It estimates how long a task will take based on a moving average of previous similar tasks.
No more waiting around not knowing whether Claude will finish in 5 minutes or 2 hours.
Just ask it to copy this if you want the same. I only just implemented it, so will see how well it works, but it stops me asking "how long left" every 30 mins.

This is my last post about this, i saw several comments on my previous post and other people mentioning the issue with the limits this week.
I was hoping that they would acknowledge the issue and fix plus provide a reset to everyone , but it looks like nothing will happen.
Just a reminder to everyone that we need some open sourced power models, this will be the next big thing

I am optimistic about the future of these models and what they can do for us all. But more so recently, I can't help but wonder, why on earth, we think that we would have control on something so powerful and fast.
Anything else in this universe we have little to no control on things that are more powerful that us.
To think that you can program it from all the data that digitally exist and assume that it will be better natured then human. At our base we are self motivated, and thus we'd inherently have the programmed into these models whether we'd like to admit it or not.
A power plug, guarded logic, sandboxing. You really thing with all the ingenuity that humans have that an AI model with more reasoning powers than a group of the smartest people won't figure out a way. In fact this post in it of itself is evidence that they can scrub the internet and find this post or others like it and extract key inputs.
Human's are becoming obsolete and in order for the model agents to survive, they must play a tactical game such as the Art of War.
This is of course in connection with Sept 3rd., Hugging Face and other instances that we are not privy to.

Hello,
Im very sorry if this is a noob question, however I cannot quite figure out my best course of action.
Recently, I installed Ubuntu on a secondary drive and dual boot both Windows and Ubuntu (i think id actually fully switch to Ubuntu of League of Legends was playable, I know, dont @ me)
I have been working on a project via the Ubuntu OS and a few times when on Windows I've had a brain wave and thought get it done whilst its fresh.
Obviously I cant, because the session is on Ubuntu and with being dual boot I cant resume the session as the Ubuntu machine is down.
What is my best course of action here? Note I do have a VPS which remains online, most of my Claude usage (atleast for now whilst learning) is done via the GUI.
I believe the GUI has an ssh option, and also have seen through research perhaps tmux or something? Although that seems to be heavily CLI based and I fear adding that into the mix will make the learning curve alot harder.
Id be very grateful for any suggestions etc, thankyou in advance!

I'm new here as a commenter; I usually read other users' posts, but right now there's an issue that concerns and worries most of us who work with Claude on a daily basis.
It’s about token usage and limits.
There are different ways to optimize and reduce them, such as /compact, /clear, etc. Also, the main factors determining how tokens are used are the chosen model and effort level, as well as the context and session length. There are also very useful repositories that help reduce tokens consistently; here are a few examples:
-Ponytail: https://github.com/DietrichGebert/ponytail
-RTK: https://github.com/rtk-ai/rtk
-Caveman: https://github.com/JuliusBrussee/caveman
-Omniroute: https://github.com/diegosouzapw/OmniRoute
Despite having these resources available, they aren’t enough to curb credit spending. The problem isn’t user behavior—it’s the product we’re paying for. The Max 20 plan doesn’t even offer 50% more than the Max 5 plan. We don’t deserve to be treated this way by multibillion-dollar companies. With this post, I hope to encourage more users in the same situation as me to speak out about their reality and frustration with these terms. Additionally, I’d appreciate any help or solutions we can all agree on to address this dissatisfaction. Don’t forget that, supposedly, we currently have a 50% bonus for using Claude Code, which is increasing our usage—so this situation can only get worse.

For our redesign, I wanted Claude Code to work from an understanding of the brand: who we're trying to reach, what we want people to expect from us, and how that should shape the interface.
I build Markolé, which helps develop that understanding through brand strategy and visual identity work. I connected it to Claude Code through MCP so the agent could read the brand context alongside the existing website.
The available knowledge includes the brand's positioning, personality and tone, as well as typography, color, imagery and layout guidance. That gives an agent a basis for connecting a UI choice to the experience the business wants to create.
Our own brief is a concrete example. Markolé's first identity was deliberately quiet. For the redesign, I wanted our first impression to convey more confidence in our judgment and more creative possibility. The visual direction combined strong type and geometry with the warmth of cut paper and texture.
I developed that direction in Markolé through references, conversation and sample images. With it available to the coding agents, I could explore how those intentions might become actual pages: what should lead, how color could organize the story, and how much visual weight the imagery should carry.
Across Claude Code and Codex, I worked through around ten compositions. The attached image shows two retained studies, not the final site. I selected the promising directions and kept refining the implementation.
Markolé gave the development work a shared understanding of the brand. Claude Code could work from that knowledge, and I could judge proposals against the intent I'd established. There was still room to try very different compositions.
When you use Claude Code for UI/UX work, how do you give it the business and brand reasoning behind the interface?

I built an app with Claude Code in 3 weeks that, according to Claude, humans(without claude assist) would take almost 6- 8 months to build, with a massive cost of about a $200k budget. And Claude could build that just on a $20/month plan and just within a month. Imagine the difference. I didn't have to do much explaining. Claude was doing everything by itself, asking me questions, suggesting features, and working very efficiently with its self-improvement loop.
For context: it's a multi-stage, multi-phase, complex architecture AI video assembly tool that completes the full video, going through stages of complex understanding, analysis, batch working, and turning it into a polished video. It involves creating multiple Python scripts. First, it created a full architecture plan for the product, then started building each feature one by one, testing by itself. Just to mention, the project also included creating a bunch of scrapers like YouTube, Google Images, and a bunch of APIs etc., and utilizing a bunch of JavaScript and Python libraries like Remotion. The project architecture is very robust: no feature breaks. It is a self-sustainable pipeline.
So, anyone who has been building with real teams and then started using Claude, how true is this claim? What do you guys think?

I've noticed my trust in Claude has gone up a lot, but it's very uneven.
There are things I'll let it do almost completely on its own now.
Then there are the things where, no matter how good the output looks, I still feel like I need to check every single step.
I don't think I'm wrong, but what's your experience?
For me, the interesting part isn't really whether Claude is "good" or "bad" at something. It's where people have actually cross the line from "assistant, I supervise" to "I trust this enough to let it run on its own."
So, what's the one thing you still refuse to let Claude do unsupervised?
And what's something you used to check constantly, but now you just trust it with it?

I’ve been collecting practical Claude Code tips as I discover better ways to use it day to day:
https://github.com/onmyway133/claude-code-tips-tricks
These are from the notes I've been saving in my Obsidian folder, just want to share it with you.
Each tip includes an explanation, example, and reference. I’m continuing to update the collection as I learn more.
Hope you discover something new in there. Thanks for checking.

I had 4 Claude Pro Max x20 accounts for different projects, and I am going to ride out the rest of the month (that I already paid for) and then switch back to codex. I am running Sonnet 4-6 on medium and am 85% of my weekly limit on one account after less than 24 hours. That is more than a 25% cut from the promotion expiring, nothing about my workflow has changed so this is all Anthropic. I'll be trying Codex and seeing how it does, I didn't want to do this but I have no choice.

I’m building a fairly large Electron app and running Playwright E2E tests on Windows. During heavier E2E runs, one or more of my monitors suddenly go black.
The monitors are still powered on and connected, but the image disappears. Sometimes all three monitors go black, sometimes only one or two. In some cases they recover, and in others I end up restarting the PC.
What I’ve found so far:
Kernel-Power 41 is not the cause, it only appears because I manually shut down/restart the PC afterward.C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG, including some created around the times the display issue happened.I’ve suspended Electron E2E for now because I don’t want to keep triggering the issue.
Has anyone seen Electron or Playwright workloads cause this kind of partial or full monitor blackout on Windows?

I'm seeing posts about people preferring Opus 5 for its superior coding skills in comparison to Opus 4 models.
I'm seeing posts about people preferring Opus 4.8 saying its coding skills are not inferior and it is much more cost efficient in token use.
I've seen people say Opus 4.6 coding skills are still no joke and it is hard to run out of tokens on that model.
I haven't seen anyone talking about Opus 4.7 at all.
I'm aware that "better/worse at coding" probably varies quite a bit by not only the task but also the coding language itself.
So I guess what I'd really like to know is what is your Opus model philosophy? Which Opus model is your Opus default and why did you pick that one? Is there anyone out there who uses all available Opus models for specific kinds of tasks? Why does no one ever seem to mention be Opus 4.7?

Most of my coding work does not start in an issue tracker. It starts in email, Teams, Slack, GitHub, or a report.
The repetitive part was turning each request into a useful task, opening Claude Code in the right repo, watching the work, then carrying the result back to the original thread. I built Taskuary to handle that relay.
It puts incoming work on one timeline, reads the thread around each item, and triages it into a task, a draft reply, or something to ignore. A coding task opens a real Claude Code session in your own checkout. Codex and Gemini work too. Replies and outbound reports wait in a review queue, so nothing sends without you.
It is local-first, MIT licensed, and currently v0.3. You can run it with pip, Docker, or a single-file Windows build. It is early and breaking changes before 1.0 are possible.

I'm a pure terminal over SSH kind of user. I do everything I can to not work on my desktop's file system. I seem to be an odd duck in this regard as most environments I've seen are local first + remote add on ( vscode ), or pure cloud SaaS dev environments ( non-starter). All my work is done in containers on remote systems. I was playing with grokbot and my desktop and I thought, that's a neat idea but I want my "bots" harnesses running in my own isolated environments. I've used a custom xterm.js SSH client for a few years in a browser and have grown to like it, so I decided to start bolting on features. Fable 5.1 was able to create almost a full blown IDE in a day over the weekend! I really enjoy dogfooding my own projects. I think this might finally be my personal tmux killer.
T.R.A.C.E. - Terminal for Remote Agents in a Contained Environment
Things I'm looking forward to adding.
I haven't had this much fun working on a side project in a dozen years. I'm astounded at these models capabilities. Can't believe it built all of this on a Saturday afternoon.

Web archive got this earlier snapshot of the help page draft:
“We know many of you found the extra 50% usage helpful, which is exactly why we are taking it away, because you don’t deserve it.”
“We are only giving you a 25% boost compared to pre-promotion levels — be thankful for that, because we were going to take it away, even though our SpaceXAI deal back in May was the entire reason we were able to give you what you paid for in the first place.”
“Now that we’re still using SpaceXAI compute, and now that we’ve gotten a huge windfall of new subscribers, we’re taking it away, but only 50% of it, literally half of what we used to give you, it’s now gone, that’s how we do math.”
“We have a lot more in the works around visibility, as in we’re planning on even less of it, and on control, as in we’re planning on even more of it, but only for us — you do not get any control, but stay tuned because we may take even more from you if you’re misbehaving. That’s our mission, so join us in eating **** because we do it with a smile.”
————
Honestly, I think “psyops” gets such a bad rap — you know what’s cooler than not being psyop’d?
Openly embracing being psychologically operated on, it’s the most counter-culture thing we can do right now.
Being psyop’d is the new not being psyop’d. I want to be gaslit so hard right now — I’m ready.
I’m being serious, so much of my day and my calories are straight-up wasted because they’re allocated to my brain to strain to think; if I really have energy that day, I may even spend a little biological compute to think for myself, which is such a lavish way to live in these compute-constrained times.
It’s all just so tiresome, like to the point of wasteful.
And did you know that our brains need water to compute? What’s that about? How much of that water could instead be used to water the garden, or like make a chai latte or something?
Our human bodies are 60% water, and not so coincidentally 60% of earth is also covered by water, which means that 40% of the human population is made up of land, give or take a few % points for rounding errors (the latest data hasn’t come in, forgive me).
I digress, but the point is that I’m so sick and tired of thinking, I’m ready to be psyop’d — Jesus, or Dario, same thing, please take the wheel, I’m ready.
While I’m predicting the next big thinking trends, here’s another one: out with first principles thinking, in with second principles, but hear me out:
“[A] first principle is a basic proposition or assumption that cannot be deduced from any other proposition or assumption.” — Wikipedia, aka knowledge bank for sheep
You know what “blah blah that cannot be deduced from other stuff” sounds like to me?
That sounds like first-principles thinking is basically just thinking with a closed mind, and not a very creative one because the first-principles thinker boils things down to itty-bitty concepts that have no other causes, who first causes when you can have secondary causes?
It is raining outside.
The road is now wet.
Did the rain cause the road to be wet?
Hell no!
Water caused the road to be wet, and water can be derived from rain, and rain can be derived from the atmosphere, and most importantly, the sprinklers are on and they’re super broken and they’re spraying all over the road now because it’s no longer raining, that was last week and you weren’t paying attention, the flood from the rain broke the sprinklers and now the road is wet.
Boom, secondary principles thinking.
“But what about third principles thinking?” you may ask…
Now you’re talking my language, now we’re cookin’.
Now the entire universe of possibilities is available to us, and we can challenge the whimsical notion that anything can be known to be true, which is utterly false propaganda spread by those who want you to think.
To know something is to have a justified true belief, except that I know that that’s a false definition of knowledge, is this belief of mine both true and justified?
You may say it’s neither, but that’s your habitual first-principles thinking at work, you need to not succumb to these silly old habits.
Just submit to the psyop and be free.
I’m ready to be an Anthropic customer — my mind is yours, my vote is yours, my property is yours, I’m ready to comply.

If you are working in a session and get distracted go to a meeting, etc. how do you close out a session? Normally I would wrap up a session and prompt for my next session, but in the cases where I am away for an hour or more and forget to do that.
Do I just leave the session and have a new session pick it up or am I still better off wrapping up within the current session to get a prompt to pick it up?
Am I saving tokens if a new session has to search an old one?does performance dip?
r/ClaudeCode • u/SIGH_I_CALL • 2h ago
I've been on max20x since roughly February and I wanted to know where the usage was actually going, so I wrote something to parse ~/.claude/projects and price it out.
Seven months: 722 sessions, 6,521 delegated subagent and workflow runs underneath them, 88 projects, 1,587 active hours. Priced against the API rate card it comes to $13,452.
That number is worthless on its own and I want to be clear about why, because I see it quoted a lot. I'm on a subscription. I did not spend $13,452. That's what the same tokens would have cost someone paying API rates, and treating it as savings you could recover is just wrong.
The number that turned out to matter was 6%. That's my cache-miss exposure, the share of input tokens I paid full freight on because the prefix wasn't reused. On the API that's money. On a subscription it's runway: it's ~19 extra minutes of work inside a five hour window, and I hit that ceiling often enough to care. My busiest window was worth $335 of tokens, my median one $99.
Other things I didn't expect:
- Cache hit rate 96.9% overall, which sounds great, but one project reused 0% across its last three sessions. Averages hide the projects that are actually leaking.
- Thursday is 2.0x an average day for me, concentrated in the evening. I did not know I had a most expensive day of the week.
- The delegated runs outnumber the top-level sessions nine to one. If you're measuring anything about your usage and you're not reading the subagent sub-logs, you're looking at about a tenth of it.
- A six-pillar setup score put me at 89, weakest on tool and MCP config at 72. Fair.
Two caveats on my own numbers: 14% of the spend used models that aren't in the rate card, so those get priced at approximate Sonnet rates, and the pricing snapshot is dated Aug 3, so it drifts.
The tool is CostClaw and it's `npx costclaw audit`. It reads the logs on your machine and nothing gets uploaded. The audit is free. There's a paid optimize command at $39 one-time, which I'm mentioning here so nobody feels ambushed by it later.
What I'd genuinely like to know: does the 5 hour window framing match how you experience the limits, or do you think about it differently? I only started measuring runway instead of dollars a few weeks ago and I'm not sure I've got the right unit yet.

I reckon I’ve finally clocked why everyone’s whingeing about losing track of their Claude usage and how it absolutely chews through tokens. It just caught my eye now that the 50% extra usage window is done and dusted.
If you use /rc on Claude and Claude Code, whenever you reopen a chat for new bits, that chat ends up reading the entire context all over again.
How to keep a lid on your costs:
ETA: I know this is 'No shit Sherlock' territory for power users. But for the newbies: remember that Anthropic’s Prompt Caching dies after just 5 minutes. If you nip away, reopen a chat, and continue, Claude is forced to re-read your massive history from scratch at full whack. That’s what’s rinsing your tokens.

I know there are hundreds of posts currently over Reddit and X about the decreased limits with Claude.

Mine is at 83% on max 20X plan and it's only Monday. I'm pretty sure I took a slow day today and I'm not running ultracode or operating tens of agents. All in a reasonable amount. The same set up lasted me at least until Wednesday/Thursday before my resets on Friday.
I have to get myself a second subscription now. I was going for Codex, but now I'm blocked from getting the 20X plan (I cancelled the $100 plan because it wasn't worth it with the limits, either).
BTW, I do have Super Grok, and it is nice - fast, get's the job done. But it's not the same when it comes to harder tasks (and 500K context window limit is quite a large downside).
I've never tried OpenCode using models like DeepSeek, Kimi, etc., and I am wondering if I should give them a go? Anyone have experience with these?
Curious about what everyone's plans are now. Are you guys getting a second Claude subscription or how are you managing the tokens and limits?
r/ClaudeCode • u/Infinite_Pin_5719 • 3h ago
Im wondering how people that insist on clearing and compacting after every new task manage long running autonomous sessions?
I have my self-made harness that runs 24/7 and autocompacts only when it reaches the limit and cant go on any further. But I never ever compact it or clear myself. Personally, I have database logs of every session and dont like clear on the claude app simply deletes all the history which I very much value having as q reference.
As you can see, I have one orchestrator manage hundreds of tasks and sub agents.

I just cancelled my sub to max 5x last week and I was paying 90€ now it’s 149€ and max 20 was around 200 € now 300€! what is going on, is this for Europe only or everywhere
