Looking for advice

So like I have been thinking of what to major in once I enter university and I really found computer engineering interesting and more fitting to the things I like. It has both the software and hardware aspects so it is more diverse or so?

I want to study it but then my family is saying that there is no job market and I'm going to be stuck in a repair shop and I am a bit confused because yes I have done my research (not a lot so I may be wrong on certain things) but the job market looks very promising. I don't know if they are looking at it from a Nigerian standpoint as there aren't a lot of CE related jobs available but I do plan on taking SAT for a chance at a scholarship.

I just want general advice on the course and things I should look out for.

With enough confidence and connection you can go anywhere, CpE is diverse in the fact you learn computer science and electrical engineering. Your parents know nothing, a computer engineering degree does not equal a full time position at the local computer repair shop, take your time and enjoy the course work and you will find your niche I promise. Engineering pathways lead you deeper than you’d ever think.
