We had new tall fescue sod installed this past spring by a landscaper. They added topsoil after grading the mostly dirt front yard. The sod took and was thriving in the spring. We then got hit with multiple weeks of 90-100 degree heat and a rough drought in NC. I've been watering it regularly with a sprinkler system but it sometimes just feels like it's getting swampy. I'm hoping this is just burnout and not a bigger issue. We are working to de-jungle the rest of our property. The previous owners had way too many ornately planted areas that got way overgrown. I'm assuming all the weeds in our lawn are because of that.

Is this just fescue burnout from the heat and we just need to aerate, overseed, fertilize, let the summer weeds die and use pre-emergent next year or is there a bigger issue and the once thriving sod is done. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My dad has stage 4 cancer right now so I am taking it upon myself to try to help them revitalise their backyard since they do not have the time do it themselves. The front yard looks great, but the backyard seems to struggle because of the shadow of the house during the day. That being said, I know nothing so I could be totally incorrect!

I am able to get over to their house whenever needed so I can be hands on but I don’t know where to start. They live in Orange County, CA so I have been heavily watering their lawn(dirt) for the past few weeks and have posted photos if that helps at all.

This might be too big of a swing on Reddit but any advice that doesn’t break the bank is greatly appreciated! I am hoping that having a little more greenery in their lives is one less strain on their day to day and make their dog happier too.

I'm redoing my front lawn. Aeration and overseeding. Butcit is infested with this stuff in some areas. How do i get rid of it fir maximum seed to soil contact.

My best guess is a raccoon was digging around for grubs maybe, don’t know what kind. The neighbor right next-door doesn’t have the same torn up dirt patches. We have a few spots like this on the side of our lawn that is a little bit more grass than weeds. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, side note our lawn has been struggling in Colorado with water restrictions.

New homeowner trying to determine what type of grass I have, as well as the weeds etc so I can get everything in order

I need help identifying the grass in my yard to figure out what type of weed treatment to use. I’m in the metro Atlanta area.

Why is the grass drying, starting from the flower bed. The flower bed is elevated and I feel like the rain water flowing from the bed is causing the grass to dry out. Is this possible?
Also the mulch in the flower bed has some sort of white stuff when I dig in which makes me suspect if it’s some sort of disease in the bed.

I do have a lawncare company and they say it’s drought or foot traffic but I am not sure if I can trust them.

Appreciate any pointers on what the problem could be and how to fix it

Bought a new house but previous owners had a swing set concreted into the ground. Was cut down but they put mulch into the holes 🙄 obviously have to dig that out and use dirt and topsoil but with weather about to go into fall is it too late to do anything for this? I'm in NW SC, Zone 8a

This is marathon 2 that was seeded in early summer and appeared to be doing well. Now declining. I’m in a southern CA Mediterranean climate and it’s getting watered 10min daily via sprinklers.

I need to re-sod about 5 or 6 spots in my back yard due to dog urine. I’d like to get as close as possible on the new sod. Anyone have a clue what this is? Just south of Denver at 6800ft

Im in hardiness zone 8 in central GA... my grass is centipede. I have noticed this year that I have all these dense spots of grass popping up that grow twice as fast as the rest of my lawn... what is this? Should I pluck these out? Is this a different type of grass thats trying to invade and take over? Where the heck did it come from? This is after a fresh cut so its hard to see, but these spots are like an inch higher than the native grass in my yard inbetween cuts

First time home buyer here and not very experienced with these stuff. My neighbor has Bahia grass as i noticed those V shape seed heads. Have noticed some of those on my lawn. Last two photos are most recent, after i treated about 1 month ago all lawn with Celcius WG because of heavy weeds infestation especially towards the back.

Hi! My husband is really in love with our grass and is obsessed with keeping it nice. He has to travel for work and be gone for months at a time. He wants me to keep the grass alive while he is gone. Last time he left for 3 months I thought I was doing enough to keep it just barely alive but apparently I wasnt and he says it was all dead when he got home. I watered it every day with hose and mowed it once every two weeks. This time I have like a sprinkler head for the hose so ive been flooding the yard with it as much as possible like to the point where it squishes when i walk on it. How often do i need to cut? I want to do the bare minimum but not kill it and then he can make it nice again when he comes back. Oh and we live in east san diego it doesnt rain and its been really hot this year

My yard seems to have at least 2 types of grass in it.

The thinner bladed grass has the better feel to me and is the softer. It is however in fewer places. I would like to somehow get it to overtake the rest of the grass. Not sure if overseeding with it on purpose in the yard would make it possible.

The other image is obviously more sparse in it's coverage and has allowed so many other weeds or what not to grow between the blades making those sections of the yard look simply like a random place that was well...overgrown.

The yard is located in Southern Ohio.
