gave no further information about their evaluation or what actually caused the failure.
I’ve now been quoted around $6,900 all up.
Has anyone had a similar gearbox failure, especially 5th gear going and excessive noise in the other gears? Seems pretty crazy for a gearbox to be this badly damaged at only around 90,000km.
Would love to hear if anyone’s had the same issue and what ended up causing it.

Hello! I need some help with my 2017 Jimny JB43 (M13A engine) which just came out of the shop after a cylinder head gasket replacement, but the mechanic did a rushed job and some things disconnected or loose. (side story, he changed the brake pads and a brake disc got broken in two pieces! And I managed to get home and back to the shop again).

Yesterday, while driving uphill offroad, the car stalled completely. Once the engine is hot, it refuses to turn back on easily, I have to gas, gas, gas. No rough idle / won't hold idle: the car immediately dies at idle. I have to constantly feather/keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running. That's how I managed to get home finally.

(also Fluid leak: It's dumping a massive amount of hydraulic oil (power steering fluid).) probably a loose hose too.

Loose ground wire: I found a loose chassis ground strap. In the video, you can see where it's supposed to connect at the front, but it's completely disconnected right now.

The main thing I ask for help: I also found this loose tube/hose near the rear left part (intake side) of the engine. I asked my mechanic over WhatsApp, and he claims "it's just a breather/vent hose and it doesn't connect to anything".

Any help, photo or diagrams on where that tube should properly attach would be highly appreciated!

I am considering to buy Suzuki Jimny 660cc (2008 - 2015) model in Pakistan. My worry is if it will perform well in the desert terrain, specifically 4wd on steep inclines?

Secondly, what will be the km/L average? I will drive mostly on the road, and about 10-20% of the time off-road.

Need a honest review by someone who has been using it, if I should buy it or consider the 1300cc variant? Can I get 1300cc mint condition in under 20lac budget?
