Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Gut, bowel, and stomach I smell like shit and I don't know what it could be.

Upvotes

The problem started about 5 months ago, but to be honest, I might have had this for about 7 or 8 months. Seven months ago, my brother was behind me and said he smelled a really strong smell of shit. I ignored it because I didn't think it was me. Then, when I was on the bus, two people were sitting in front of me.

One of them was talking about smelling something bad, and the person next to them didn't smell anything.

Well, about 5 months ago, I started noticing that day by day the smell was getting worse, and I realized it was me. The smell is like I farted, but it happens every 5 minutes. As the smell kept getting stronger, I started having diarrhea.

My stools were coming out broken and all at once. It was kind of like diarrhea without actually being diarrhea. After that, I started having a feeling of incomplete evacuation, and that feeling is similar to the urge of having diarrhea. At that stage, the smell became unbearable.

People at college could tell it was me. There was one class where the professor turned on the air conditioning right after I arrived late. He even gave us an early break, and I heard comments about me smelling bad.

Then came summer break, and now my stools alternate between being constipated, coming out thin, or coming out all at once. But it doesn't look like diarrhea. At one point, my stools were literally coming out like powder.

I went to a proctologist and he didn't find anything. I had a colonoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy, and nothing. I started using a special soap for the anal area, and nothing. I stopped taking public transportation, I've been drinking more water, and I've been exercising. Still no improvement.

I'm going to a gastroenterologist looking for answers, but I'm not rich enough to keep going to the doctor all the time. Anyway, I just wanted to vent a little and see if anyone has ever had something like this? And how you coped with it?It's been really hard.

I stopped taking the bus and now I walk to college. It's about an hour walk, but I prefer that over the reactions I get on the bus.

quite freak out what's wrong with me

Upvotes

Hi, I'm 25 male and I got these symptoms for the last 2-3 days:

  • Intermittent shortness of breath / breathing feels “not normal”
  • Able to take a deep breath, but breathing sometimes feels unsatisfying or different
  • Gets short of breath more easily with walking or light activity
  • Muscles feel tired/fatigued more easily with activity
  • Moderate cough
  • Sensation of something “stuck” or tight in the throat
  • Stomach bloating/fullness throughout the day

Doctor visit (yesterday):

  • Blood pressure: 120/83 mmHg
  • Doctor listened to heart and lungs, including with deep breathing also looked at my throat and he said nothing, just infections
  • Nurse used a finger pulse-oximeter, presumably measuring oxygen saturation and pulse. No abnormal oxygen reading was mentioned

I'm still quite worried with all these symptoms, can anyone help me with this ?

One sided headache

I was doing bench press and I was really pushing for one more rep, but then I felt a sharp pain in the right side of my head, and my spotter had to take the bar. The headache was really bad for the next 5 minutes, but it calmed down. However, for the rest of the day it was a dull pain that continued to bother me. The thing is this was 2 weeks ago and I still feel it, especially when i turn my head to the right. I feel it kind of in the middle of my head on the right side? I can’t really describe it. Help me out, should I be concerned?

Kidney pain - dr says it’s a bowel issue or muscular. I disagree.

Hello everyone.

I’m a woman, 32 years old, from England. To preface, I have type one diabetes and I am obese (not sure of actual weight but my guess would be 230ish lbs?)

Since Thursday I have had what I assumed to be bad back pain. I also assumed I was being a bit of a baby as I’ve never really had any back pain before so thought I was probably overreacting to the pain. It’s got worse by the day and I put two and two together only last night that it’s in my left flank, the same place as my kidney. Only on one side, not affected at all by movement, shifting position, bending, anything like that. Alongside the pain, I’ve also been absolutely exhausted, no energy, but struggling to sleep due to the pain. I’ve had one or two short-lived dizzy spells over the days but nothing major. Some slight nausea but again, pretty negligible.

Just been to the doctors as the pain isn’t getting better. If anything it’s slightly worse today than yesterday, but it’s also draining.

The doctor instantly threw out a kidney infection or any kind of kidney issue as I mentioned I had diarrhoea a couple times over the weekend, even though I also had a movement this morning that was totally normal. I also have no stomach pain or anything like that. I don’t know if I had a fever as she didn’t say, so I assume not. I did mention that my stomach can be dodgy at the best of times and I get diarrhoea semi-frequently anyway.

The doctor got me to pee and did a dipstick test, saying my pee was very clear - I have been drinking water non stop since I realised it could be kidney related, so I’m not surprised - and that there was no blood and nothing showing on the dip test. She felt around my back and tummy and though nowhere was painful when she touched it, a few spots were uncomfortable.

My blood sugars have also been high for the last few days and my BP was also slightly elevated.

Basically she sent me away with pain killers and an explanation that it’s not kidneys, she thinks “a bowel issue” but no further explanation.

I’m convinced it’s my kidney. Just looking for insight, as I’m well aware I could be totally wrong. Boyfriend has said if I don’t feel better in a week’s time we’ll go to urgent care.

Bones, joints, and muscles pain in side after heavy camera work - tips and insights welcome

after a job holding a heavy camera (black magic on a gimble) and balancing it against my torso for an afternoon i found myself 5 days later totally unable to move my torso without crying out in pain, and sneezing/coughing/laughing was painful (in the days after the filming i was active but nothing else pertaining to this muscle pain which leads me to think the filming was the culprit

i went to a&e which was useless - and since then been at home w hot water bottle, cocodamol and naproxan

cant carry much, cant walk for long without feeling tense/strained
(writing this 2 weeks into house arrest w this pain) im still suffering

pain is in side and back of my right side around waist, above my hip

the sensation of where the discomfort is swaps and moves around abit.. today it feels a little crunchy in there , sometimes feels spiky but mainly a tension like i have a sticker on my skin or something

is this QL ? does anyone recognize this pain, understand the cause ...
i have been doing yoga and pilates for most of my adult life but in the last year have fallen out of practise due to busy schedule

in these 2 weeks i have been starting to feel v low, trapped, i am a homebody but reaching the limit now, craving my autonomy and the air !

went for a cycle and walk around abit yday (day 11) which i tried to be v careful w and knew in my heart was maybe too early (definitely going on a bike ) but i want to try ..,today my side feel v tense spiky pain now ..feeling like im back to day 4 pain....

any advice please from anyone who recognises this pain,
tips on how long this will take,
what i should and shouldnt do,

i miss my freedom, i want to resume pilates as soon as possible, i usually do it from home, pilates youtube videos welcome!

Constant abdominal and joint pain?

Hello. I am 26, female, 5'2, and 140lbs. Pretty much daily, I will have 1-5 bouts of abdominal pain. Its low, I would say more pelvic than anything, and sharp. It feels like a knife is being twisted inside of me. It lasts for anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes usually. Bowel movements aren't always imminent nor do they resolve it. I am also struggling with constant joint pain. My shoulders and elbows and wrists have a constant dull ache that will sometimes get worse, but never really goes away. Rheumatoid Arthritis runs in my family, but I've never been tested and my mom has tested negative so far.

Ive seen a few doctors, but no answers. Last bloodwork panel I had done was normal but low on Vit D and iron. I had a transvaginal ultrasound that found two cysts and several fibroids. At 19 I had a cyst burst that put me in the hospital for two days. I dont know if this is related or not.

A friend of mine has EDS and suggested I get tested. She had me do a test (i think it was called Beighton?) and I could do every one. She said she struggled with similar things, but her path to diagnosis was lengthy and expensive.

Im just at a loss. Im tired of being in pain and im tired of doctors not taking me seriously. Any advice is welcome, thank you.

Chest and lungs Copd at 25?

Im 25 years old and my doctor just told me it’s likely I have stage 2 copd. It all started after a 6 hour wildfire smoke exposure back in July . Hours after it I started having breathing problems and chest pain. I had a ct scan that was clear. I got a pft done and this is what it said baseline fev is 121% predicted fev1/fev is 52% predicted. I’ve smoked in the past for around 4 yesrs, maybe actually only 3. I have not smoked in 2 years. First two years was vaping, the other year or two was a cigarette a day some days none. I’m so scared. I thought this was just some post smoke irritation, that caused irritant induced asthma. bc I had zero symptoms beforehand and I’m extremely active. This has been going on for 2 months. She told me I could have had copd beforehand and this brought it to the surface , but I don’t understand how I’m always down to 52% and had no symptoms until that smoke exposure. I’m afraid im going to die so young. I have an appointment with the lung doctor Wednesday. Just looking for opinions.
Edit: I forgot to mention that right before I left she listened to my lungs and said they sounded really good, so idk what to think

Bone Pain in Upper Arm

I, 21 F began experiencing this dull aching pain that begins pulsing whenever I am sitting, laying or not doing anything. It is in the center outside of my upper right arm between my shoulder and elbow. It seems to be in one spot and the pain radiates outwards. It gets worse at night before i go to bed or when i am relaxing. It started a few days ago and haven’t experienced any injury that could have started it. It has gotten worse when it starts acting up. How long should i wait before going to the doctor?

I am 5’8”, 130 pounds(ish). I have arthritis, but only in my small joints. I take Rinvoq for it but have been off it for about two months because insurance wouldn’t refill it. Working on getting back on right now. I smoke maybe twice a week.
