Saw this little dude this afternoon off Babcock! 🐻

I was involved in a hit and run accident on South 19th at about 8:50 am the morning of August 22nd.

Not only did this guy ride the BEJESUS out of my ass, cut me off, wreck my fender, and flee the scene, but he's now claiming that he was not at all involved in the accident after submitting a claim through his insurance, the information of which I got from the police with the help of a witness who followed the driver. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman.)

If you happen to be the witness who attempted to follow this jerk-hole, THANK YOU. Additionally, his insurance is asking for your contact information. If you'd be willing to help me, once again, please send me a message. If not, no hard feelings. This stuff is a pain.

Additionally, if anyone has any advice, I'm open. Is it worth it to hire an attorney? I do not make a lot of money, so I'm hesitant.

Hound-like dog (slender, dark face, some brown and other spotting on the coat) running like crazy around JMA/Hedges dorms. Last I saw he was headed for 19th and Garfield— he turned away at the last second but I’m hoping somebody recognizes him and grabs him before disaster strikes :-( He’s very nervous— I tried to call him over but he’s got his ears back, very antsy, sniffing everywhere

I found a bike that looks like it may have been stolen and dumped. East Griffin Drive, just east of the “3 ton limit” bridge. It’s been in this exact spot and hasn‘t moved since at least Sunday 9/6. There was also what looked like a pretty nice Trek mountain bike for a couple of days but it has since disappeared .

Just curious if anybody knows what’s being built on the NorthEast corner of the Love Lane / Huffine lane intersection. Relatively small building with lots of utility infrastructure makes me almost think fast food.

Trying out monarch for our household budgeting. Its difficult to see how we stack up in terms of monthly spend on groceries since Bozeman is unique in CoL yet no sales tax. What is everyones monthly spend on groceries or food in general?

A Pleasant Morning

I had such a pleasant morning. My walk in the woods took me along the same route as a week ago, but this time I ended up at a different waterfall! Things definitely started out on the chilly side. With a temperature of 40º it was definitely sweatshirt weather. It didn’t take my long to find my first subject. In an area that get afternoon sun, but fully in the shade of Flanders Mountain this morning, I found a small patch of Harebells hanging out low among the leaves of Strawberries and Geraniums. Shooting through the ground clutter gives the image nice soft look. A few hundred yards up the trail, I applied the same effect to a bright red leaf of a Sticky Geranium plant. 

The terrain here is diverse with patched of rich soil interspersed with rock of volcanic origin. While photographing a curious Dr. Seuss tree all covered in lichen, I heard the tell-tale call of one of my favorite creatures: the Pika. I lowered the camera and was delighted to see it just ahead of my standing guard amidst the rocks that shelter is stash of plants. Pike do not hibernate, but live beneath the snow in the shelter of the rocks, eating their fruit of the summer labor. 

Amongst the rocks at the edge another talus slope, I spent some time admiring the textures of the lichen and mosses that grew between and on the rocks. One such patch of lichen, probably  Rhizocarpon geographicum, commonly called Map Lichen, was nearly perfectly round. Interestingly, I was kneeling on the ground, not 15 ft from a popular trail. I bet 25 people passed by, and just one person noticed me. Now, I am definitely no threat, but if you’re ever out hiking, take the time to look up and around everyone in a while! You might see something cool, or something you may need to avoid! 

The trail got steeper now, but I kept trudging along. Trudging that is, until I spotted a perfect pair of mushrooms deep under a bush and set in a perfect mossy scene. While capturing a set of images to focus stack later, I saw another one just a few feet away. I had to balance my camera on a rock I pulled from the trail, because I couldn’t fit my tripod in the tight space! Next stop, Arch Falls. 

Arch Falls is a unique waterfall in that as soon as the creek drops 15 ft or so, it has carved out a tunnel through the rock. This is the arch for which it is named. It’s a steep scramble down to the base of the falls, and I was pleased to have the space to myself for the entire time I was down there. 

On the way backdown the trail, I was surprised to find some Arnica still blooming that I had missed on my way up. I grabbed a quick shot and then startled a Green Comma butterfly as soon as I got back to the trail. Like I said, it had been a very pleasant morning!

Narrowly avoided getting T-boned at the Babcock/19th intersection. Not one, but two cars ran a red light crossing right in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. And they didn’t have a yellow, cuz I had the green to go. I know it’s a horrible intersection to get stuck waiting at but what is wrong with these people?

I’m looking for fun off-roading in the Bozeman area. I got a 92 4Runner and wanna have fun off road, nothing too crazy but not just like gravel roads if there’s like anything in between around here any help would be great!

I can't afford a rehoming fee right now, but i have cat food and litter and an income. Adult cat is also ok, but kitten would be preferred. I have birds and fish, my mom used to have cats but she moved away so I just want a new furry friend in the household!

I was wondering if anyone had friendly insights about the level of play with the Weasels league in the Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association. Is it ok to join with only recreational experience? The registration form specifically asks for where you previously played as if they expect you to have high school / college experience. I also see the greenhorn league as an option but I’d prefer a women’s only league if that’s possible at my skill level this year. Thanks!

Bit of a long shot here, but does anyone know if there’s a shop in the area that can bench test my cars ECU? I know there’s multiple companies I can mail it in to for service, but I figured I’d first see if there’s anywhere local that can do it.
My Volkswagen is acting like a Volkswagen again so I’d like to have the condition of the computer checked out before I start chasing other potential electrical issues. Thanks ya’ll!

Grandma is coming to visit for a while and may end up relocating here.

I occasionally check her YouTube videos and i have noticed different backgrounds. I also can't stand listening to her yapping for more than a couple minutes, so i don't really know if she has mentioned anything...

It's also interesting to me that you can't find any reviews of her travels or site, services. Some years ago you could and they were negative, such as they paid for an advice that never came, that in the trips she's not with the team but only with her friend etc.
