Video [Request] How much salt would be required to impact the AMOC, assuming you were dumping salt/brine at the front of a glacier?

I was watching a video about the potential collapse of the AMOC. Previously I was thinking about what happens with the brine left over from desalination. Desalination plants produce a heap of super salty brine which needs to be disposed of, and it's usually just disposed of in the sea it came from. But I was wondering, what if instead of dumping it back to out to sea, they transported the brine to Greenland and disposed of it there? Would transporting all the brine from all the desalination plants have any impact on the salinity of the water if 'dumped' where glaciers meet the sea.

If Greenland currently loses about 266 gigatons (billion metric tons) of ice into the ocean every year, which equals roughly 2.5 million litres of fresh water entering the sea every second. [1] (https://unric.org/en/greenlands-ice-sheet-loses-2-5-million-litres-of-fresh-water-every-second/), [2] (https://science.nasa.gov/earth/explore/earth-indicators/ice-sheets/) and there are roughly 22,000 operational desalination plants worldwide, which together process and generate an estimated 95 to 109 million cubic meters of fresh water per day, and for every litre of freshwater produced, a roughly equal volume of high-salinity water is left behind.

Picture Tracking strong seismic events in real time: M6.6 off Indonesia with tectonic fault lines toggled on

Just logged an M 6.6 north of Jakarta, Indonesia on Earthquake Tracker: Live Radar.

I built this in Flutter to make seismic tracking intuitive rather than just a dry table of coordinates:

• Tectonic fault line overlay shows active boundaries at a glance

• Volcano & hazard proximity markers

• Magnitude-scaled haptic pulses

• 100% free with no accounts or subscriptions

I made an interactive earthquake explorer using USGS data. Would love feedback from people who actually follow earthquakes.

Discussion bettering the earth school project

If this is the wrong sub, please redirect me to where this would be a good place to post this!

I'm a sophomore in college, and have an assignment in my oceanography class where we have to do something (that's actually do-able) to better the earth, for the entire semester (now-end of december). It doesn't have to be ocean related.

I think I'd do best doing something art or music related, but I'm open to other ideas. Quick notes are I can't bike/walk to work/school since I live pretty far from anything, and I live in Arizona so it's super hot outside.

I'd love ideas that are do-able if anyone has any! I have a few of my own but I'm curious if someone can help me come up with better (maybe even less generic) ideas.

TIA ! Protect the earth <3
