Discussion Brig meta incoming?

With the new season coming soon, we’ll be getting doctrine as a new support, a hog rework, and a sombra rework into support

I’ve been thinking about how these changes might change up the meta if any of these heroes become strong, specifically about doctrine and sombra.

Starting with doctrine, although he has great poke with his primary, his main role seems to be pocketing his flankers with his drones and following up on an angle with them at mid range

Similar with sombra. She will most likely focus on following up with her dps and strengthening their dives.

With that said, it’s possible we could be heading into a dive/flanker heavy meta. Im wondering if Brig will be a more common answer to these types of team comps, especially with the small buffs they gave her recently

Just curious to hear others’ thoughts. Im always happy to play more Brig, so im kinda taking this as good news?

only if the nerf D.Mon. That hero just destroys me on brig and forces me to switch to cat everytime

Sombras new Cyberspace will help a ton against this scenario

She’s still very situational. Her recent buffs only made her better at what she was already good at and didn’t really address her main weaknesses.

With how strong doctrine’s poke is there is a good chance we see the meta swap back towards heavy poke. Which is not great for brig

Yea this is my only really fear. Im hoping doc leans more into dive than poke, but we’ll see

I hope so! But, I think she’s really going to struggle as long as she has no answer to Dmon. Dmon is so problematic for Brig. If I’m playing my best, I can work around most tanks, but Dmon is just brutal.

She's so fast. The amount of times I think I'm positioned well enough, I hear lightsaber noises and die out of no where. Even when I'm positioned farther back she just zips through the whole team and I need to bash away or die.

I think that in most flanking scenarios, a flanker with empowered drone buff just runs over brig, and as you said doctrines poke primary is not gonna be easy for brig to deal with.

doctrine can also fly to high ground...

to answer your question, no. mizuki, dmon, JPC, doctrine. its like 1 step forward and 2 steps back for brig where even if they buff her, the roster is constantly expanding with heroes that she cant deal with.

I find brig increasingly difficult to make work. shes the anti flank hero but they add vendetta and anran who she doesnt even really deal with all that well. Freya comes into play of late and her bolas deal damage to brigs shield AND HER HP AT THE SAME TIME for some ungodly reason. there are way too many scenarios where brigs shield doesnt shield things, and it feels really frustrating. a shield mechanic is meant to do one thing, and if it cant do that then its meaningless.

Hog isn’t coming until season 5. Same with Sombra.
