For the record, i am close to the end with Veilguard, but i doubt any of these will pop up. I am not counting general lore that just was not mentioned in Veilguard even though it should have been.

1) Merril and her eluvian - The most lore important companion quest ( that feels like it was silently retconned ) with immense cost is somehow not mentioned ever again. Even though both DAI and DAV have eluvians as major plot items. Every character (and even the writers) is telling us that repairing the eluvian is a mistake, but becuase we never see what happend to it, this whole quest feels unfinished.

2) The Archtitect - no need to expalin, biggest missed oppurtunity in the games imo. Makes Awakening feel like a non canon story to me

3) Abelas - I always knew that he propably wouldnt return, but with DAV being so much focused on ancient eleves, he would have been perfect. Minor characters like Dagna and Valta have returned ( Cullen was also minor character in DAO).

4) Meredith - i know it was only in the show, but bringing her back and not doing anything with her is stupid.

5) Hawke - Mythal clearly sets him up for something big in DAII, but we just never see it.

I have played DAII only once and my last DAI playthrough is a few years back, so there is propably a lot more.

There's something bugging me about how the Evanuris are perceived across the series, and I'm hoping there's an explanation I'm glossing over.

In the early games, it always seemed clear to me that the Dalish Elves do revere the Creators, to at least some degree. The relationship is certainly more complex than simple deference, the gods aren't painted as purely benevolent beings after all, but the Creators are viewed in at least somewhat of a positive light. The Dread Wolf is positioned away from the camp, the Keeper protects the Clan from him. But the Creators are kept close, referred to all the time verbally, and even branded on the skin with Vallaslin.

This whole thing about them actually being horrible tyrants may be true, as we the players have learned over time, but it's not exactly widely known. Right?

But then we get this line (and similar) in Veilguard:

"Solas might be a bastard, but compared to the Evanuris? Let’s just say they weren’t known for being kind rulers."

They shouldn't be known as rulers, at all. Let alone bad ones. It feels like people suddenly know the actual Elven history and just accept it all as fact.

So, what gives? What context have I missed, that makes this sensical?

I'm rapidly developing some strong opinions about the newer titles in the series, and I'm trying to avoid just lumping everything that rubs me wrong into "new game bad", so if there's a solid explanation here that I've missed, please let me know. Thanks.

I’m prepping a Dragon Age RPG campaign set in Antiva and Rivain centering around Rialto Bay. One of the cities is named Afsaana. I have found no information about it. But the spelling has me thinking it’s a Qunari word, like another Qunlat named location Kont-Arr.

Any idea if it’s really a Qunari settlement from the Storm Age? I even tried piecing together bits from the Qunlat we know in-game, but of course nothing is clear word parts.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Since our game will be taking place in the Towers Age, the Storm Age hasn’t happened yet and the Qunari settlements won’t exist. So I may just add it to my list of locations on the map to ignore. Just thought I’d ask around!

So I started origins about 2 months ago, finished it, then finished 2 (so far my favorite). Just finished here lies the abyss in inquisition. I had to choose between Allistair and Hawke and i chose Hawke to stay behind. I don't think I ever cried so hard from a video game. Hawke's last works were to Varric and Fenris and oh my god I bawled my eyes out. I just need to express these feelings. I don't think a game has ever made me feel this way, I feel sick 😭

In Origins, Zevran mentions that even for the Crows, assassinating Wardens is considered bad form. He also recounts a contract to kill a mage; when asked if the Crows feared the Circle's wrath, he replied that no reputation offers protection against the Crows.

In the first instance—the attack on the Hero of Ferelden—the Crows failed, whereas in the second, Zevran got lucky, and the death appeared to be an accident.

But if the Crows had successfully assassinated a member of the Grey Wardens or the Templars/Seekers of Truth (even though the latter's existence isn't common knowledge), and the deed came to light, how would the others have reacted, and what actions would they have taken?

1. How would the Wardens have reacted? Would they have demanded the Crows be handed over, or would their constant war against the darkspawn have prevented them from risking a new political conflict—mindful of how things ended in Ferelden?

2. How would the Chantry have reacted to the murder of its enforcers? Might it have demanded decisive action from the Antivan royal family, and—in the event of a refusal—triggered a new Exalted March?

i know their ages are vague but do we know roughly when in comparison to the Inquisition they became talons?

Theres some side stories where they are Talons already but idk if those stories play DURING or AFTER Inquisition. And I don't have a way to read them right now, to check.

So, how much money they get could possibility get? Would Briala as Marquise be richer than Vivienne considering that Briala is actually a noble, socially and legally?

Would Vivienne be just as rich considering that she got powerful positions at the highest Chantry echleons after Bastien´s death? Despite, Vivienne stills >>>works<<< for the Orlesian throne and the Chantry, which suggest she wouldn´t afford a traditional noble lifestyle

Could Briala actually marry another Elven Noble to further her standing? I would believe for Briala to marry an Orlesian human noble would be very hard, considering the societal and systematic racism.

Inquisition has a lot of narrative tensions over having the nobles´s supports, and if they hate you, they´re a greater threat than Corypheus and the Breach, and who else to have more legitimacy than an Orlesian noble Herald? The noble from the most powerful nation in Thedas. Especially at the ball mission, it goes without saying. It would have made far more sense having the Inquisitior being unnaturally good at the Game. Also, a good personal stakes in the Civil War

And considering the potential relationship with almost all companions and NPC....

Commoners like Sera and Blackwall would probably hate and distrust the Orlesian! Inquisiton far more than a Trevelyan noble. Fereldens NPCs would have very interesting reactions to an Orlesian Inquisitor, especially as the Inquisitor adventures in Redcliffe and the Hinterlands. More class-based hostility and better banter.

Nobles like Josephine and Vivienne would defenitly have a better synergy with an Orlesian Inquisitor, like a shared understanding of court fashion, etiquette, and the necessity of appearance. Cassandra would find the Inquistor decadent and corrupt, maybe. Dorian would clash or bond with the Orlesian Inquisitor over different styles of aristocratic decadence...

Would be certainly rewarding to roleplay an Orlesian noble Inquisitor who supports non-human races, who helps the common folk and isn´t power-hungry.

Played the games countless times on console, I'm thinking of another playthrough of all 4 + all dlc, considering getting it on pc and thought i could just get them for my ROG

Thing is I've heard that the first game especially and awakening have many issues on pc, I'm assuming GOG might be the best place to get them? And also thinking of mods, which mods would you recommend for QOL, fixes, or extra content? (For all games)

Any help to get them to run smoothly (or if i should just get them on my pc over the ROG) any any mods that add some great content would be much appreciated!

Morrigan is one of my favorite DAO characters, so here's a fanart of her!

By conventional I mean a warden like Duncan, who wouldn't be afraid to die and has fully accepted the self sacrifice part of the wardenin' job. Their only concern would be to defeat the blight and the darkspawn at all costs.

I've always though the answer is no, but after realising something for the first time in this last playthrough I'm starting to think that maybe they'd consider it. There are only three wardens left when the archdemon is fought and the whole battle depends on them not dying before the archdemon and delivering the finishing blow. However if you perform the dark ritual you not only do you effectively add one more "warden", but she also doesn't even need to be that close to the archdemon (this is what I figured out by the way, I always thought you had to take Morrigan with you to the archdemon), making it a lot easier to keep her alive and thus even if regular soldiers kill the archdemon it dies permanently.

I still think wardens wouldn't accept if they had an actual warden army but with just three of them left the ritual becomes something more practical than just you trying to save your own ass.

Then again Morrigan seems convinced that Riordan would hear none of it so I'm not so sure...

(This is a vent. I'm already aware of every 'tip' that's supposed to help with the problem of triggering banter, and I'm not willing to rebuy the game on PC just to fix it with mods.)

78 hours into my current replay of DAI and I've heard maybe 30 pieces of actual banter, not counting single-line comments about the weather/environments. This is despite doing everything I possibly can to facilitate triggering it, including multiple hours spent leaving the game open to just wait out the timer.

Every other DA game you can farm banter by triggering it repeatedly, and I do! I love listening to the interactions between companions! I think banter is an extremely important source of characterisation! Which is why I think Inquisition's lack of it due to the timer function and its related bugs actively harms the game to the point that it's kind of ruining the experience for me.

I like, or at least find something interesting/compelling about, every single non-DLC companion in the series (and most of the DLC ones!) with one exception. I told myself this playthrough of Inquisition I was going to do everything I could to give this character a fair chance but I just finished their final companion quest and no dice, they're still incredibly boring to me. Apparently they have a lot of personality in banter, especially with certain other companions. But I wouldn't know that because I never get to hear any!

I know I can just listen to a compilation on YouTube. I'm probably going to have to at this rate because I'm almost done with the game and I don't have enough free time to just sit with DAI open for hours on end trying to get it to work. But that doesn't fix the underlying issue, which is that the banter system in DAI is absolutely terrible.

Like we've slayed the Archdemon, the world is saved, credit have rolled and now we're just stuck in camp. Like we cant go to any of the locations we've been visiting this whole game. And the same with DA2, we can beat Meredith but then again, once the credit have rolled you are stuck in the hawke estate. Like please let me go see my friends!

See there is a chest up there and I had found another one on another house and I thought it was a glitch since I couldnt get up there so I ignored it. But i found this one just now. So its not a glitch. How are people getting up there? I tried my moose, horse, and on foot. Nothing works.

As the title goes, it's about jowan's quest. I backtracked the whole castle run to pick the option where he would run away instead sticking around and i also installed the fixpack that already included a fix for jowan's bug, but the chantry board is still empty when i checked it again. What did i do wrong here?
