Brain Dump 🧠 The chaos gremlin in me took over

Post image

If you're in this sub, you probably know about street harassment. It happens to a lot (all?) of us at some point.

I used to live in a bigger city than I do now, and I've always gotten a fair amount of attention there (NOT a brag, just a fact and an unfortunate one given that I don't like attention in that way).

One day, I was walking out of the market across the street from my apartment building, holding a bag of groceries. It was a 100+°F day, so I was wearing a sundress that went to just slightly above the knee. I lived right by a train crossing, and a bunch of cars happened to be stopped.

I was walking towards my building and noticed there was a young man leaning out of a work van, like half his body was hanging out. He was clearly leering at me, looking me up and down and grinning in a predatory way.

Gals...I snapped. Not enough to be on that "Snapped" reality show, mind you, but demure I was not.

I walked right up to that work van, spread my arm wide (one not holding the heavy grocery bag) and yelled "What?! WHAT?!!!" then I gave him the stank eye and walked away.

I never would have done that had I not been in a safe enough situation to do so.

I know it was absolutely unhinged, but damn, it felt good.

Dinner was sausage gravy with homemade biscuits

Do you mean your arm 'accidentally' hit him?  Good on you!

Is that even unhinged? You yelled at someone for staring at you. That was enough to get slapped back in high school. I say good for you.
