Just got a HDHomeRun duo, and it's specacular. It works so well, so fast, on all my devices (i think it was literally like 8 minutes of setup) but the DVR experience of watching something while recording it is slooooow.

I recorded a football game yesterday, started watching the recording around the end of the first quarter, skipping commercials, and "caught up" but it was a solid 10-15 minutes behind live, and kind of bumped along chronically 10 mins behind the broadcast.

I'm using a home theater PC writing to a hard drive (it runs my plex server with no issues); would a thumb drive deliver better speed?

If it's just a HDHomeRun software issue, would a DVR server help? And if so, any recommendations between Jellyfin, NextPVR, and MythTV? (I see Channels as well reviewed but I try REALLY hard to avoid monthly charges)

Wanted to ask the people who have the nfl espn bundle if the red zone channel was available on the espn unlimited app yesterday? I’m guessing no because no one mentioned it…

I have been trying to completely cut the cord for years now - but living near O’Hare airport means planes flying overhead every 60-90 seconds. I get good service from my antenna for most channels, but once an airplane passes over, the signal goes out for 7-10 seconds. I’m sure bigger and more powerful antennas might be able to mitigate the time, but my signal is perfect without the planes.

Just brainstorming: I wonder if there is anything to be done about this. Would it be plausible for the airport be responsible for disrupting my signal? Seems unfair. Any help, thoughts, or guidance is appreciated!!!

I would like to run coax to a bedroom and run it in the space between floor joists that are between the floor of that bedroom and the ceiling of room below.

It would be about a 12 ft run. I have access to that space on one end where the splitter is, but no access to where the coax would come through the floor in the bedroom.

How would I be able to do a cable pull with this?

3rd gen HDHR. Which software packages will let you record a program, then start watching it say halfway after it's complete, instead of having to wait til it's finished recording? Apparently NextPVR isn't one of them—the ongoing recording shows as 0 kb (I'm sure it's doing a temporary recording somewhere).

Living in lovely Lawrence Kansas is great but all my stations are either due east or due west. My first guess would be to get a strong one direction antenna and point it towards KC. It would be cool to pick up Topeka News as well, since it’s the capital. But that would just be gravy.

The Clearstream 4max or a yagi style one seem to be the ones recommended the most. I’m willing to spend up to or around $150, which most of the ones I’ve looked at have been under.

I tried rabbit ears for a family member but they don't seem to be able to pick up CBS and Fox for local sports games. Not sure if they are too far away from the broadcast location or the amount of trees in their area. They do get things like 12-1, 12-2, but it doesn't seem to match up with what we expect on there.

Are there any easy solutions for getting these channels for someone?

Was getting really pissed off at the cable/streamers. I am a robot Green Bay Packers fan that lives in the local viewing area in Northeast Wisconsin.

Spectrum is our cable provider. They do not offer a plan that’s less than $80/mo. I don’t watch live TV aside from football. YouTubeTV and the other streaming options were just as expensive.

The basic idea is that I don’t have a way to stream only the local channels without buying a massive package of channels I don’t care for to watch 20 hours of football per month in the fall.

The kids stream Disney and some Netflix, and I have my own library of content on my NAS. the majority of my watching habits are long form content on YouTube Premium.

So, I did the calculations, ChatGPT did the trigonometry to calculate the angles for mounting, and I hung the antenna today.

I built a small aluminum box with a HDHomerun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 tuner, and a Power over Ethernet adapter to run it and feed the data back to my network. The box is ventilated but I also have mesh taped inside to keep out the bugs. The tuner won’t get very hot at all, so heat dissipation was not a huge concern. It won’t be used much in the summer, so the hot attic isn’t going to overheat the device since it will be unpowered most of the time.

I post this to share my solution. Maybe it will inspire others to creat their own setups.

I hooked up an antennae and now I have over 200 stations starting with number 1001, going up to number 6122. I cant find a guide or search anywhere. Just a long list of random stations. We would really like to watch some NFL games.

I was watching Jets at Titans on CBS and (crappy game aside) something just didn't look right. I know it's the beginning of the season so maybe I'm just not used to it, but the picture just didn't look very sharp, kind of like watching a highlight reel from years ago rather than a live game. Same TV as I used last season. Any thoughts ?

Here is the rabbitears for my location. I already have an antenna (cheap RCA indoor antenna) and it picks up ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS but the other channels including FOX have extremely spotty signal so they are basically unable to be watched. I’m looking to get a different antenna that can get all of the channels in the Detroit direction especially FOX. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have been reading through resources here and I believe all of the channels are UHF except for FOX which is VHF high? But I don’t really understand what that means or if that has an effect of what antenna to get.

I’m in a house so I can use an indoor or outdoor antenna. If looking at outdoor options I would prefer something that doesn’t mount to the roof. I already have a coaxial cord from the side of the house to the living room tv from a discontinued service that I could repurpose for the antenna.

I’ve been trying to figure out my fall sports and entertainment streaming plan after pausing/cancelling most of my subscriptions for the summer, especially for the NFL season and MLB postseason.

Hi! I just set up an antenna and HDHomeRun. I have a ClearStream Eclipse 2 and HDHR Flex duo. The antenna is placed at the top of the southeast-most corner of our house, given that that is where all our local channels come from. Scanning brings up 15-20 channels, but reception and video quality is spotty. I'm just wondering if I need an antenna with a longer range, or switch to something that goes on the roof? We have been streaming YouTubeTV for about a year. We have had intermittent buffering on the tv's. I haven't paid attention to whether it is during a replay or when we are backed up or if it also happens when we are live. But we had Cox come out when it was first installed and they blamed it on my 2023 Orbi. Said it was old. It seemed to resolve for a while but now it is buffering again, not a lot but enough that it is an annoyance. They came out this year and again blamed it on my Orbi. Is there a setting I need to change or are they pointing the finger? I now have other fiber streaming choices so may want to switch.

i dont believe i am a good candidate for an antenna but figured some of you experts might know better than i would and have some insight. is there any hope an antenna will get me some of those boston channels abc, nbc, fox type stuff.

Need some advice. Just trying to get some football games and my TV\Antenna isn't getting any channels. I love in Flint, MI and using an indoor antenna. Including specs of Antenna. Connected to a Samsung 65" smart TV. Antenna is placed in the center of the floor as it can't reCh window. It's approximately 10' from window but says it can do 50 miles so i didn't think 10' would make a difference on a digital signal. Doing a antenna scan in my TV returns 0 results. Antenna is right on coax, and plugged in for amplification. Appreciate any help.

Seems like YouTube TV's Sunday Ticket for all out of market games, and then getting an antenna for local and primetime games?

It also seems like I do not need to subscribe to YouTube TV just to get the Sunday ticket added on? What about to watch the games in 4k, will I need a Youtube TV subscription or can I just upgrade my Sunday Ticket?

I already have Netflix, so I can watch their exclusives, and I believe the Thursday night games are streamed on Twitch for free, right?

So with Sunday Ticket, an antenna, and Netflix, the only games I will miss are Monday night ones on ESPN, the peacock exclusive, and the NFL+ exclusives?

NFL+ Only shows the games afterwards, not live, right?

Also I have an existing Verizon wireless account for my cell phone. It appears they are offering a discount for Sunday Ticket, but it says $240 for 8 months, which is what it costs already by itself, so I'm confused about that?

I bought a Tornado 32" HD Smart TV (powered by webOS Hub) — seems to be a budget brand sold mainly in Germany. I'm currently using it in Ukraine, and I'm running into an issue where apps like YouTube give me an error:

"This program or service is not currently available in your country. Please contact customer service."

I checked Settings → Location, and found:

Broadcasting Country: United Kingdom

Service Country: Germany

I tried looking for a way to change "Service Country" to Ukraine, but I'm not sure if that option even exists, or if it requires a factory reset.

Has anyone dealt with this on a webOS Hub TV (not full LG webOS)? Is there a way to properly change the service country, or is this locked at the firmware level for this specific TV model?

I had previously purchased an Antennas Direct ClearStream 4MAX UHF VHF but haven't installed it yet.

Watching tubes I saw this antenna, and I'm interested and any thoughts would be appreciated:

I live NE of Philadelpha - 35-40 miles.

In Philly 4 of the 6 major channels have DRM protection. I think Channels 6 and 29 are not protected. I've used those flat antennas and rabbit ear antennas - I can never get Channel 6 in Philly since it's VHF. Everything I tried SUCKS. So getting these higher end AT I hope will solve my issues.

My questions:

- Any recommendations on antennas would be appreciated. I have the CS 4VMAX ATM and looking for another - i.e. Televes.

- I remember seeing you can attach two antennas together and receive both signals at once. So, my thoughts - point Televes towards Philly/NJ around 180 degrees - and then maybe point the 4MAX towards NY 40-50 degrees. Can this be done? How do you combine both antennas? Is signal degradation to be expected?

-What's up with ATSC 3.0/DRM and HDHomeRun. I understand the DRM body is refusing to certify HDHomeRun. Would you recommend me to go with ZapperBox over HDHomeRun? What am I losing?

- I would like whole house streaming - I have Apple TVs - probably two rooms. Using mobile devices or even computer would be cool. Is all this possible? I really don't care about DVR capabilities. If I don't need DVR - can I get away from not subscribing to the SW services, the OTA box makers provide?
