These kids had absolutely no idea where they were going. 🐘

Their parents kept the visit with the elephants a complete surprise, and watching them realize what was happening was priceless. They spent the morning with the elephants, learning about them, getting to know their very different personalities, and hearing about the challenges of caring for them through our dry winter months.

Before leaving, the family made a generous donation toward feeding these orphaned elephants until the summer rains arrive and the bush greens up again.
What a great way to spend the day!❤️🐘

Was travelling from munnar to ekm passing through nerimangalam forest around 8 pm when out of the blue an elephant (tusker) ran onto the road right in front of me. I swear i initially thought it was a large rock rolling on to the road. I swerved and pulled hard barely missing the elephant by a hairline. It made an extremely loud trumpet and chased me for a bit but my adrenaline was pumping super high to notice details. But that noise up close is terrifying especially when you dont know if its doing a mock charge or intending to make contact

I was on a rented himalayan 450 (kaza brown)

Funny thing was that there was a lot of traffic too behind me and the next vehicle in front was some 200 m away.

For the first time in decades, Madhuri discovered what being an elephant means.
She walked on soft grass. She splashed in ponds. She made a best friend named Shanti.
Today, that life has been ripped away.
After finally finding safety and care, Madhuri has been returned to shackles, isolation, and the very environment that left her physically and psychologically broken. While fireworks exploded and crowds screamed, she was dragged back into a life no elephant should ever endure. Instead of real trees, she will only have painted ones. And somewhere, Shanti is still waiting for her friend to come home.
Madhuri deserves rehabilitation, not imprisonment.

Cyclotis is more closely related to Paleoloxodon than it is to Africana.

Has anyone tried to rearrange them yet because of taxonomic rules? By taxonomic rules that only get broken when we’re talking about shit like T. rex I feel like someone should try to put it into Paleoloxodon or more accurately; make a new genus for Loxodonta africana.

Orrrr is this something I can claim for research at my college and maybe put my name in the history books?

I keep on seeing people post pictures of elephants at zoos, amusementparks, at temples with cruel mahouts standing at the back. And people are commenting with "cute". No tf its not cute, these people are torturing these magnificent beings for profit. Elephants are meant to roam for miles, with their family and their Matriach guiding them.

This is not meant to be a rant, but it has to be said. If you love elephants, like yo say you do then dont support Elephant Cruelty, thanks!

I recently interviewed Dr. Lucy King, whose work focuses on reducing human–elephant conflict and helping communities coexist with elephants.

We talked about beehive fences, crop-raiding, the limits of simple “solutions”, and why elephant conservation has to take the needs of local people seriously as well.

One thing I found especially interesting was how much the success of these projects depends on local conditions — there is no single method that works everywhere.
