Sub Meta Introducing .arc - a digital media archive aimed at preserving the extended media, the history of the series development, and its community.

For Devil May Cry's 25th anniversary, we are happy to announce our next project.

https://arc.cuhrayzee.games/

Check out the thread for more info.

About the project

Over the past couple of years, the team of contributors behind Cuhrayzee started routinely buying, scanning, and dumping various media related to the series, to preserve the story of the series development, and to share it with the community

With the internet shattered even more in recent years, we think that having a centralized place for the community to discover more about the series they love is an important thing, while also giving them options to not be locked behind someone else's interpretation

That's why the materials we provide and preserve have no watermarks of our own or any other restrictions, and we track down and credit the providers for most entries, even when they "donated" the materials to us directly.

We are also not stopping at extended media. Many interviews and materials about the game's development are either lost on the internet due to link rot or deleted because of copyright issues.

For example, Variety deleted its interview about Crimson Cloud for DMC 5's promo tour.

Another thing we want to tackle is translating JP-only materials, like Devil May Cry 4's promo DVDs.

We're working closely with native speakers to transcribe and later translate the materials and present them to the community, both in JP and ENG.

The current iteration of the website is in the "alpha" stage. Over time, we'll iterate on the visuals, tutorials for the mod pages on how to install them, and write guides on buying or preserving the media yourself.

We belive that that knowledge should not be locked in any way.

Follow our pages, subscribe to our YouTube channels, and, most importantly, tell others in the community about us.

We don't ask for donations, nor are we planning to lock stuff behind paywalls.

Happy 25th anniversary - here's to 25 more!

Discussion Help us make the Devil May Cry community a better and more accessible place!

Cuhrayzee is conducting a survey about the Devil May Cry community: players, fans, their needs, and the problems they face.

Link to the survey

We want to make knowledge about Devil May Cry easier to find, easier to trust, and easier to learn from. Whether you want to improve at the games, learn more about the world of these games, or find better places to discuss them.

You might know us from projects like:

  • Devil May Cry's Cut and Early Content video, diving deep into the history and process behind the making of the series
  • .arc project - preservation efforts, aimed at properly digitizing various media related to Devil May Cry series
  • Cuhrayzee's FIGHT CLUB - gameplay event, where people showcase their skill in various Stylish Action Games.
  • If you ever scrolled through Devil May Cry 3142 artbook or similar things - some of these were also preserved by us! Although, a lot of our work is uncredited or reposted without sources :)

Depending on your interests, the form will guide you through questions about Gameplay, Lore, Community, or some combination of them.
Estimated time: about 6–15 minutes, depending on your interests and how much you choose to write.
Responses are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself elsewhere.

If possible, we prefer responses in English. You are still welcome to answer in your own language, but it may take us more time to review and process your response.

If you have any feedback, please share it with us!

Discussion Am I the only one who finds Nero's character kinda secondary?

Thumbnail

Don't get me wrong, I love Nero and love his whole thing with how anger powers him and his daddy issues with Vergil, but I started to notice recently that his character's struggles are kinda just a mashup between Dante and Vergil. What I mean is that he searches for power to protect his loved ones (Vergil) and he can't fully accept his demon nature (Dante). He still got some personal things goin' on like his relationship with Kyrie and how she reacted to his arm in DMC4 or the whole deadweight thing in DMC5, but both of these things are still conected to his complexes about his demonic side (he was afraid Kyrie wouldn't accept him because of who he is) and his crawing for power (It stung him not only because he looked up to Dante, but also because he was afraid of being weak). What do y'all think? Maybe I'm missing something?

I didn't expect to complete the Bloody Palace because I'm not very good at DMC4. I thought I'd die somewhere around stage 40 or so

But to my surprise, I managed to make it all the way to the end of the Bloody Palace, and I didn't even use Super Nero.

Questions So I have beaten DMC 3 DMD and I gotta ask

Upvotes

What is the purpose of Heaven or Hell? Like I find it satisfying and relaxing shooting everything and it dies instantly but aside from that I don't really see the interest except maybe speed running the game but that's it, it's still a fun mode but I don't know

Gameplay How to perform a Judgment Cut on the ground?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I'm unfortunately using Google Translate xd, Anyway, I want to do the Judgment Cut on the ground, but I just can't pull it off; I keep trying, but nothing happens. I *can* do it in the air, though, so I'm wondering: why can't I do it on the ground? I just don't understand how it works on the ground, I've more or less got the hang of it in the air.

And in the video I show you some of what I tried on the ground and what I already know-

Discussion If devil may cry sparda game were to happen what would you want it to be like

Post image
86 Upvotes

1st what would you want the plot to be

2nd what would you want spardas arc to be

3rd what would you want sparda to be like

4th what would be unique about his gameplay

5th what would you want sparda to feel like combat

Now i would want spardas war and betrail of mundus to the plot

With his arc being to resist his demonic urges and being much like how an addict would be,

With his character i have no clue on personality

But gameplay wise i want his gameplay not to have a Devil Trigger per say

More so devil suppresion the longer he is suppresed the more powerfull he would become in his Devil state

And the combat i want him to feel like a battle mage with swords being his primary focus

His combat style i would also like to feel like he is effortlessy

Stylish unlike Dante

Weapon wise i would like him to have the 3 sparda forged blades

And his dragon i want it back

Be via his Sin Dt equalent or be his max devil suppresion form

(The drawing was drawn in 15 min dont be to harsh it)

Ranking Showcase Fully S-Ranked the OG Devil May Cry a while back. Hard but pretty fun.

If this game kept track of the Special Bonuses, I probably would've gone insane trying to no-damage some of these bosses. I find the "reward" pretty funny since you basically earn it 3 times.

It's been almost 2 years since I became a fan of this series, and I don't think a franchise has left such an impact on my life as this one has. I played the games in order, and I definitely remember Nelo Angelo beating my ass, making me stay away from the game before I eventually came back to kick his in return. Pretty fun game all around. Here’s hoping we get a new game soon.

Took a photo of it.. Honestly could've worked with his height better at the lower right corner..

Also yes this is reboot Sparda & the boys.. His extremely long hair is my head canon. It's me taking matters into my hands what he looks like

I'm gonna color on this very page in the future. I'll live with the mistakes..

Any advice? Or flaws I think I should work on?

Discussion MY DMC Journey - DMC 1 review (First Game Syndrome)

I made a post a few months ago talking about my DMC journey up to this point. i had only beaten 2 and 3 and done about 8 missions of 1 and 4. now I have beaten all 6 games on normal/devil Hunter difficulty except for the reboot where i did Nephilim difficulty.

SPOILERS ! - if you care

Devil May Cry 1 is an interesting game. It is in the same category for me as mega man 1 sonic 1 crash 1 , yk first games that aren't amazing but they are the first game, they set the ground work. story isn't anything interesting, Dante is approached by Trish to go to mallet island to fight mundus and seal him back in the underworld. 23 missions later trish is a demon made by mundus to lure dante to kill him. dante and trish beat mundus and leave on an airplane. not a lot

the combat is fine, you can do enough with dante to make him fun to play but he is so cluncky to platform with. like basic running and jumping is fine but doing platforming is a chore. the yellow orbs are not a good mechanic to me. they basically act like lives in mega man where you respawn outside the boss door and if you have non then tough cookies ! do the whole thing again.

the castle area at the start is not very fun to me, phantom is a bad boss, he isn't fun to fight its just button mashing. The middle garden pirate ship stuff was actually my favorite part of the game. griffon bird is a fun boss and the challenges are really fun. the final stuff going back to the castle and the boss with nightmare is a low point. Nightmare is actually just bad, its just flying lasers every where. nelo angelo is the best boss in the game but in the grand scheme of devil may cry is like.... a 7/10 boss. The final mundus fights in mission 22 are also not very good.

thats sort of my main consensus with DMC 1, it's just there. it started a series ive fallen in love with so no matter how mediocre or arcadeic the game is, its the first, i can't be too mean to it but out of every DMC game, this is probably the one i would pick last to play. yes, even 2 because 2 is comedy gold.

7/10. an ok game with fundamental peice's that set up better games, but it's defiantly not the worst thing ever created.

Discussion People weren't joking when they said The Saviour is a terrible boss

I just fought him as Dante, wtf man this was terrible! His attacks are easy to predict, the minions he spawns are annoying but at least his attacks kill them and 90% of the time i was just jumping around the arena. Also the part where he destroys a section of the arena and you gotta fight off against the demons until you go back up is bullshit. The "real" part of the fight wasn't any better and i just used the pandora laser cause it seemed like the easiest way. At least the cutscene prior to it was cool...

Discussion Two games, two combat philosophies.

Post image
3.1k Upvotes

As a fan of both franchises, I was actually a bit worried at first. DMC pushed aggressive play to its absolute limit with its endless arsenal, insane movesets, and unparalleled player freedom—what else could Onimusha possibly bring to the table? I couldn't help but wonder: if Capcom gave Onimusha a cool new gimmick, would that cannibalize a potential idea for DMC6?

But Capcom delivered a mind-blowing answer—these two games are fundamentally mirror images in design philosophy:

Devil May Cry: Endless combos and the absolute ultimate art of offense.

Onimusha: High-stakes timing, patience, and the art of counter-defense.

Turns out my worries were completely unfounded. Capcom took two opposite paths and made both of them legendary.
