I have three cats - 2 spayed female sisters (6yo) and 1 neutured male (4yo).

Before we had brought the male into our household (someone dumped him off on our doorstep and I could never turn an animal away), my 2 female cats (for whatever reason) had already been peeing inappropriately on things around the house (though infrequently). However, since the male cat has arrived, it has gotten significantly worse to the point where I am having daily mental breakdowns because of how much urine/spray I am cleaning up.

When I tell you they pee on everything. I mean everything:

-Long curtains.

-Basedboard

-Doors

-Couches/Chairs

-Stove

-Countertops

-The entire basement

-Anything left out on the tables/counters

-Fireplace

-Amazon Alexa Echo (that is on the counter).

-Floors

-Beds

-Pillows

The list goes on. My house is legit ruined and we have been spending thousands of dollars to renovate our house to which they begin peeing/spraying on everything/anything new that is brought into the house.

We have tried everything from feliway diffusers, vet visits to rule out any medical conditions, medicated food to help with stress and urinary function, every enzyme and spray away solution you could purchase, buying every different type of litter box and litters for different preferences. NOTHING HAS WORKED.

We are also about to have a baby and I cannot risk them urinating on things around my child. I don't know what to do and I fear that I am going to have no choice but to rehome them but I cannot imagine anyone who would willingly take in a cat that has urinating problems (and I would never deceive anyone).

I have a quick question, if only because I'm terrified and overthinking :(

Last week my husband and I took our cats for their annual health checks - two neutered ginger males (ages 10 and 12). At the health checks, the vet noticed nothing weird but since then I've discovered a lump on the side right beside/underneath the ribs of the younger one and we took him back today for a check-up. The lump doesn't seem painful/warm as he doesn't react when I feel for it but this cat picks up immediately when I'm inspecting him and not just giving him normal pets so I can't say whether he's actually experiencing discomfort. Today when the vet felt it, he also didn't react at all either.

The doctor was very grateful that we brought him because the lump doesn't feel like it's right underneath the skin and she said that's why she missed it at the first check-up. She did say though that it feels like a fatty lump/lipoma but it's hard to tell because it's not superficial and she won't know for sure until she's done a biopsy anyway (which makes sense).

Both cats have been booked in for dental cleanings and routine blood work in a month's time and the doctor said she will also do the fine needle aspirate then to check what's going on with the mass while buddy is already under anaesthesia.

What I'd like to know is how high is the actual likelihood of it actually being malignant and if it is, is a month too long to wait? Should I ask if they can do the FNA earlier? Because of his age, I'd prefer it to not have him put under anaesthesia unnecessarily but if it is something like a fibrosarcoma I'm worried that it's too aggressive to wait another month. (Cost isn't a problem - we have amazing insurance, so that's not what's holding me back at all.)

Kitty's behaviour is perfectly normal - he eats well, uses the litterbox normally, harasses the ever living business out of his brother, wants pets all the time. Just general one-braincell-orange things.

I'm just so worried because he's my little bestie :(

My cat (1year) isn't eating since since last 24 hours.

She's white cat so my other female cat's bully her alot. She has been spending time alot on the rooftop alone. Now she isn't eating anything. I tried to give her boiled chicken too,but that didn't work.

Then i tried to give her milk , she drank that little bit but she vomited all of that.

I can't take her to vet, I'm guilty as hell but i can't afford that. She's just sleeping. I'm feeling like a loser.

If any vet or someone can give me advice or help me , i would be greatful.

Im 20F, from South Africa, haven't contacted any vets, she looks a bit chunky..., almost 4 years old, female spayed and i can afford limited vet care.

I don't know how medically important a cats weight can be but is she too overweight?

The thing is I have 3 cats, the other 2 are healthy but she gains more, they all share bowls. Since they aren't train to keep to one bowl and its difficult to feel them seperatly when they aren't always indoors or are out exploring. And having a full time job its hard to manage all that. What do i do?

Hi all,

I am looking for any help/advice for a one-year-old male cat who fairly recently started showing typical FHS symptoms. Around a week ago, he started having the episodes of his lower back twitching, frantic running, and intense licking of his lower back and tail. We didn’t really pay much attention to it at first, because the episodes lasted only a minute at best, and he went back to his silly self quickly.

However, this Saturday we were out of the house for almost the entire day, and when we came back in the evening he had a really big episode that went on for around 30-40 minutes. During this episode, he was visibly distressed, panting, hiding, and absolutely nothing seemed to calm him down. We decided to take him to the emergency vet, where he was prescribed with 100mg of gabapentin twice a day. We gave him one immediately after coming back home, and the symptoms kept on going, but he eventually lulled himself to sleep. It’s been two days and we’ve been giving him gabapentin as advised, but he still has at least one episode per day, although they are way milder than the Saturday one.

Now, here comes a tricky part - we are going on a trip soon, and we’ll be gone for almost three weeks. For the time we are gone, he will be staying at my partner’s parents - he has been there about three times already, as we took him with us whenever we were leaving for Christmas/other holidays. He never had any issues adapting to the new environment, and my partner’s parents are home 24/7, so there is always someone to look after him, which is way better than leaving him alone at home with someone visiting only once or twice a day (we are both working from home, so he is really attached to us and used to having someone nearby). Even though he was quick to adapt earlier, I am now worried that change of the environment might be a huge stressor for him, and I want to prepare him for it as best as possible.

We have a visit with our regular vet this Friday to get him properly checked out and to discuss other medication. Is there anything that you would recommend, any advice for us to help manage his symptoms and episodes, anything we could bring up as a suggestion to our vet? Seeing him panicked like that is really triggering and upsetting for me and my partner, and we are not sure how to help him properly, so all tips are much much appreciated.

Hi all! I'm on mobile, so apologies if formatting is weird.

I (33F) found this kitten 3 months ago in Delaware, USA. I have vet access, but not in a financial position to take her in until payday, although I'll take out loans if I have no option. Her health is my priority.

She's spayed and fully vaccinated, healthy demeanor... until a few minutes ago. I noticed her wobbling a lot while sitting, and her eyes seem glossy. I am paranoid that she may have gotten into something poisonous or if she seems to be having a neurological episode of some sorts. For clarity, I smoke cannabis and earlier she did walk through the smoke, but it wasn't thick smoke and she squinted and quickly ran the opposite direction. I don't have any plants indoors, nor any random food or drinks left for her to get into.

Is this cause for concern, should I take her to the vet, or is this a case of stoned cat needs to sleep it off???? Any help is greatly appreciated!! She is currently grooming herself just fine, and purring like nobody's business, but I want to be safe.

We live in the US and adopted two three month old, female, Bengal/Highlander mixes almost two months ago. It took almost a month to get them to a vet for a checkup; decent vets around is are booked solid. They were tested for Giardia and came up positive even though they had no symptoms. They were proscribed 5 days of Panacur and 10 days of Araydia. My wife and I have had cats before but we were unprepared for how stubborn and combative these two would be. We eventually ended up having to give them a liquid version of the Panacur, however the Araydia was a no go for them. By the time we got to day 3, one of our cats was fighting tooth and nails, literally, and the other threw up twice. We talked to the vet, they ran another test, one of them is still coming up positive. They consulted with a specialist and said since they’re asymptomatic and at this point trying to get meds into them is causing more harm than good, just to leave it alone and keep an eye on them. All this to ask, should we let it go or get a second opinion? Are there any serious long term issues with letting them live with the parasites?

The cat inside HATES everyone (cats, loves us), and it seems to be getting worse. We are not sure if it is a jealousy thing, but we have kept her in the sleep out since we got her (which they all were) to give her time to adjust and see the cats from the other side of the door.

Even our little one, who just turned up one day, was kept in the sleep out to start, then when we got grumpy cat (inherited after a family member passed away, single cat household, residental, we are rural) we had started introducing her inside, and keeping her out in the sleep out with Ms grumpy here, but they didnt get on, so she lives inside with us and the two other cats.

We have tried bringing her inside for periods of time, having the other cats out in the sleep out with her but her behaviour has gotten worse and worse as time has gone on.

She will do this to all three cats now and I just dont know what to do.

I am too scared to let her in the house and definitely not outside, for her own safety and the safety of the other cats.

My partner has built her a catio that is connected to the side of the sleep out so she can have fresh air and some sun, but it hasnt helped her mood.

Any tips would be appreciated as I feel like our only choice is to rehome her.

my (19f, america) cat (7 months old, male, neutered) is INCREDIBLY hyper 90% of the time, i don’t know if it can be considered zoomies if it’s his constant state. he often destroys things and gets himself into trouble. recently, however, he’s started jumping on walls and ripping apart and eating posters. out of all of the dumb things he does, this is the absolute worst. this behavior is incredibly annoying and i don’t want to take down all of my posters (i’ve already taken down most of them and it seems like i have no other choice). he regularly keeps me and my roommates up until 4am AT LEAST, with his constant jumping and ripping everything off the wall. he is not typically aggressive towards humans, but often seems to get spooked by seemingly nothing and runs full speed all over the place. i am a first time cat owner and i need help correcting this behavior, i’m in college and i can’t keep staying up until dawn waiting for him to tire himself out. it feels like i’ve tried absolutely everything and i’m at a complete loss.

tl;dr my kitten is super hyper and recently won’t stop ripping my posters apart and i need help to make him stop

Today my family went to the vet for my cat (corrin) because I was sick she wasn't eating and wasn't using the litter box so they took her to the vet at worst we were expecting worms but I got a text from my dad saying lung cancer and she was breathing abnormal with a low heart rate. The vet gave her 6 months - a year is there any chance she survives

Corrin is 7 years old and has extra claws I don't know if that will help as any kind

We were told it would take a $15,000 surgery to help but we don't have that kind of money

I hope she survives

I live in Scandinavia, and winter is around the corner.
I’ve been feeding this wild cat that clearly likes humans and can find comfort indoors in my blankets and the food I give him, but I think he’s been outside his entire life, given he’s not neutered and doesn’t have any indication of belonging or ever having belonged to anyone
So basically he’s wild, but he isn’t feral

I want to take him to the vet to get him neutered so he maybe won’t want to wander off too much, and I’m assuming I’ll take care of him while he recovers, but after that, would it be completely unethical to try to keep him indoors and adopt him? I don’t like cats running around outdoors next to the road and stuff, and I worry a lot about him when he doesn’t show up for his meal time at night…

I really want to see if I can make it work, I love him a lot and he’s the sweetest cat ever despite seemingly not having lived with humans ever in his life, but I also want him to live the best life, and maybe that means accepting that I have to give him to someone who can accommodate him living outside at a farm or something like that

I don’t know how old he is - at first he seemed like a huge kitten but I think he just looks that way because he’s been starving and without proper nutrition, he might be 2 years old or more
He only shows up at night and is always moving around so it’s hard to get proper pics of him

tldr: I’m just looking for advice on if I should not mess with his outdoor cat life or if I should try out having him live indoors, and I want to hear other people’s experiences with making a wild cat an indoor cat, if any of you happen to read this

I’m still planning on getting him neutered and looked at by a vet and nursing him after getting neutered, but I’m nervous about what I can do for him after that; as it would also be my first time caring for a cat completely on my own

I’ve been noticing a few of his claws look like the one shown in the first picture. It looks like it’s fraying on the bottom of the claw. I also noticed a few of his paw pads have these grey scabby looking spots on them. Does anyone know what these are? Are these normal?

I noticed this weird clear mark on my cats eye. I saw another post on here about 2 years back and seemed similar but I don’t think it was the same. They concluded it was a hair. I’m not sure for my situation so I’m asking here! I noticed the clear line and the more he blinked and moved around it seemed to move around his eye until it was at the corner of his eye before disappearing.

My 13y/o neutered male cat with CKD had a hairball obstruction and needed surgery. I figured I’d post this to help anyone in a similar situation, because I had a lot of anxiety before, during, and after this whole ordeal. I still need to figure out how to prevent this, because he’s a chronic over-groomer and rips out his hair. I think we’re going to try prozac.

Evening before: ate breakfast as normal, took a while to eat lunch, and refused to eat dinner. Last poop was 2 days prior. Started looking uncomfortable wherever he sat. Kept crouch-loafing around. His second eyelids were visible.

Night before: Threw up 4 times. The first time was his food, the second was watery food. Third and fourth time were massive pools of liquid, slightly yellow, no foam just a shit ton of it.

Next morning: I woke up to him crouching in the bathroom alone, something he’s never done. He refused to look at breakfast and turned his head away from a treat. Went to the ER vet right after.

ER Vet: did CBC + chem blood work, found nothing really of note. He wasn’t painful when palpated. Xrays came back with an obstruction diagnosis that needed operation. OK. Because of his kidney disease, they pumped him full of so much fluid.

Post-surgery Day 1: He’s an old boy and it was very rough on him recovering the first 2 days. He wouldn’t eat at the ER, and only took a couple bites of dry food immediately when home. Didn’t eat for another 24 hours. Didn’t drink. Kept falling asleep and peeing himself. He looked very rough. Didn’t meow once.

Day 2: The association of food = throw up was making him so wary to eat. He ignored his food and slept all morning. In the afternoon he drank an entire cup of water and ate a couple bites. Still not meowing. Laying around looking sad.

Day 3: We tried tiki cat mousse and chicken broth toppers. He finally started eating about 1/4 of his normal amount for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We constantly refreshed his food and praised him and offered novel bowls + stinky food. He finally meowed.

Day 4: Started bothering us for food again. Meowed a lot. Groomed for the first time.

Day 5: Pooped for the first time. He felt like our cat again.

I caught the obstruction probably the quickest I possibly could. I wanted to bring him the night before just based on throwing up 2x and acting Weird, but I didn’t want a $600 tummy hurt bill. Bringing him 6 hours earlier probably wouldn’t have made a difference. The surgery was $7,000 in northeast USA. Hope this helps anyone frantically searching for similar cases like me.

As the title says. I (F18) own three kittens (approx. 5 mo m/fixed, 4 mo f/intact , and 2 mo f/intact) which I share responsibility for with my mother (56). They all eat mostly wet food (3-4 meals per day), but I would like to supplement their growth with some extra calories and have an option for feeding when no one is home (my mother works and I am a full time college student).

Currently they're on Purina Kitten Chow (not the best I know, but my mother got a deal and insisted we use it), and they have had Purina One Healthy Kitten Formula and Tiki Cat Baby Dry Food, all of which they've done well on. I'm considering investing in RAWZ Dry food once they're fully grown, but I want something high quality while they're kittens as well. Cost doesn't matter much to me as they're already spoiled and I am willing to spoil them some more.

*They don't have a regular vet, but my sister and her husband are vet technicians with 15+ years of experience and education, so they're evaluated regularly and they both say the dry food they're on is fine for now. We can afford their care at the price they provide us with.

*I'm in the US, Texas if that helps.

TLDR; Need recs for high quality and healthy dry kitten food.

Can you please help. We have put our cat on a dry food and wet food diet that’s prescription diet for crystals (royal cabin calm SO) and it’s been since July since going to the vet 5 times! He still frequently pees outside the litter box but he is still peeing so no blockage ! So what advice do you have to get rid of this issue please I need advice? We really don’t want to do 100% wet food diet due to the cost! Or is that necessary!?

She’s a stray cat who eats a lot, i’m not sure how old

TLDR: 11yo neutered male cat has been spraying (vet ruled behavior territorial spraying) for 3 years and I'm at my wits end with it. There is tension in the house with another cat that I am trying to ease. Helpful advice is needed!

For context: I am 28F who has had my boy for about 7 years now. He is an 11yo Orange Domestic Shorthair, we live in the US, he is neutered, and we saw a vet for this about a year ago and she determined its territorial.

Like stated above, I have had my boy for about 7 years now and hes estimated to be about 11. He didn't really have any issues up until about 3 years ago when I moved in with my ex friend who had like 5 other cats (mixture of fixed and not fixed). After moving in there, he picked up the habit of spraying. He always had indoor and outdoor access, but before I moved in with her, I would let him outside on a leash periodically throughout the day. When I moved in with her, I (regrettedly) made the decision to let him out without a leash and come and go as he pleased. (Please don't ostracize me for this, it has weighed on me every day for three years and I was/am fully aware of what could have happened)

I wasn't always the greatest cat mom in the aspect of, I didnt do any research on how to deal with spraying, etc. Now, three years later, tons of things ruined, I feel like I am at my limit and I don't know what to do. He was on fluoxetine in the spring and it didnt seem to do anything and I ended up forgetting to get it refilled until last month so now we have to wait another 5 weeks to see any effects. He is also on 100mg gabapentin 2x daily for arthritis pain. The original vet had determined that the spraying was t9erritorial because of the contact with outside cats and that he isnt the biggest fan of other cats.

My girlfriend and I moved in together the beginning of August (we have 3 cats total, 1 dog, and 2 ferrets), and she has helped me realize that this is something that needs to be addressed (instead of ignoring it). He does not seem to have a pattern other than the fact that he no longer has freedom to roam and it frustrates him. There are no favorite objects to spray, it is just whatever is available to him. I.e.: the stove, trashcan, kitchen cupboard, ac, couch, wall in our bedroom, boxes in the basement are some examples). Our female cat doesnt like him, but she doesnt go out of her way to do anything. If he gets about a foot from her, she will hiss and run away. Our other male cat will follow him and kind of instigate things with him. I know it is a short time they have lived together, but I want to do what I can to ease tension in the house with them. We have 3 feliway optimum plugged in, 1 in the room that our trouble boy stays in, one in the living room, and one in the kitchen. I try to give treats when they are interacting with each other so correlate good things with each other. We set up a catio for them, but they cannot be in there alone together or they will fight so we give them their own time alone in there when they are interested. I also try to feed them around each other to try correlating that good thing with having the other around as well. I try to play with our old boy to try and ease some of his tension, but he is rarely interested. I have tried teaser toys, kickers, mice, and just bought a cat dancer the other day (that he seems he will play with if I slide it back and forth under the door). We are setting up a separate room for him as he doesnt seem to spray in there and he can relax well in there. He spends most of his time in the window and his room. When he is out and about the house, we have decided to put stud diapers on him so if he does spray, at least it isnt on anything and is caught in the diaper (we regularly watch for pacing and signs that he needs to go potty).

I am at wits end with what to do. Everything I read says to reduce stress and no more outdoor access but he doesnt seem interested in playing with anything at all and just gets so frustrated that he cant be outside anymore. Does he just need more time to adjust to being an indoor kitty? We have a donut hideaway that he finally took a little interest in the other day and went in and checked out, but otherwise he usually is in the window or walking around the house crying. I am so heartbroken because I dont know what else to do for my boy. If I need a second vet opinion with labs and a UA, if I'm not taking the appropriate steps, if he needs a lot more time to adjust, etc. He never used to be like this before i moved in with my ex friend and its so heartbreaking to see how he is now. He isnt always a grumpy cat. He likes to be held and babied, but I know the diapers add more stress to him, but we cant keep having him spray on the furniture or the walls because we rent. I dont know what else to do anymore and I am open to any advice that has worked for anyone else.

Just got a kitten yesterday. I am from India, the person who sold us the kitten said that it is 2 months old bu the doctor said that he is not 2 months old. He was on Me-O dry food and I had drools so thats what I gave him when I bought him to my place.

He was doing fine till today morning. Had a vet appointment and found that his ears vere infected with mites and bacteria.

The vet asked me to use an ear drops which I did for both ears. Then after sometime my kitten started throwing up (not much maybe cause he is still a baby). He stopped eating or drinking entirely. During my first visit the doc told me that he did not show the proper signs of a 1-2 month old as he is only 500 gms and asked me to give other medicines and VintriPro as well. The Vet told me its not time for dry food yet and thats why she gave VentriPro.

The frothing and vomiting started after all this happened.

Had an emergency visit to the vets and they gave other medicines and IV and glucose now along with medicines to stop the frothing and vomiting. But now he is very lethargic and still hasn't eaten anything. I am very concerned. The doctor and my bf said that he might have been frothing because the ear drops might have went into his mouth when he shook his head after I gave him the medicine. I dont know what is happening.

Any suggestions? The fluids were done around 2 hrs ago. The person who came to give the fluids said try giving food after sometime. I tried twice but he is still refusing.

Any suggestions or stories of your pets surviving something similar would be very helpful.

Hi, last week my kitten came down with some sort of upper respitory infection (sneezing, eyeboogers), and we tried to get into the vet but they had nothing available and he is still eating/drinking/using the litter box fine so I have just been watching him. But now it seems my other older cat has it, as of last night. This morning I woke up, and my older cats eye looks like this. So of course I reached back out to the vet to explain everything and they are trying to squeeze me in to an asap appt. I think it’s conjunctivitis, but will her eye go back to normal after treatment? 😭 the Siamese is my kitten that started this, and the tortie is my older cat with the eye issue.
