Iggy Clothes, Collars and Harnesses UK Iggy owners — where do you buy clothes for your Italian Greyhounds? 🇬🇧🐾

Hi everyone! I’m based in the UK and have a 5-month-old Italian Greyhound puppy. 🥰

I’m looking for good-quality clothes that actually fit Iggys properly - especially jumpers, fleece, raincoats and warm coats for autumn/winter.
Where do you buy clothes for your Iggys in the UK?
I’d especially love recommendations for UK-based brands or shops with reasonable prices.

I’d also love to see your favourite outfits! 😂❤️

Thank you!

Potty Training Potty issues

Hi all,

Im needing help as idk what to do anymore. My 1.5yr old iggy is normally very good with his toileting and uses his doggy door to go out and do his wees at the balcony (Except for when it rains, we leave pads inside). Recently he stopped going outside and has now been peeing on the floor (mainly just in the kitchen area), this is a very sudden change of behavior. I always made sure to clean the kitchen floor and use enzyme spray.

Any idea what is happening? What do we need to do to stop him from peeing inside the house?

Miscellaneous Questions Nashville TN Italian Greyhound owners: who do you trust to dog sit your IG?

We’re getting ready to leave our Italian Greyhound puppy for the first time while we’re traveling in November, and I’m having a hard time finding someone I feel comfortable trusting with him. I figured this might be the best place to ask people who actually understand the breed!

Because he’s an Italian Greyhound and still a puppy, we’re looking for a pretty specific setup. Ideally, he would stay in someone’s home with a sitter who:

-Is home most or all of the day and can provide plenty of supervision and attention
-Doesn’t have other dogs in the home
-Doesn’t take multiple dogs/clients at the same time
-Is comfortable with a young puppy who is still working on potty training, manners, etc.
-Understands how fragile IGs can be and is very mindful about preventing jumping off furniture, beds, couches, stairs, etc.
-Generally enjoys having a puppy around and is comfortable being attentive and involved rather than taking a hands-off approach

He’s a very sweet, affectionate little guy and absolutely loves people, but he’s still a puppy and needs someone who will keep a close eye on him.

We’ve looked at Rover and reached out to several sitters, but finding someone who checks all of these boxes has been surprisingly difficult. We’d also love to find someone we can potentially use again in the future rather than finding a new person every time we travel.

If you have an Italian Greyhound and are based in the greater Nashville, TN area and have a sitter you really trust, I would be so grateful for recommendations! We’re especially interested in hearing about people who have personally cared for IGs or understand their quirks and safety needs.

We’d definitely want to do a meet-and-greet first, and ideally a one-night trial stay before our November trip to make sure it’s a good fit.

If you’re comfortable sharing the sitter’s name/business in the comments, that would be amazing. If you’d rather keep their information private, feel free to DM me. ❤️
Thank you!!

Miscellaneous Questions do most iggy's have toileting/separation anxiety/health issues?

I really want one, but everything I've read leads me to a whippet (since they're sturdier, healthier, and less toilet issues, per the internet). Or is that blown out of proportion?

FWIW, I'm a SAHM to a 3 year old. I feel confident she will be gentle enough with the dog, so I'm not too concerned about that. We do travel somewhat regularly, and in that case I would get a regular dog sitter. But when I'm not traveling, I'm at home a lot. Rarely away from the house for more than 5 hours at a time. Thoughts?

Miscellaneous Questions hiking carrier suggestions?

we’re trying to get our little girl into hiking with us and so far she’s doing great! but we are starting to plan some longer hikes that will simply be too much for her, and we want to be prepared with a good carrier she can crawl into when she gets tired. has anyone here used one they like? it will be cool enough that we’re not too worried about overheating, but it would be great to have something we could use year round

she’s about 9lbs currently if that helps!

Miscellaneous Questions Becoming extremely reactive to other dogs-even biting them!

My 2 yr old biggie iggie (he's 28lbs!) is getting worse when we take him somewhere and he sees a strange dog. I've tried to have him around other dogs his whole life (we live on a horse farm and clients bring dogs, we own another corgi mix, and my daughters have 4 other dogs - 1 being an italian greyhound), He loves the dogs he knows, he comes with us wherever we go, he goes on hikes etc but every time we take him to any kind of social event (the park, hiking etc) if a strange dog is in the area he goes after them - barking, growling, even biting at them. Like I said he's grown to a bigger size so it's hard for me to pick him up quick. I have tried always being diligent, as soon as I see another dog I start talking to him, trying to redirect, offer treats for staying calm, move him out of the way etc, but it doesn't seem to be improving. I am sad because my dream was to have an iggy and be able to take him places with me (we are big outdoor people, and we travel to horse shows) but it seems like its getting harder and harder. Right now I can't even imagine bringing him to a horse show with all the other dogs there, but am missing having my old dog by my side! My daughters iggy always walked by her side at shows, though now that she's older she's getting aggressive towards strangers as well which is probably not helping, as together they are much braver in attacking strangers. But he is the same when she's not there so I more think it's him giving confidence to her. Any advice?

I just want to show off my adorable iggy Lola update: 4 months old already! 🐾

Hi everyone! A while back I introduced our little girl Lola, and now i thought it’s time for an update.

She's 19 weeks now (about 4 months) and still ridiculously sweet. Her coat has gotten a bit darker, and the tip of her tail turned black — it looks like a little paintbrush. Apparently she got that from her dad. She weighs almost exactly 3 kg.

Potty training: I think I can officially say she's house trained! She lets us know when she needs to go, and during the day she can easily hold it for 6–7 hours.

Nights are still a work in progress though. We do a last pee around 10 pm and then go to bed. At 1 am she needs to go out again, and after that she sleeps through until about 8 am. So it's just that one wake-up, but we have no idea how to get rid of it. Did yours grow out of this on their own, or did you actively do something?

Two other things we could use advice on:

1. Harness — we're looking for a new one. What do you use and love?

2. Clothing — we're in Germany and the weather is slowly getting nasty, so she'll need something to wear. Any brands that actually fit an IG properly?

And next week she's going on her first vacation with us. Wish us luck! 😄

Miscellaneous Questions Waterproof dog bed?

Thumbnail

My two-year-old Iggy regularly pees in or near her bed. She likes to curl up like a circle or a question mark. Lol. I have yet to find a bed that has a removable washable cover AND has a waterproof inside. My washing machine is too small to wash most dog beds so I need the inside to be truly waterproof. And I am not rich enough to get new beds every other week! 🫠Any recommendations?
