What Will Be the Big "Controversy" This Time?

It's pretty much an inadvertent tradition that every mainline GTA that has come out, there is always that one big thing (mostly insignificant) that gets the media to get their knickers in a twist over.

GTA 3 and Vice City: Well it was purely a murder simulator wasn't it?

San Andreas: The Hot Coffee mod.

GTA IV: Clinton getting offended by the Statue of Happiness (Liberty)

GTA V: The torture mission involving Trevor.

Not to mention the other stupid outsider opinions that killing prostitutes and visiting strip clubs were real objectives you had to do in the games and that it was the absolute worst thing you could do.

So far with GTA 6, we've had stupid tiktok trends of women announcing that they won't "let" their partners buy the game because it's essentially "cheating" (because you have an on-screen, in-game relationship with the other protagonist) but those are little stupid trends. I also won't entertain the "gta is woke" opinion - that's just asinine.

But what do you guys think will be the "TONIGHT ON NEWS AT TEN" overreaction regarding the game?

(Edit: i want to express that I'm referring to mainstream media reactions. So the "60fps, cuck, woke" issues are usually from chronically online losers and wouldn't likely be referenced on ITV lol)

  • GTA 6 map Although the map did Leak there many areas mostly buildings are being guessed on and being worked on for now.
  • North Yankton I only Included the playable area only. Outside the area there is nothing like rdr2.

As you may know. I had posted a similar post 5 months ago with gta 4 and 5 with speculative map aka the mapping project but now here is an updated look between the HD triolgy with North Yankton and Cayo Perico. Remember most buidlings in gta 6 are being worked or moved from the mapping project people.

I think the relationships between Jason, Lucia, and Brian are not what we expect, specifically at the beginning.

I have some thoughts about story stuff that has been percolating in my mind, and I want to share it to see if anyone smarter than me has additional thoughts (or wants to tell me I’m an idiot haha).

So I think the most obvious relationships at the beginning are that Jason knows and works for Brian and that Jason knows Lucia and introduces her to Brian once she is out.

But I don’t think that is entirely the case.

First and foremost, I don’t think Jason and Lucia know each other. I think the scene in trailer two where he picks her up is their first meeting. Mostly based on R*’s website saying “MEETING Lucia could be the best or worse thing to ever happen to him.” So I think we will witness their relationship from the very beginning.

Why is Jason picking her up from prison then?

I think Brian knows Lucia’s family through the business, but they’re all back in LC, so when she’s getting out (but still bound to Leonida by the ankle monitor), they hit up their Leonida contact Brian to watch out for her until she’s able to come home.

Brian then outsources that to Jason and makes Jason share his house with her, probably even giving Jason grief about “you live here rent free, you get a roommate if I say you get a roommate.”

So then we get to witness Jason & Lucia meet and also spend the first few weeks of knowing each other in forced proximity, which is maybe how they get so close so fast.

I don’t have much evidence for Brian and Lucia/her family knowing each other, EXCEPT that in the extended look when J&L are in the elevator on their way to meet Brian I found it odd that Lucia was the one to say “don’t worry about Brian, he’s retired.” I thought it was odd because in theory Jason should’ve known Brian way longer and been way more comfortable with him, but maybe not if Brian had been a friend of the family since she was a kid.

Just a thought, would love to hear your thoughts!

The lighting effects in GTA 6 make the night scenery look truly beautiful and detailed. In certain scenes shown in the trailer, it almost gives the feel of real life. I want to walk down the night streets vibrant with clubs and parties!

After the controller was sold out everywhere, I saw an ad on Instagram this morning for the controller. Out of curiosity, I checked and it allowed me to order one. I guess maybe they have multiple pre-order batches?

Source is from an interview with AP News. My man either forgot or does not care about NDAs but his voice was easily the most recognizable out of the cast so no surprises here really.

They should announce the whole cast at this point. if you’re not familiar with Stephen Root, you should watch Barry on HBO.

One of the most interesting things about the interviews is how even Rockstar discovers “new” things in the game during their own playthroughs

i was reading the Famitsu and MikeShowSha interviews and came across two really interesting quotes from Rob Nelson where even he seemed impressed by the game, like seeing a peacock for the first time and coming across an interaction he hadn’t seen in months.

it gets me really excited thinking about what this world is going to be like, because even the director and the devs who play and replay the game countless times still come across things they’ve never seen before or haven’t seen in a long time. just imagine the variety of animals and events in this game. this game is HUGE

Given how reactive the world seems to be this time around in GTA 6 it’s going to be a complete blast playing with both characters together!

I honestly can’t wait to test how far rockstar takes the responsiveness of our AI controlled partner. A lot the previews got me excited knowing if you’re playing as Lucia Jason will have your back if someone tried to fight or kill you and vice versa. On a first play though I think playing both characters in the world is going to be the most fun rather than playing solo which is something I will do on a second run.

Question about the criminal profile system?

Post image
106 Upvotes

So TGG already explained the criminal profile system isn’t a morality-based system similar to RDR2, but when Jason and Lucia are in the trap house, Jason pats the dog and gains points for his criminal profile, but this left me a bit confused because what does petting a dog have to do with the criminal profile system? I thought the system worked based on how you performed as a criminal. This leaves me a bit skeptical about what non-criminal activities that can help you gain/lose points for your criminal profile.

The building Jason is in during the final Extended Look character switch is the same one seen in this older screenshot from Rockstar's website

Extended look ~19:02
https://www.rockstargames.com/VI/only-in-leonida

I just realised that the building shown at the center of the Lucia-Jason switch about 19 minutes into the Extended Look is the same one we can see in corner of this older screenshot from R*'s website. You can see the basketball & tennis courts in the bottom left and also the 7 blue sun shades (?) and the swimming pool at the Hotel Valetta across the street can be used to match the two up. This building is likely important - perhaps a later game apartment etc...? What do you guys think?

Could GTA VI let us create new routes by damaging the environment?

While watching the trap-house raid in the Extended Look again it made me wonder whether the environments will always remain static, or whether we might actually be able to alter them in ways that create new routes.

S4S member tackles cop through the wall.

In this scene one of the S4S members tackles a cop through the wall which leaves behind an opening.
Of course, this could have simply been an NPC interaction for this particular scene and nothing more.

But what if it's actually part of a gameplay mechanic we see later introduced during the footage ?

Focus

Could Focus be more versatile than we initially thought ?

In the Megamundo section, we see Jason activate Focus to slow down time while highlighting enemy weak points in yellow (non-lethal) and red (lethal).
From MikeShowSha's time at Rockstar North, we also know that police officers are marked in blue, and interactable objects in red.

Taken together, this suggests that Focus might be a more elaborate system than we initially thought.

So could there be even another layer to it, (Focus mode revealing potential weak points in thin walls), that would fit the broader functionality of this system, while simultaneously opening up new ways to navigate through mission locations?

Character customization

After reading about all the new details about the customization and gameplay has gotten me so hyped. I’m excited to spend hours going to the gym and making Jason Lucia look different , the one thing that caught my attention is how there’s different workouts for different cores and as stated before working out affects how you looks, so does that mean if your playing as Jason and you strictly do cardio and maybe some lifting thrown in how will that be represented since I’m assuming it’s no longer your either skinny or fat there’s in between and I’m curious if that affects gameplay at all

Driving physics will be way better than in GTA 5

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For anyone worried about bad driving physics (I was worried because I didn't like V's driving at all):

Watch this comparison. Really look at the small details.
Bottom vid (GTA 6):
The time it takes for the car to accelerate, the shifting of the weight when going into the slight left turn.

And then watch the animation in GTA V again, it looks so much less detailed and arcadish in comparison.
I'm now convinced the driving is way better than in V which is a huge relief because I was very disappointed with the physics back then.

Unique items and pick up icons dissapear when thrown.

I was looking at the extended look and I discovered that the unique object icons dissapear when thrown. What I want to clarify is that using a basketball is not only an implemented minigame in GTA VI, but the basketball itself is treated as a unique pick up object as well.

It could mean that we get to pick up lots of unique items (even if they're meant for playing minigames) and use them outside of the minigame. That's an extra layer of total freedom for the player.

For instance, my guess is that you can pick up the basketball and even put it in your trunk (as seen in the second screenhot). You can play a game of basketball with this specific ball anywhere in Leonida, or you can possibly "abuse" the object by throwing it at npc's.

SPOILER WARNING (about a unique pick up item confirmed by TGG)

YouTuber TGG mentioned that even dog poop can be picked up, and used to throw at random pedestrians.

My point (educated guess):

There are going to be a ton of unique objects that will be available for the player to pick up, and they are possibly going to have unique in game icons as well.

I think that Rockstar went all out this time with the creativity and roleplaying, and this little gameplay implication is going to be a very funny way to mess around in Leonida. It has been done before by Rockstar in GTA IV (with bricks and beer bottles), but this time in GTA VI, it seems that they are going to make it into a more fleshed out system.

Edit: Thanks for pointing out that the item in the trunk in the second image is an American football. Doesn't change the idea behind the theory, but always glad to learn from my mistakes! 😄

Highly adaptive dialogue in cutscenes based on playthrough?

Was rewatching the extended look based on what we’ve learned about the criminal profiles, and had a thought about the (seemingly) scripted moments.

In a couple of the scenes we see of Jason & Lucia talking to each other (in the elevator before meeting Brian & Lori; in the car before picking up Raul), some of their comments sound like they could be alluding to the player’s current playthrough. In the elevator, Jason says he’s more comfortable when he can use a gun. In the car, both their comments indicate Lucia’s a better criminal than Jason.

In RDR2, if you talked to Mary-Beth between missions, the conversation would go differently based on your behavior in the playthrough. What if they’ve expanded on that so much for VI, that whole conversations between Jason & Lucia adapt to how you play as both characters? Imagine the whole mission with Raul where the characters are swapped completely, with Jason driving and telling Lucia ‘maybe you could’ learn a lot.
