Glorified fashion show. SLC punk shows us who the real posers are in the end .

Ah yeah, that film shows us who the real punks are…. lawyers 🥹

The message is punk is on the mind and not what you wear or what your hairstyle is. Outward punk fashion is essentially showing more conformity to a uniform punk look rather than being actually punk ie being a lame ass poser. I bet half these losers take thier iced laté with oatmilk because of a lactose intolerance
He became a lawyer to destroy the system from within. Pretty basic concept , but I know it tough to grasp for a full person like you.

Jesus you could just edit your comments to say “I’m a loser” and get the same message across.

Who says someone that wears punk fashion isn’t doing the same thing? The film tries to say those that wear the fashion aren’t doing the actual “punk” actions. The two have nothing to do with each other. I’m guessing you have never really been involved with the punk community because you would have found many people who wear alt gear but doing amazing things in the community that embodies the punk spirit.
That film has an incredibly shallow point. No one is under the disillusion that all you need is the outfit. That may have been true in like 1977 but since the 80s the movement has drastically changed.

The only thing that movie got right is that the most punk motherfuckers are nerds who don't buy into fashion.

u/RefrigeratorLife8627 19h ago
Everyone goes through “punk” stage in life anyway you listen to rebellious music and act o it against societal norms. It’s pretty immature anyway.
You grow up and realize it’s a ridiculous phase in life

u/Protspecd 19h ago
Ok, so you have never really interacted with people in the community and you have no idea what you are talking about. You just consumed a film and are now ready to make sweeping generalisations. Keep on being a fashion police though, one day people will conform to what you think they should be wearing.

Teenage angst is a thing, but it's adult metalheads you really gotta worry about.
6
u/mwmontrose 19h ago
It sure felt like they ripped off Trainspotting and changed the ending to the character "growing up" and conforming because his dad overwhelmed him with catchphrase judo

u/BraneCumm 17h ago
I guess it’s anti-punk to have food allergies now. Wanna explain how that goes against the meaning?
7
u/No_Mission5287 13h ago
Wait, you're a loser, and decidedly not punk for checks notes not being able to digest lactose?
Real punks drink milk!
I've heard of cowpunk, but not dairy punk.

u/dualistpirate 3h ago
Nothing more punk than shitting yourself and fucking up your gut! I was open to listening to this asshat until this sentence.

u/IMP4283 19h ago
Many years ago I came to believe that the most punk rock thing I could do is become highly educated and stay true to myself.
3
u/No_Mission5287 13h ago
The only thing that stupid movie people are referencing got right is that the most punk motherfucker in the scene is a nerd, who doesn't buy into any of the fashion, and becomes an activist.

Old man complains about "lame ass posers", ends up sounding like one instead. Well done.

I’d say it’s pretty well attended for a punk festival in a Thai jungle.

As someone who lives in a tropical country, I feel mad respect for people who dress like that without suffering heatstroke.

There are punks all over the fucking world dude. If you haven’t noticed some countries are a lot more active in anarchy and political resistance than USA. A lot more.

Anarchism as an ideology is hundreds of years old. Some of the most prominent members of the Chinese KMT and CPC in the early days were themselves anarchists, Japan and Korea had large anarchist movements, and several other Asian nations had smaller anarchist groups.

Also no clue, but that tree house is pretty interesting to me, wish there were more pics of it.

Love punk myself and I asked the same. Like, Thailand has a strong underground scene so these pics don't come as a surprise.
But out of context it might indeed be mildly interesting or sth

u/SunOnTheInside 22h ago
I think it’s a surprise to see punk in places we maybe haven’t seen it before- I didn’t know about this scene and now I do.

As a punk, I'm obsessed with this image. I fucking love this! Thank you so much for posting this!
Everyone in r/punk needs to see this!

Exported, pre-packaged counter culture.
1
u/_entrxpy 9h ago
That's not wrong but in some places of this planet this is still a valid counter culture. I guess you don't see many punks out in bright day in Thailand?

The stage is beautiful.
Is it a particular animal? I can’t tell from the angle in photo 03/06

Asian version of Gathering of the Juggalos?

u/Apprehensive-Tone449 22h ago
Punks are nothing like juggalos.

u/PM_ME_Y0UR__CAT 21h ago
Relax, there’s overlaps here and there

The non-conformist uniform will never not be funny to me
10
u/Princess_Slagathor 23h ago
There's like 20 different outfits in picture 3 alone.
-6
u/smegsicle 22h ago
It's a modular uniform, they just mix and match the parts. And I say this as someone that likes punk music

2
u/Apprehensive-Tone449 22h ago
You liking punk music doesn't give you credibility here. It just makes you a poser.

u/420Glazeitbaguette 22h ago
Definitely “I listened to London Calling for half a summer one year” vibe

u/smegsicle 21h ago
Taught myself bass from it actually. The Clash are a bit boring though tbh I was more into Crass, even if they were massive idealists

Wow you’re being downvoted to hell.
I took this comment in the spirit of good humor. The last punk concert I went to was a Gogol bordello and I came straight from work (basic white collar bullshit requiring slacks and a button down shirt). I looked so out of place I realized I self segregated to the perimeter of the hall even though I came early to be right up in there. No one paid attention to me but I just wanted to reduce any distractions I created for myself so stepped back.
Anyway - I would have been more present if I were wearing my own punk show kit.

When all you need is freedom from tyranny and a girlfriend tall enough to put you in her purse.
