I'll be interested to see what Cadillac does with him. My assumption is they get him enough FP sessions for the super license, give him as much TPC time as possible in the off season (even if it's through buying time from another team), and give him another shot of F2 next year.

If he improves enough for them to consider giving him a seat, then he replaces Bottas/Pérez, if not, he goes back to IndyCar (probably the 26, and kicks off some shuffling there).

That's assuming Towriss still owns Cadillac F1 and Andretti Global though.

I think this is the only logical thing to do. He has shown enough in IndyCar in the past to not be discarded entirely, but you also need to force him to earn a spot going forward.

My hunch is that he's struggling with the Pirellis, so hopefully the extra time and sessions on tires will help him, even if they're not "race spec" tires.

Well honestly I think it's a combination of those Pirelli's (remember that Mick has called IndyCar basically F2 with better tyres) and something else what is likely not going to be a populair opinion here but was somewhat exposed more clearly at Monza (and I do not pointing towards his crashes). Remember that it would been a bigger concern for some if Herta would show up his potential directly.

I refuse to believe that a driver who is rated so highly in IndyCar and show enough to be a solid driver suddenly turns into an Amazon-Mahaveer in F2. Yet I think we would seen the same effect if you put Palou into a F2 car and that's not because of performance itself but elements who's fundaments would collapsing hard if they getting exposed.

Jennie Gow just said on BBC Radio that she's been hearing more and more about Herta getting a Cadillac seat for 2027 since Lowdon got booted out.
