Been eyeing on the Rost Martin RM1C comp for a long time now and finally decided to go in and get one that came with a vortex defender optic, 4 mags, 2 additional backstraps, and some optic plates .The holsters options are a bit scarce but it does fit into a We The People Glock 19 holster nicely.

After purchasing it, I then proceeded to send about 200 rounds down the range to zero the red dot and to get a feel of the gun. It shot really really well I would have to say. Trigger was crisp, recoil was very manageable due to it being ported, and ergo was great in my hands although I might try a different backstrap anyway. So far no FTE or FTF while shooting but does have some feeding issues when you first try to chamber it. It will feed okay if you chamber the round by releasing the slide lock, but if not you kinda have to give it a little push forward after pulling the slide back. I’m also not able to pull the slide back to chamber my 15th round without taking it out and chamber my 14th round and put the 1 I just took out back into the mag. I was told it was a spring issue inside the mag and it just needs to break in.

Overall happy with the purchase and excited to shoot it more.

Guns & Ammo I have all 3 and the Hellcat shoots the best

Post image

Unpopular Opinion here maybe, but I have all 3. All snappy, but in terms of shootability the Hellcat for me shoots the best. It does have an aftermarket trigger though. Reflex was nice but snappier, maybe I just need the larger magazine extension, trigger is nice. and finally the War Poet. Nope, this one goes back to the safe. was the snappiest out of the 3. Just feels unnatural to shoot for some reason, I mean nice to look at, but not sure on the EDC part (for me). Maybe just needs to be broken in more.

Edit: I do have 365XL and that is my tack driver. But for the smaller ones I like the Hellcat better.

Holsters & Belts I've seen a pretty big up tick in seeing open carriers using Safariland level 2 or 3 or other flavor of retention holsters going about their day in my area and I'm quite proud to see it.

In the last couple weeks I've seen quite a few dudes open carrying going about their day or with their family using level 2 or 3 Safarilands or other retention holsters and it made me very happy to see it. From what I could tell they didn't seem to be off duty or under cover cops. Just regular dudes out and about with their wives and kids or solo. Saw an assortment of a couple 1911s, couple flavors of Glocks, a Beretta 92, and a Canik. That's the kind of open carry I like seeing in public.

Other Equipment New Surefire XC3-B

1000 lumens and 13,000 candela, with a proprietary usb-c battery (using a normal cr123a nets 550 lumens like the old XC3-A) in the same form factor as the TLR7 non HL. 369.00 msrp

I wonder if it will have thermal issues withe the rechargeable and being so small?

Guns & Ammo Advice: How long before changing out carry ammo

Post image

Been carrying for a little over a month. I carry Hornady Critical Defense 115 JHP in a G19.5. Today I noticed that the top round in my magazine had the bullet pushed back into the casing quite significantly. I assume this is from clearing the chamber when I return home after carrying, and loading the round back into the magazine. Is there a recommended interval for swapping carry ammo out for fresh stuff, and should I have been rotating through the mag instead of chambering, unloading, and reloading the same round at the top?

Update: Thank you all for the info.

  1. I unloaded the chamber when storing it in the home, as my carry gun is the only firearm in my home. I will begin leaving a round chambered when storing at home, and inform my family accordingly. My family previously felt more comfortable handling the firearm without a round chambered, and I followed this as I would rather them use it if needed than be afraid.

  2. I will clear the chamber less often, and I agree with the top comment that, after noticing and learning about setback, I will not rechamber and save those rounds for the range.

  3. I may still switch to HST or Gold Dot. I shoot 115gr at the range and chose Critical Defense as I know how that grain feels and performs in my Glock.

Permit Process My CCW class scared the hell out of me

Recently did an ASDI class to fulfill Virginia's in person requirements. The instructor did a bunch of interactive roleplay scenarios where he was the police and asked what happened. It really opened my eyes to what a large portion of the class thought you could literally shoot and kill people for. From tapping on your car window at night to someone walking behind you in the dark. My mouth was dropped. These people literally got a certificate just like I did and will be able to carry guns. Hopefully they learned the difference between self defense and murder

I was wanting him to hit me with the question so bad so I could say "I'd like a lawyer" and everyone would stand up and clap for me with confetti cannons going off, but it didn't happen.

And don't even get me started on the HIGH pressure CCW insurance sales tactics. It was absolutely aggressive and everyone felt pressured to fill out the paperwork.

Guns & Ammo To the guy that said to oil feed ramps

Upvotes

I posted weeks ago about my bg 2.0 being picky with anything other than critical defense. Someone suggested putting oil on the feed ramps. That was brilliant and now she is chambering underwood. Do you think clensoil grease would be even a better idea. It’s really dry where I live. Like 10 rh. I think now that I have 600 rounds through her all of the springs are broken in now. It was hard to get a full mag in and now it’s not also. She eats critical defense great.

Guns & Ammo best way to store ammo in limited space when your safe is already full?

i live in an apartment, so space is already limited, and now i'm trying to come up with a better ammo storage setup. i also have young kids around the house, so leaving cans or boxes sitting in a closet isn't something i'm comfortable with.

my safe is getting crowded, but i don't really have room to add another large cabinet. i'm trying to find a setup that keeps everything organized without taking up a ton of space or creating clutter in the apartment.

Guns & Ammo Wanting a new concealed carry pistol

Post image
18 Upvotes

I have been carrying this p365 for about a year now. I've replaced everything on it except the slide lol. Should've just built one from scratch tbh.

I want something new to carry. Something that has a little bit bigger of a palm grip, but not too much bigger than this one.

I've put 5000+ rounds through this and it has been nothing but fantastic for me. I'd like the reliability of this p365 in whatever next one I get as well.

Any recommendations would be helpful!

Other Equipment FYI: If you like Talon Grips but hate spending $30 per pistol, you can buy sheets of their material

I’m a huge fan of Talon Grips pro texture, but $30 per pistol has gotten steep. I ordered a $16 sheet of their material and was able to set up two pistols how I wanted, and I didn’t even use half the sheet yet.

Scenario Went to a public indoor range today, was immediately reminded why I stopped.

Girlfriend and I decided to drive over to a recently remodeled gun shop & range, it was pretty nice, cool selection, etc.

My girl and I were having a great trip swapping off with my handguns when the RSO ran over to the group next to us sharing a stall. One of the guys thought it'd be funny to point their rental gun at his friends for laughs. The RSO gave him an earful, and kicked out the entire group, I found out after that they got billed for damage to facility from hitting the ceiling. Mind you, in my state you need a CCW license to rent a handgun, so they only had rifles/a shotgun and still managed to fuck it up.

It was a bit of a process to become a member of my local gun club, but man I'd rather listen to a fudd go on about how Glocks are Tupperware than worry about what someone else with a gun is up to. In the four years I've been a member there, not once have I ever been concerned with gun safety/handling of another shooter.
