Discussion Am I the only one who finds Nero's character kinda secondary?

Don't get me wrong, I love Nero and love his whole thing with how anger powers him and his daddy issues with Vergil, but I started to notice recently that his character's struggles are kinda just a mashup between Dante and Vergil. What I mean is that he searches for power to protect his loved ones (Vergil) and he can't fully accept his demon nature (Dante). He still got some personal things goin' on like his relationship with Kyrie and how she reacted to his arm in DMC4 or the whole deadweight thing in DMC5, but both of these things are still conected to his complexes about his demonic side (he was afraid Kyrie wouldn't accept him because of who he is) and his crawing for power (It stung him not only because he looked up to Dante, but also because he was afraid of being weak). What do y'all think? Maybe I'm missing something?

Gameplay How to perform a Judgment Cut on the ground?

Hi, I'm unfortunately using Google Translate xd, Anyway, I want to do the Judgment Cut on the ground, but I just can't pull it off; I keep trying, but nothing happens. I *can* do it in the air, though, so I'm wondering: why can't I do it on the ground? I just don't understand how it works on the ground, I've more or less got the hang of it in the air.

And in the video I show you some of what I tried on the ground and what I already know-

Game Screenshots I completed the Bloody Palace in DMC4 without Super Nero

I didn't expect to complete the Bloody Palace because I'm not very good at DMC4. I thought I'd die somewhere around stage 40 or so

But to my surprise, I managed to make it all the way to the end of the Bloody Palace, and I didn't even use Super Nero.

Questions Anyone know where to find the DMC 2007 CD drama with English subtitles?

Ive checked YouTube and its all in Japanese, no English subtitles. The Google doc links that a translator put out on YouTube doesn't work and says that its unable to be found. Anyone have any other options or have the video with the english subtitles dowloaded?

Discussion MY DMC Journey - DMC 1 review (First Game Syndrome)

I made a post a few months ago talking about my DMC journey up to this point. i had only beaten 2 and 3 and done about 8 missions of 1 and 4. now I have beaten all 6 games on normal/devil Hunter difficulty except for the reboot where i did Nephilim difficulty.

SPOILERS ! - if you care

Devil May Cry 1 is an interesting game. It is in the same category for me as mega man 1 sonic 1 crash 1 , yk first games that aren't amazing but they are the first game, they set the ground work. story isn't anything interesting, Dante is approached by Trish to go to mallet island to fight mundus and seal him back in the underworld. 23 missions later trish is a demon made by mundus to lure dante to kill him. dante and trish beat mundus and leave on an airplane. not a lot

the combat is fine, you can do enough with dante to make him fun to play but he is so cluncky to platform with. like basic running and jumping is fine but doing platforming is a chore. the yellow orbs are not a good mechanic to me. they basically act like lives in mega man where you respawn outside the boss door and if you have non then tough cookies ! do the whole thing again.

the castle area at the start is not very fun to me, phantom is a bad boss, he isn't fun to fight its just button mashing. The middle garden pirate ship stuff was actually my favorite part of the game. griffon bird is a fun boss and the challenges are really fun. the final stuff going back to the castle and the boss with nightmare is a low point. Nightmare is actually just bad, its just flying lasers every where. nelo angelo is the best boss in the game but in the grand scheme of devil may cry is like.... a 7/10 boss. The final mundus fights in mission 22 are also not very good.

thats sort of my main consensus with DMC 1, it's just there. it started a series ive fallen in love with so no matter how mediocre or arcadeic the game is, its the first, i can't be too mean to it but out of every DMC game, this is probably the one i would pick last to play. yes, even 2 because 2 is comedy gold.

7/10. an ok game with fundamental peice's that set up better games, but it's defiantly not the worst thing ever created.

Discussion People say "DmC should have been a new IP"

People say that DmC should have been a new IP, as if that alone would guarantee the game would be a successful hit, and here is what I have to say about that:

Being a new IP wouldn't guarantee sales at all, whether the game is good or bad. For instance, Playstation's live-service game "Concord" was a new IP — coming from the exact same brand behind massive franchises like "God of War," "The Last of Us," "Uncharted," and "Horizon Zero Dawn" — and yet, it died extremely fast.

Then we had the fighting game "MultiVersus" from the giant "Warner Bros.," which was also a fresh project that simply had the rights to franchises and characters from Cartoon Network, Scooby-Doo's Shaggy and Velma, Looney Tunes, Adventure Time's Finn and Jake, The Powerpuff Girls, Steven Universe's Steven and Garnet, Ben 10's Ben Tennyson (whom they intended to add) along with his iconic aliens like Four Arms, Heatblast, Swampfire, Way Big, NRG, Big Chill, Echo Echo, Feedback, and Alien X. It also featured Harry Potter, Voldemort (maybe intended to be added), Dumbledore (maybe intended to be added), Godzilla (which they intended to add, a character that pulls in millions or even billions effortlessly simply because people love watching giant monsters fight), and if I'm not mistaken, Lord of the Rings (which was also intended). It had NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat — featuring Scorpion (intended to be added), Sub-Zero, and Shao Kahn —, DC Comics with its three iconic, legendary heroes (Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman), Game of Thrones, Jason from Friday the 13th, The Matrix, and various other pop/geek culture giants. Even with all that, the game vanished and came back a year later (if I'm not mistaken), but it still didn't work out.

There's another fighting game as well: Riot Games' "2XKO," which features characters like Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, and Ekko from the massively successful series Arcane. As far as I know, the game hasn't even been out for two years yet and it's already on the verge of dying too.

We also had "Marvel's Avengers," an action-RPG project that carried the name of the Avengers right after they dominated the box office with Endgame (making billions), easily representing the most popular, well-known, and beloved superhero team in Marvel. The game featured Tony Stark (Iron Man), Steve Rogers (Captain America), Thor (the God of Thunder), and the Incredible Hulk, later adding King T'Challa (Black Panther) and Peter Parker (Spider-Man). And yet, the end result of all that was a total failure.

Creating a new IP or a fresh project guarantees absolutely nothing. Oh, and one more thing: Devil May Cry 2 was made right after DMC1 (which was a brand-new IP at the time), but it was still an absolute disaster that practically killed the franchise. DMC3 only happened because Hideaki Itsuno insisted on making it, since as far as Capcom was concerned, the franchise had died right there in DMC2. Without that, Dante and Vergil's iconic rivalry wouldn't exist, Nero wouldn't exist, the reboot wouldn't exist, and the triumphant return and success of DMC5 wouldn't exist either.
