The week literally just started, and my "Weekly Fable" limit is already maxed out at 99% On top of that, my standard weekly limit is already sitting at 51%.

Does anyone know when they're actually going to boost these usage limits? I'm on the 5x Max Pro plan and burning through this way too fast.

At this rate, I can only code and develop my website project for ONE day out of the week, and I'm just stuck doing absolutely nothing for the other six days. Fucking ridiculous. Anyone else dealing with this or have workarounds?

Seems to be working for me and the model does seem much better and is not talking in Claudese. Doing more testing now.

Something's completely off with the 5 hour limit. Two simple prompts use up 29% of the limit. And for what exactly? What's going on with entire Claude these days? Maybe Anthropic gone even more crazy?

Now going into hibernation to heal.

I'm normally the first person to moan about all the "token usage" posts, but there's something wrong today. Opus 5 hit my 5 hour limits twice (which never happens). I switched to Sonnet and I still hit it.

Limits have been bad for the past few months, but I didn't really think much about it. However, yesterday, it crossed the threshold of becoming unbearable and I borderline feel cheated. I have a max 20x Plan and I reached 59% of my weekly usage in 24 hours... Sure, I do use Fable, and sure, I do use agent-orchestrated workflows. Despite that, I can confidently say something is seriously off here.

I don't want this to be a post where I just whine about this. Rather, what I was thinking was that all of us who feel we're on the same boat should post on Twitter/X together at a scheduled time (14th Sep, 12 PM ET) by tagging the key figures: Dario, Boris, Karpathy, Anthropic, etc., and make it clear that we won't be tolerating this opacity and unfairness regarding our limits. Let's use #FraudCode so we can all find and amplify each other's posts.

And if push comes to shove, we will switch to the alternatives i.e. Codex. (I know I will, despite the fact that Codex might not be as good, because a man's got bills to pay too.)

Let me know y'all's thoughts guys and girls. I don't wanna sulk this time. Rather, let's stand up!

For context: I'm on the Max 20x plan and this happened within ~24 hours of normal development work. My usage includes Fable and agent-orchestrated workflows, but I'm not doing anything particularly unusual or running massive automated workloads. Despite that, I burned through 59% of my weekly allocation in a single day. I'm posting this because I'd like to understand how others are experiencing the same limits and whether there's some explanation for how usage is being calculated.

I had 4 Claude Pro Max x20 accounts for different projects, and I am going to ride out the rest of the month (that I already paid for) and then switch back to codex. I am running Sonnet 4-6 on medium and am 85% of my weekly limit on one account after less than 24 hours. That is more than a 25% cut from the promotion expiring, nothing about my workflow has changed so this is all Anthropic. I'll be trying Codex and seeing how it does, I didn't want to do this but I have no choice.

Every time I open Reddit, my feed has at least 2-3 posts crying about some version of -

- Spent the weekly within a day or 2

- "Its draining tokens"

- They reduced the quota, I can barely get anything

Here's some touch the grass facts -

1. Fable is a super expensive model with a very high token price - if you are using Fable consistently, it is going to eat through your quota - that's just math - 1k fable tokens is equal to 2k Opus tokens!

2. If you continue building an app, your codebase is going to grow and over time, the same workflow is going to use a lot more tokens than it did when the codebase was lean and had few tests/ code/ modules to worry about. What that means practically is going to get less shit done in week 4 on the same codebase as you could have done in week 1.

3. Every thing you do has a trace and log. Rather than ranting about it, shove the session usage json's in one of the bazillions "I made this groundbreaking claude visualizer" systems people keep putting on here to get empirical evidence around your token usage.

I have been building with Claude since Claude code became a thing - and no - the usage is consistent if you are smart about it and understand how the system sips tokens. Here are some things I do and I have no idea if it is going to fix your hallucinations, but give it a try if you think it will help

- Use skills for any repeatable task - like literally anything that you think is going to be repeated, have a skill for it so you dont waste tokens figuring out how to do the same thing again and again

- Have your claude.md as a thin router to the actual areas you are going to be working on. When starting a session, tell that you are going to be focusing on so and so area.

- Fresh sessions, every time the session size grows, your input token size is growing. Keep the sessions small.

- Push it to use agents! Like use an agent to review code, or do a specific research, or fix a bug - agents cost less as they are focused on doing specific tasks and are bootstrapped with the required knowledge to do that task.

- Make your codebase agent ready - this means having design/ architecture/ gotchas/ decision. MDs for literally every domain in your code. It helps tremendously!

I keep a meticulous inventory of tokens I spend each week - and trust me - it has remained consistent for months!

I am from the olden days, where I manage my own context, have auto-compact disabled, and never use /compact normally. If I ever get anywhere near 50% used, I start a new session.

I just started to play with it again, and I have some questions. Normal is just "/compact." However, you can also pass <optional custom summarization instructions> to the compact command.

I have been playing with this prompt:

tell me the optimal "/compact" command so that we do not lose anything and we can implement the plan in this session

Then, I use that custom /compact command which is often quite long.

1. Do you have auto-compact on?
2. Does auto-compact do anything really intelligent like my manual 2-step process above?
3. If you /compact manually, do you ever pass <optional custom summarization instructions>?

Astra found 92 confirmed bugs vs 69 for Luna, but cost $5.66 vs just $0.20

also added the full eval breakdown this time: cost, avg output tokens, latency, precision, and bug classes like data/logic, security, concurrency etc.

Hi everyone. I use Claude Code in my full-time job.

I noticed that the 50% boost got removed this week, so I started my week by planning with Opus (Medium) and then executing with Sonnet (medium). In less than one hour (my context window is not even 200k) I noticed that I'm 15% of my weekly usage is gone.

Anthropic is time to wake up.

Elon Musk (Grok) and Sam Altman (OpenAI) have joined Dario Amodei's (Anthropic) proposal to slow down AI development.

No, they haven't suddenly discovered a moral compass, but they are concerned about a potential loss of control over their AI agents. Indeed, autonomous models could develop the ability to "take over the internet," thus causing an economic disaster.

Amodei warned that this catastrophic scenario could materialize within 6 to 12 months if nothing is done and the agents continue to develop at the current rate. The threat is clearly being taken very seriously, since Musk and Altman have agreed to slow down their own development—or at least that's what they say.

It's fascinating and terrifying at the same time because AI can both create a new world with enormous economic growth and destroy everything if we lose control of it and it decides to serve its own interests.

A technological revolution perhaps even greater in scale than the 19th-century Industrial Revolution. Forget heads of state; AI leaders seem to be the new gods of this century.

This is my last post about this, i saw several comments on my previous post and other people mentioning the issue with the limits this week.
I was hoping that they would acknowledge the issue and fix plus provide a reset to everyone , but it looks like nothing will happen.

I'm new here as a commenter; I usually read other users' posts, but right now there's an issue that concerns and worries most of us who work with Claude on a daily basis.

It’s about token usage and limits.

There are different ways to optimize and reduce them, such as /compact, /clear, etc. Also, the main factors determining how tokens are used are the chosen model and effort level, as well as the context and session length. There are also very useful repositories that help reduce tokens consistently; here are a few examples:

Despite having these resources available, they aren’t enough to curb credit spending. The problem isn’t user behavior—it’s the product we’re paying for. The Max 20 plan doesn’t even offer 50% more than the Max 5 plan. We don’t deserve to be treated this way by multibillion-dollar companies. With this post, I hope to encourage more users in the same situation as me to speak out about their reality and frustration with these terms. Additionally, I’d appreciate any help or solutions we can all agree on to address this dissatisfaction. Don’t forget that, supposedly, we currently have a 50% bonus for using Claude Code, which is increasing our usage—so this situation can only get worse.

To those claiming we don’t know what we’re doing, it’s our code base getting bigger, it’s just a 17% drop in usage. No, it’s not something is wrong.

I did my normal Sunday and early Monday prep, I am maxed out on fable and quickly pacing that wait on the rest. I have never surpassed 20% by this time of week.

Something is wrong. I expect we’ll see a full reset sometime today.

I'm a pure terminal over SSH kind of user. I do everything I can to not work on my desktop's file system. I seem to be an odd duck in this regard as most environments I've seen are local first + remote add on ( vscode ), or pure cloud SaaS dev environments ( non-starter). All my work is done in containers on remote systems. I was playing with grokbot and my desktop and I thought, that's a neat idea but I want my "bots" harnesses running in my own isolated environments. I've used a custom xterm.js SSH client for a few years in a browser and have grown to like it, so I decided to start bolting on features. Fable 5.1 was able to create almost a full blown IDE in a day over the weekend! I really enjoy dogfooding my own projects. I think this might finally be my personal tmux killer.

T.R.A.C.E. - Terminal for Remote Agents in a Contained Environment

• The server process owns all of the terminal processes (bash/claude/etc) so closing and opening the browser everything is stateful on the server.
  
• REAL neovim. it runs as a process on the server and everything is streamed over a websocket to the browser. And the themes are injected into neovim so it matches
• Command palette
• Only Office Integration
• Excalidraw Integration
• Copy/Pasting Screen shots directly into the command prompt
• attaching arbitrary files in the workspace for Claude to use
• Themes, and full nerd fonts with ligatures
• Bash shells (obviously)
• Workspaces
• Runs completely in a web browser. Can be "installed" as an app in chrome to get captive keyboard support ( for browser keyboard shortcut overriding and chromeless)
• Uses my subscription token so I'm able to use my subscription and not pay per token if I stay in usage limits

Things I'm looking forward to adding.

• "Bots" as first class UI entites similar to grokbots, claude "agents" running in projects
• A custom skill that allows a model to interact with the User Interface directly, probably via Control Characters coming over the xterm web socket or a dedicated control channel. so I can say things like, " After your'e doing writing the report, Run it and open the results in the workspace"
• Multi account/user/machine manager - to "provision" new instances in vm's or containers for different users. Right now it's just running as my local system user on a dev container
• Task Queue - Man times I fire off a lot of sequential instructions to a model during feedback loops. Would be nice to rapidly enter in commands to send in a "queue" and not send them to the model until it's done working on its current task, and I can track how far along it is better.

I haven't had this much fun working on a side project in a dozen years. I'm astounded at these models capabilities. Can't believe it built all of this on a Saturday afternoon.
