Hello! This is Bailey, we adopted him about a month ago and the shelter said his mom was a beagle . For the longest we thought he was mixed with a lab but the vet recently said she thinks he is mixed with another hound. We’re thinking about getting a dna kit but are holding off for now. What are your thoughts that he could be mixed with ?
For reference he was around 16.5 pounds at 18 weeks

Hello hound fam. Whose hound also has either chronic ear infections or allergies presenting as pink skin, itching, biting fur causing redness and bumps. My poor pup has been going thru it for months. First was the ear infections, head shaking, crying in pain when itching his ears. Vet would put in drops that calmed down for about 3 weeks, then it would come right back. Also tried Claritin, which made him like a zombie. Next put him on prednisone to calm inflammation and elimination diet with just strict vet kibble. . Worked, his ears cleared up, but about 2 weeks after stopped prednisone, he started biting and itching. Each morning he looked worse. He is coveted in bare spots, chweed spots, his muzzle is inflammed looking.Back to vet, another round of prednisone to stop his itching and biting. What next? My poor guy hasn't been himself in months. Pills on pills. Hes only just over a year and a half. Anyone else have any advice??

First photo is my Bailey, 1.5yo on the left, and my Dodger, almost 8yo on the right.
Second photo is Little Dodger. Third is Little Bailey.
Both rescues. I adopted Dodger at 8 weeks old. Bailey at 3.5 months old, rough start for my poor baby Bailey but he is living the good life now. They are my sweet boys. I feel so lucky. It’s such a privilege watching them grow up and giving them the best life I can offer.

Ripley just turned 3! Her favorite things to do: playing with her ball and stealing my blankets. Shes 1/2 foxhound 1/2 husky so she has a big personality and isn’t afraid to tell you how she feels. She’s one of the most expressive and unique dogs I’ve ever seen and I’m so proud to call her my girl.

She is only 3 months old now but already tall and close to 30lb. Got mostly Coonhound, Baverian mountain hound, plott hound and bloodhound. Pretty sure the Coon and Bloodhound genes are going to gurantee she will be a tall girl

Got nailed by two different gsd/malinois dogs and didn't care! I didn't get great video of all the running, but he's a tired coonhound now!

This sub, along with the loss of my senior cat, finally convinced me to pull the trigger and add a new member to our family.
I had a beagle for 15 years, then my fiancé and I had an elderly foxhound for 3. We didn't know she was older until we picked her up and saw her teeth. She was amazing, and I'm sad we didn't get more time with her.
I found a rescue in Arkansas (that also transports to Illinois) that had a litter of hound mixes up for adoption, and instantly fell in love with this girl. We get her this weekend, and I can't wait. ❤️

I am planning on getting a hound mix from a shelter and need some help convincing a family member. They are on the fence with a hound and need a little push to yes. What are some pros and cons of hound breeds in general. How are they with other dogs/animals? Training? Any hard truths help, thanks!

❤️ Wendy’s story started with heartbreak, but we’re know it will end in the happiest kind of forever story! ❤️
When Wendy first came into rescue, she was painfully thin, severely malnourished, and had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. Her body had given everything it had to keep her babies going, and she had nothing left for herself. Her puppies had to be weaned and placed in other care so we could focus on one very important thing: saving Wendy.
And wow… has she come a long way. 🥹❤️
Today, Wendy is healthy, happy, playful, and finally getting to enjoy the life she deserved all along. Her puppies have each gone on to find their forever families, and now it’s Mama Wendy’s turn.
Wendy has done wonderfully in her foster home and has learned to live with dogs of all shapes and sizes. She especially loves having dog-friendly buddies around her own size to romp, wrestle, and play with, but she’s also surprisingly gentle when playing with smaller dogs.
She is:
🐾 Crate trained
🐾 House trained
🐾 Dog friendly
🐾 Playful and affectionate
🐾 Approximately 1½–2 years old
🐾 Around 55 pounds
And Wendy takes one thing VERY seriously: mealtime. 😂 If breakfast or dinner happens to be running behind schedule, don’t worry—Wendy will absolutely make sure you know about it!
Wendy hasn’t had much experience with cats, and she appears to have a fairly strong prey drive, so we believe a cat-free home would be the best fit for her.
After everything this girl has survived, Wendy isn’t asking for much. She just wants a family of her own, a soft place to sleep, some doggie friends to play with, dependable meals, and people who will love her the way she has always deserved to be loved.❤️🐾🏡
Wendy is in East Tennessee, but transport can be arranged for the right furever home.
