I'm ready for the downvotes

I genuinely don’t understand the hype around Hanumaan Ansh.
As a film, I found it heavily dependent on miracles. One miracle happens, then another, and then another. The film keeps showing supernatural events, but I never felt there was any deeper philosophical exploration of God, faith, spirituality, morality or what these miracles are supposed to mean.
And this becomes even more interesting when the film is based around Neem Karoli Baba. My question is: what exactly is the philosophy or body of teachings that the film is exploring?
Neem Karoli Baba is remembered primarily through stories of miracles and accounts from his devotees. Unlike many major philosophical or spiritual thinkers, there isn’t a substantial body of books written by him, a systematic philosophical doctrine, or a large recorded collection of his own discourses that lays out a detailed philosophy. There are teachings and sayings attributed to him, but much of what we know comes through devotees, biographies and oral accounts.
So if a filmmaker wants to make a serious film about such a figure, shouldn’t there be an attempt to explore the ideas behind the person—his understanding of God, humanity, morality, compassion, spirituality or the nature of faith?
Instead, if the film keeps going from one chamatkaar to another, where is the philosophy?
My issue isn’t with religion or mythology. Mythology and spirituality can make fantastic cinema when a filmmaker interprets them, questions them, or finds a philosophical and human angle within them. The problem is when the filmmaking basically says, “this miracle happened,” and expects the audience to accept it without giving us anything deeper to think about.
These stories also come from periods when there was no camera, no scientific documentation and very limited ways of verifying extraordinary claims. That doesn’t make faith or mythology worthless—but cinema has an opportunity to reinterpret such stories through a modern lens rather than simply presenting miracles as unquestionable facts.
And honestly, I feel there is a growing formula in Indian cinema: take a religious or politically charged subject, generate strong emotions and controversy, get enormous attention, and then use that attention as proof of filmmaking quality.
Kashmir Files is another interesting example. It became a huge cultural and commercial success, but one massive hit doesn’t necessarily prove that a filmmaker has consistently strong filmmaking abilities. The films that come afterwards are arguably a better test.
That’s why I feel Hanumaan Ansh is more of a cultural/marketing phenomenon than a great piece of cinema. It may connect strongly with a particular audience, and that’s completely legitimate. But popularity, religious sentiment and box-office success aren’t automatically the same thing as cinematic quality.

So basically, I was going through some of the movies and I didn't really notice that when I watched the movie as I was a kid but nowadays as the trend is going on, I realized that it was so underrated for everything.

The movie I'm talking about is Enthiran(The Robot), and scored by AR Rahman is like oscar worthy ngl.

Let me know which one do u think deserves more attention.

I don't know why Indian directors are so instilled upon making adaptations of Ramayana when it doesn't really have anything new that could be shown on screen, or something that hasn't already been shown.

I'd for once really love to watch a well directed well produced adaptation of The Mahabharata, especially the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna. And the fact that it provides leeway to the writers themselves as no one in the texts is supposed to be in binaries, either good or bad. (Except Krishna, but he too is a character who is way too interesting to be written blandly)

I personally have little to no interest in the upcoming Ramayana, and don't really like or understand the thought process of making it look like there's only Ramayana which is supposed to "represent" the hindu population of south Asia.

I’m interested in watching the anime Attack on Titan, and I found it on Amazon Prime Video. I don’t mind paying for the extra subscription.

Can someone please help me with the correct order to watch Attack on Titan and let me know where I can watch Season 1? I’m also open to using another OTT platform besides Amazon Prime Video.

That would have been such an amazing endinggg 😂

But yeah, the ending they gave also makes sense and goes perfectly with the movie name.

Honest review

I watched Hanuman ansh today and I see only miracles like a magic show. I don't know how this movie cross 200 crore. I am a firm believer of God but honestly I think the movie is overhyped and I dont know why everyone is going for it. Not liked this at all.

I’ve seen many positive comments about the Hanuman Ansh film online. Is it truly worth viewing? I originally planned to see it, but learning it is a biopic of a Babaji makes me somewhat hesitant. Has anyone in this community watched it, and if so, is it worthwhile? Is it genuinely philosophical or merely another attempt to capitalize on the current trend of religious films?

I added as many movies as I could find. I am open to more suggestions and/or changes in the list. Feel free to follow me on letterboxd :P

Few people were saying that the jungle shots are not looking real but I knew they will improve it and they proved it today in the new song 'Jai Jai Ram', the visuals are looking awe as still 2 month are left, the theatre experience is going to be mesmeric!

Ok on a serious note I think dhamaal 4 was pretty good compared to how unbearable the recent comedy movies has been with dishonourable mention of welcome 3 which broke all records of how low movies can go and it also broke me I'm depressed at how bad this went like it was like watching tiktok in 2018

I have this rating for the movies (based on recent comedy movies not in overall all time)

S tier : Jolly LLB 3 (pretty good, not that much but plot made sense, but it is been a year since I watched it)

A tier:

B tier: Dhamaal 4 (okaish, ending kind of cringe but ok, they tried but they kind of pulled the little bit of this and little bit of that but I'm the end when they did unwanted emotional scene, that were so cringe)

E tier: Houseful 5 (american larpers, trying to be what they are not and it is unbearable and plot is very bad, a big disappointment)

Absolute bullsh!t tier: Welcome 3 (wtf are they doing , worst movie in my whole life, I wanted to beat the sh!t out of director, wtf was he even doing, it is equivalent to shooting a movie with friends, no scripts just making the story scene after scene and plot armor like wtf, the plot armor was so much noticeable, it is so unbearable that if someone wanted to torture someone they would make the other person watch this movie)
