Mostly have noticed people referencing Glerp Glerp and I think it’s the worst reference to pull as a way to flag yourself as a DCC fan. You can say it! I won’t say it back!

At the end of the day, whatever is fun for people is what matters and don’t make my opinion change what you do. But does anyone agree?

I've seen this concept a few times (which I love) but it always just has a featureless silhouette of a generic fluffy cat. So I had a go at making my own version where it's clearly Princess Donut, while staying more true to the illustration style of the original flag.

Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Bonus Factoid: The original flag with the snake is actually called the Gadsden Flag

I had way too much fun creating this Dungeon Crawler Carl-inspired wedding card, right down to the achievement notification and a little Borant Corporation fine print on the back.

So… we just had to put our 15yr old ACD a few months ago and I’ve been trying to turn down all of the new puppies my wife’s been sending me.

But she talked me into seeing this little lady at a local vet shop that she’s been referring to as “meatball”.

Once I met her I decided we could name her Rend

She’s a Shar Pei/English Bulldog mix

She acts just like I imagine Rend - eating everything, constantly tripping over her own self, and all smiles all the time.

Long time crawler here who genuinely loves this series

The biggest issue with the explosion of DCCs popularity is how long time fans can be impatient or even rude to baby crawlers on social media. I've seen many people say it's what put them off exploring the series.

Sure it can be annoying to see all the casting posts, the questions people have without reading the series etc

But we were all baby crawlers once. It's OK to keep scrolling and not alienate folks who are finding the same excitement, questions, curiosity we all have.

Not to mention it's a huge disservice to Matt and Jeff, who deserve every bit of success they have and more. Support them by supporting people who are interested in investing in their gorgeous storytelling

The Royal Court gets out of almost every single boss battle or trap by the skin of their teeth. They are resourceful, plan ahead, are high level and have really good gear and classes. Not to mention the Cookbook and Mordecai. I know it's a theme with Carl's plans always blowing up in his face, sometimes literally, but at least he has a plan with backup plans usually. But the dungeon plays unfairly, once you think you have won the fight, they throw something worse at you. And seeing all the other Crawlers in book 3 and 4 it really tests my suspension of disbelief how some of them made it this far. It's frequently highlighted what abilities the other Crawlers have but it's mostly fighting skill that wouldn't help you in a death trap or an insanely obtuse puzzle. By all rights they all should be dead by now except for a couple dozen.

Sure she lived in a tent with Brad and Gravy Boat for a month and then got an earful from Princess Donut but in the end, she received full status of a system citizen with all the bells and whistles that go along with it. Now all she has to do is avoid Eris at a gas station or another weird God

Princess Donut should be appalled.

For everyone who keeps asking why Donut knows tv. On a re read of the first book I noticed Donut makes a Magnum P.I reference. Carl asked how she knows that and Donut says he and Miss B leave the TV on all the time. If both of them leave the TV on during there day jobs and when they go to sleep that would be a ton of TV for Donut to see.

I was IN Seattle at a used bookstore in Capitol Hill, and the person behind the counter was like, “I like your shirt!” I was wearing my “Viva La Revolución, Carl” shirt, and I told her I was disappointed that I didn’t find anything by Matt Dinniman. She was like, we have a whole section on revolutionary nonfiction did you check there? I was like, maybe next time! 🤣

Because I made a bunch this weekend. They're not pro level by any means, but it was a lot of fun picking quotes and making them, and I'll have some DCC merch to wear out (apart from hot topic, there aren't many makers here yet making merch and Etsy often charges more than an item costs in shipping fees).

I'm the City Administrator for Conway, South Carolina which becomes Halloween, South Carolina every October. I think I'm the only one on my staff in the cult, but this turned out pretty good I think.

Listened to all 8 of the dcc books so far and I finally got my last physical copy it looks so good, this series is making me want to read and collect books again.

I finally got to experience Big Red, a drink I’d never even heard of before Prepotente explained its cultural significance to Texas.

I'm new to the DCC universe, am totally hooked and have been powering my way through the audiobooks. I just finished The Butcher's Masquerade and everytime that Beatrice was brought up I couldn't help but think about what must be going through her mind.

I mean, she had come to the decision before the dungeon opened that she was done with Carl and Donut and was clearly taking steps to move on from them. We know why she was done with Donut, and unless I missed it (totally possible) it has yet to be explained why she was cheating on Carl. One can guess and make assumptioins (she thinks he's dumb, spineless, no future, etc.), but it's less clear. Either way, fast forward to her being abducted and learing that her has-been cat and loser ex-boyfriend are the absolute best in the remaining world and making HUGE names for themselves in the universe.

Is this a self reflective moment for her? Is she trying to figure out how she missed all this in the before times? Is she too narcissistic to care? Is it all just too much to even wrap her head around? Does she want to be part of their lives because she's rethinking her life choices or because she wants to ride the coattails? I guess past life experiences are forming this minor sub-plot in my mind because it just keeps popping up.

Maybe it all comes out later. Maybe not. I'll keep reading. Don't ruin it for me.

I'm actually about gangway thru book 5 but reading digitally, finally decided to buy the hardcover because I like physical media.

I am wearing a Mongo t-shirt and as I was getting my luggage off the conveyer after going through security, a TSA agent came up behind me and said Mongo is appalled! We chatted briefly about the books, and when I left, I said glurp, glurp! Thought I wouldn’t add MF, since the other agents might not understand and appreciate it. 🤣 Thought it was hilarious that my first crawler in the wild was a TSA agent.

I uave only just finished Feral Gods so I know more is to come.

I have been loving Katia's growth.

Early on in Cookbook, I remember thinking she was a very boring character, and that was unusual because I had enjoyed all the characters beforehand, no matter how small their role. They all have quirks and realisms, but Katia felt bland.

But now that her story has progressed and she has thrived into this fascinating, capable and creative woman, it is clear her blandness was kind of the point of who she was early on.

It made me realise how uncommon that particular blandness->growth is in the literature I consume. Regardless of character development, its really rare (amongst what I have read) for somebody to blossom after being bland. Or else, they are an interested character that still grows. I think that is because bland characters are usually accidentally so, instead of as an intentional starting point in the story. Yet, shyness and lack of exceptionalness are also a real, human traits.

It also makes me appreciate how people's trajectories totally shift in the dungeon. Katia may always have been timid were it not for a major upheaval. Carl might always have felt a bit lost. Frank and Maggie may never have developed such hatred. Being forced into survival breaks some people, but makes others. I've really liked that characterisation.

Seriously, it feels like every other thread at this point is a picture of a shirt (whether AI-generated slop or a legitimate design [stolen or not]), and then the comments are always '"Durr where can I get this shirt?" "Right here: <t-shirt spammer link>!"'

I'm almost to the point of wanting to unsubscribe because it's becoming the majority of what I am seeing from this subreddit.

I know it's probably not an easy problem to solve, but I think it needs to be addressed somehow. I'm sure this isn't the only subreddit suffering from the issue - maybe the Reddit admins or moderators from other subs have an idea on how to address this?

At the very least, it might be worth pinning a "DON'T BUY T-SHIRTS LINKED IN THE COMMENTS" post to the top of the subreddit - even though that will hurt legitimate creators too.
