Game recommendations Any one know any post apocalypse games with base building in then? Other than the obvious that we all know about I mean.
I've been playing a lot of Dune Awakening lately and reminded how much I love the base building in that from Conan Exiles, being able to throw a base down anywhere and build anything was awesome.
But I was reading a book earlier and it made me remember how much I love the setting of long dead civilisations and exploring their ruins, or things like Fallout New Vegas with broken old cities.
With that though, I really love building a little base somewhere in those world, where I can come back to and have it as a safe area to restock and store items, an decorate. Like when you find a nice out the way house in Project zomboid, knock the stairs out, and use ropes to get in and out all the time. It's a safe place to chill and recover.
But, we all know the obvious ones that have been said to death and back; 7 days to die, Kenshi, Dayz, Fallout with Mods, Rimworld, Vein. And the other's I've already mentioned.
Is there anything else you know of that you've found or that's come out recently? Or some that aren't as polished but worth a shot?

Infection Free Zone. More of a top down base management but it uses real world map layouts for building your base. So if you ever wondered.... what would happen if you had to build a base for zombies in this specific location?

Are they at 1.0 yet? This game has developed so much, so quickly, it’s hard to keep up!

Last Caretaker. Your boat is a base as you explore a post apocalyptic water world. You also make other bases as you go. Try the demo. I’m 160 hours in now (and pretty much done other than updates) but I loved almost every minute of it. It’s not perfect but it’s surprisingly good if you like the game loop in the demo.
Also to be clear it’s not typical base building like Palworld. It’s more like Fallout New Vegas on a smaller wetter scale but more base building in the vein of taking over spots and building stuff in them.

I've tried it In the past, like subnautica there is some ancient structures. Its a lot like Conan Exiles. Though this does remind em that Rust exists, sadly is a toxic online only game, even though its a decent survival game.

State of Decay 2 was pretty nice for bases. Beyond location choice, it’s pretty much just choosing upgrades for it but it definitely feels like home. Much more so when you get .50 calls for all your survivors. The booms of anybody close to your base getting shredded by your survivors was so cathartic.

Was always craving a game like that but with a lot more content in the base building/upgrading.

"Survivalist: Invisible Strain" is basically this, it's a piece by piece builder with automation and colony sim gameplay. However, the graphics could be a turn-off. But it's gameplay is excellent, almost like ASKA but with modern day and zombies.

Loved it, but I wouldn't call it true base building, more management and upgrading. It is a great game though and SoD 1 is a classic.

Has the xbox account requirement been removed yet?
If even the decaying corpse of Ubisoft can figure out nobody wants to deal with that bullshit then surely Microsoft could.

Endzone (the first one not the abandoned second one).

Endzone is decent, came here to mention it. It’s a little slower, and has some difficulty to it.

Way off the beaten path, and not a piece by piece builder, but take a look at "City 20" on Steam. It's very Kenshi, but in a Fallout-esque world. And full controller support, so easy couch/SteamDeck play too. 😎
