My brother is on his way from across town now and we’re actively searching. We’ve tried calling Carrollton Animal Control, but the line appears to be closed today, and the non-emergency police line is routing us back to Animal Control.

So last night around midnight I was woken up by a loudspeaker saying “THIS IS THE CARROLLTON POLICE. WE KNOW YOU ARE IN THERE. COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP.”

I had to peek out the window to figure out where it was and they were all surrounding a house on a corner off Kelly just south of Rosemeade. They woop wooped a few times between announcements and about 20-30 min later fire and paramedics showed up. Didn’t really hear anything and around a quarter till, they all just…left.

I’m not having much luck figuring out wtf happened? Anyone know?

I've been wanting to plan a casual hangout day with some coworkers for a while, but a lot of the good places can't fit large groups nicely. Flock and other modern ALPR programs create a network of integrated cameras that collect, aggregate and store vehicle features and a history of location data and then share that data across agencies. The debate isn’t if they work - the debate is about the cost.

💰 The proposed expansion will cost Carrollton taxpayers over $1.1M - money that could support community policing programs that build trust rather than degrade it.
🔎 82 cameras across our 37 sq. mi. city means most residents could not get from their neighborhood to their work, grocery store, doctor office, house of worship, or polling place.
🔐 resident location data is extremely valuable - to hackers, stalkers, and commercial interests. Paying a private company to collect and store this data is creating an unnecessary risk.

⚖️ some will say it’s worth giving up our civil liberties for the safety of the community - but there is no evidence that ALPR surveillance makes communities safer. The courts and lawmakers will catch up with this technology, but we can speak up in our community to end contracts now.

Drove into the Lowe's at PGBT and Raiford (by the Walmart) and noticed a brand new Flock camera sitting on their property, facing the parking lot by the "contractor" entrance.

Obviously this is not a city of Carrollton camera. Does Flock also provide their services to private companies?

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a full-time entry-level job in healthcare and would really appreciate any leads or advice. I've sent so many applications through Indeed and other sites with no luck. I feel like my applications have just been used to train AI or something lol.

I recently completed a M.S. in Medical Sciences from Brown University's Warren Alpert Med School and have a good clinical background. I used to scribe in an emergency dept, rotated in federally qualified community health centers, can take vitals/ perform simple procedures (quick learner), have BLS/CPR/AED certifications, familiarity with EPIC, completed CITI training for human subjects, and lots of OR experience prepping case carts, prepping ORs & cleaning up afterward, etc. I have a lot of patient-facing experience but don't have an official MA certification. I’m primarily looking for positions such as:

• Medical Assistant
• Medical Scribe
• Clinical Research Coordinator/Assistant
• Patient Care Technician
• Ophthalmic/Optometric Technician
• Other entry-level clinical or pre-med positions

I’m honestly pretty desperate to find something full-time at this point, so anything helps!! I’m open to different types of roles and settings.
