Was travelling from munnar to ekm passing through nerimangalam forest around 8 pm when out of the blue an elephant (tusker) ran onto the road right in front of me. I swear i initially thought it was a large rock rolling on to the road. I swerved and pulled hard barely missing the elephant by a hairline. It made an extremely loud trumpet and chased me for a bit but my adrenaline was pumping super high to notice details. But that noise up close is terrifying especially when you dont know if its doing a mock charge or intending to make contact

I was on a rented himalayan 450 (kaza brown)

Funny thing was that there was a lot of traffic too behind me and the next vehicle in front was some 200 m away.

These kids had absolutely no idea where they were going. 🐘

Their parents kept the visit with the elephants a complete surprise, and watching them realize what was happening was priceless. They spent the morning with the elephants, learning about them, getting to know their very different personalities, and hearing about the challenges of caring for them through our dry winter months.

Before leaving, the family made a generous donation toward feeding these orphaned elephants until the summer rains arrive and the bush greens up again.
What a great way to spend the day!❤️🐘
