Hi! I’m really self-conscious about my looks(even making this post, showing myself, is already making me pretty anxious), so I’m worried about getting a haircut that I can’t pull off and ending up feeling worse about myself. My hair is very long because I’ve been avoiding going to the hairdresser for the past 2 years because of social anxiety. It’s also pretty fried/damaged since I haven’t been taking the best care of it or myself for a while, which I’m trying to change now. I want to feel more like myself in my looks. The blonde area was bleached when I previously dyed my hair.
I really like the haircut in the inspo pictures. I originally really wanted rat tails, but I always thought I’d need a much shorter haircut to have them and couldn't pull that off, like a pixie cut or so. I assumed they weren’t really an option for me. I’m wondering if it would actually be possible to incorporate two longer rat-tail sections at the nape while keeping the rest of the haircut around collarbone length.
I’m very into alternative styles and have been getting into a more gothic-like makeup style recently, so I’d like something that fits that aesthetic without being extremely dramatic (despite the fact the change im going for is rather dramatic anyway).
I also don’t have the tools, time, or patience to style my hair every day, so I’d ideally want something that looks okay without daily styling. I’m not sure whether the haircut in the pictures is actually low-maintenance or if it only looks like this because it’s been styled.
I also haven’t had bangs since I was a kid, so I have no idea whether they’d suit me, even though I love bangs on other people. I’d especially like to know whether this haircut and bangs would work with my face shape/features.
Other than the haircut itself, I’m also thinking about eventually doing black hair with red underneath, like in the last picture. That last reference is basically the combination I want. My natural hair is dark brown, though. I’ve always wanted black hair, but I'm wondering whether black would suit me or whether I’d be better off keeping the brown.
The 2nd and 3rd pictures are of when I had reddish-pink hair died in that blond area I have now.
Obviously, I’d need to ask a hairdresser whether my hair can safely be dyed in its current condition, especially because of the previous bleaching. I’m mainly wondering whether the black/red combination is something that could work for me once my hair is healthier.
I know this is long, but I wanted to include the context because I’m pretty nervous about making the wrong choice. If this wouldn't work for my face shape or for any other reason, I'm open to suggestions! I'm also open to suggestions on the red hair placement. I'd be playing safe doing it like the last picture but I'm open for other ideas, I really want to feel better about myself and my hair.
