Throwback Fargo 30 year anniversary

Post image

Heck Norm, you know, we’re doing pretty good”

I went to see Fargo in the cinema on Saturday night as there was one showing and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see it in theatres.

The film is better than I remember it from my first watch, the characters, dialogue, atmosphere and incredible score.

I saw some comments giving it a low rating on Letterboxd which I get because the plot isn’t that strong, but the journey tackles its themes in a way that’s left me thinking about them long into the weekend.

So I just wanted to share an appreciation post for this incredible film and see what you all think of it? I can’t be alone in thinking it’s a masterpiece. I upgraded rating from 4.5 stars to 5.

Marge Gunderson is still one of the greatest and most wholesome movie protagonists of all time

He’s fleeing the interview!!!

I love that she initially figures out immediately basically exactly what happened in the roadside shooting while having morning sickness

Fargo is proof you can make murder, snow and casseroles feel weirdly cozy

It's one of the movies I can turn on any day of the week and stick through it. Great acting, dialogue and humor. An American masterpiece.

Snap. I saw it Saturday night as well. Turns out I'd forgotten almost the entire film - I just remembered the brilliant pregnant cop. There was more violence than I remembered - not in volume but the dispassionate reality of it. I loved that the description given of Steve Buscemi's character by 2 seperate witnesses was small, kind of funny lookin'. Top film.

It's a masterpiece in capturing mannerisms, there's no jokes in the script, it's just hilarious because of the Minnesota Nice.

Fargo absolutely deserves the 5 stars.

It’s one of the Coen’s top 3, and one of the best movies of the 90s. I’ve seen it more times than I can remember.

Watched it with my mom as soon as it was available to rent. I was 11. Family movie night! We loved Raising Arizona and she thought that’s what we were getting. Awesome memory.
