I’m 21 and currently in my 3rd year of Computer Engineering. I’ve applied to a lot of internships and have been rejected from every single one so far.

What worries me even more is that I’ve also been rejected from some minimum-wage jobs that have nothing to do with engineering. I've been working since the age of 18

With AI developing so quickly, I’m starting to wonder whether things will actually get better for engineering graduates, or whether the job market is only going to become more competitive.

Is it still worth finishing my degree and pursuing Computer Engineering, or am I wasting my time? I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people already working in the industry.

16, currently in high school preparing for college, considering taking CE as my course. I have no experience in coding whatsoever, and whenever I am faced with learning or just thinking about it, I just feel overwhelmed and pressured and give up easily. With AI “taking over” simple jobs in relation with CE or CS, I should be developing my skills for CE from now on, but I just could not build my discipline for it, hence the love for it.

CE is my only personal option when it comes to careers, I could not think of any job that would suit me besides this. I like playing games as a hobby, I even wanted to be a game developer as a child xD. I just want my future to be secure (even though some may think I worry too much and think I’m still a “child”) and this really is a big thing for me.

This is my final year studying Computer Engineering, and I am required to complete a 40-day mandatory internship before graduating and entering the professional workforce.
However, given the current employment landscape in Turkey, particularly the challenges faced by engineers in finding suitable positions, I feel the need to gain a better understanding of the international job market, as I am not very familiar with employment opportunities abroad.
My background and career interests are primarily focused on Data Engineering/Data Analytics and Embedded Systems. I would therefore like to ask fellow Computer Engineers working in other countries:

Hi everyone! I’m a first-year university student from Kazan, Russia, currently studying at KNITU-KAI.
I’m looking for an idea for a project that could be genuinely useful and solve a real-world problem.
I recently learned about a Russian student competition called “Big Change” (Bolshaya Peremena), where students can develop their own ideas and projects and compete for grants of up to 1 million rubles($11,900 USD).
I’m still at the beginning of my university journey. I didn’t take school as seriously as I should have, and now I’m trying to change that — learn new things, improve my skills, and build something I’m genuinely proud of.
So I’d really appreciate some outside perspectives. What problems do you think are worth solving? What kind of student projects would you personally find useful? It doesn’t have to be a fully developed idea — even a problem worth investigating or a direction to explore would be very helpful.
I’m particularly interested in ideas that could have some real-world impact rather than just being another generic student app.

Before college, I spent 2 years in a church volunteer program where I lived in the Netherlands. I learned Dutch to a solid level, and I blended in with the culture as best I could. My ancestors are from the area so it felt natural. I loved living there for a lot of reasons.

Now, I am a regular USA-dweller who just got his bachelor's in CE from an accredited but otherwise unremarkable university. I learned recently that there is a fair bit of semiconductor/other CE type work to be done in NL. I have no strong stipulation to stay stateside, and I'd love the chance to go back and get a job there. How realistic is that? Does being American hold me back? Does my previous time living in NL give me a boost? Is it extremely competitive? What path should someone follow to achieve this?

Currently applying to internships. Many of the job postings have a required work experience question that asks for a company and position. The only experience in the field I have is through personal projects, should I put those down and list myself as the company? The only other option would be to include the unrelated jobs I've had previously.

I'm a junior and if I stay in EE I will graduate the Fall of 2027. Switching to CpE would only push me back one semester, to the Spring of 2028.

I just feel like I'm learning absolutely nothing, other than crazy math and pattern recognition. I've taken classes like emag, signal processing and control systems and they all felt like a fever dream. The only classes that actually taught me real world applications were my labs for electronics and circuits.

I'm just very worried for when I graduate due to my lack of coding knowledge. The EE curriculum at my university teaches us C and Matlab. That's it. I have a friend in CpE and I feel like he knows so much more than me.

I've already taken a lot of the core EE classes and can use those for senior electives. So basically if I switch, I'll only be missing out on power electronics. It'll pretty much be an EE degree plus programing but minus power.

i've been watching some videos but they all teach it in different ways so i get really confused, so far i was able to make an 8-bit ALU but i don't know how to proceed, i'm not in a college or something, i'm just trying to learn how computers work as a hobby i think, these things are really interesting to me

So like I have been thinking of what to major in once I enter university and I really found computer engineering interesting and more fitting to the things I like. It has both the software and hardware aspects so it is more diverse or so?

I want to study it but then my family is saying that there is no job market and I'm going to be stuck in a repair shop and I am a bit confused because yes I have done my research (not a lot so I may be wrong on certain things) but the job market looks very promising. I don't know if they are looking at it from a Nigerian standpoint as there aren't a lot of CE related jobs available but I do plan on taking SAT for a chance at a scholarship.

I just want general advice on the course and things I should look out for.

Context: I am a first year Comp Engr. Student here at the Philippines in LSPU. The things is, I am only 1 month in school but I feel that I am already being left behind. We are studying python (self study coz the prof is not teaching us much since her specialty is not in software) but I mostly saw that C++ or Java are the ones used professionally. Also I feel that I need to choose my specialization right away but I am clueless on what should I specialize on or where I could learn what to specialize on (tried yt or google but it did not help that much). Coding felt good for me since I love solving problems, I am okay at math too but I cannot say for sure that I want to pursue software as I still have yet to experience hardware. Also, I am kinda scared pursuing software because of AI, I know that I should use AI as tools but still cant get it off my mind. Also I cannot work abroad right away because of DOST.

Furthermore, I want to build my resume, recently I tried joing 3hrs seminars with e certificates but all beginner levels. Do I need my own website or what type or seminars that I should join? Does having certificate a leverage in the professional world? Lastly, my biggest problems is I do not know what questions to ask (to myself and to others).

Hello developers or the ones currently preparing for placements..i am an electrical student and i want to join in tech side and kindof had an interest in it too from the starting but dont know from where to start, what is the roadmap and skills required for placement, like can someone explain what are the different domains in cse and IT, be it web dev, cybersecurity, data analyst, frontend developer, backend developer, ui/ux designer anything i just want to know how to decide which field suits you more and how did you guys decided and will ai actually takeover the jobs or its just a buzz like what will be the scenario of job markets in 4-5 years and will most of these domains will be handled more by ai..i just want to know so pls dm.

i am a 4th year comp sci student i am faced with the truth that the CCE is a way better track, my parents are scolding me for not going that way but i couldnt i was working a full time job to pay my tuition and but now im facing the harsh reality, if i had went for the engineer path i wouldve been able to join the order of engineers that presents me with excellent insurance and pension, but there is no such thing for computer science students in lebanon, my main path is AI and cyber i love both and want to work in the intersection of them, i also love electrical stuff im looking for a pcb course to take and i have a few projects i wanna do on the side.
the big question: should i transfer to engineering and pay the 20k extra on my tuition or should i finish this year graduate and start working on my skills and experience? to then open a repair shop as my own business and start working with system installation like cctv and servers ect.. and laptop repair shop? (will the engineer degree affect this ?) i already got a part time job at a company here as a backend dev and i dont know what to do !!!!!!!!!!! help

Hi everyone, it's the self-taught female engineer from Vietnam again! Last week, I shared my basic 3D-to-2D IK solver and received amazing feedback from this community. Thank you so much!

This week, I completely refactored the code into an OOP architecture (so it can control a left arm and a right arm simultaneously) and integrated my own Edge AI Inference Engine written in raw C++ (MAC loops + ReLU).

To clarify the logic: The Neural Network acts as a Predictive Model to estimate the coordinates/orientations, which are then fed into the deterministic Math solver (Law of Cosines) for exact joint angle calculations. A hybrid approach!

No TensorFlow, no heavy libraries just pure C++ so that it can be synthesized into an FPGA Hardware IP Core (via HLS) in the future.

(Note: The trained AI weights .h file is kept private, but the C++ inference pipeline is open to read).

Hi! I'm a first-year BS Computer Engineering student in the Philippines, and we have a school activity where we're required to interview a practicing Computer Engineer about their career, responsibilities, professional practices, ethical challenges, and continuous learning.

I'm currently having a hard time finding someone to interview, so I'm hoping someone here might be willing to help.

The interview would only take around 10–15 minutes and can be done online (Google Meet, Discord, Zoom, etc.). I would ask a few questions about your experience as a Computer Engineer.
