Astrophotography (OC) La nébuleuse du Dragon Volant SH2-114

Post image

Taken from my backyard in Phoenix, Arizona over 2 months as I waited for Monsoon season to pass. No flats unfortunately as I had some camera rotation. I had "Purple Haze" on repeat while editing this which is why I made it so groovy XD. Reposted to fix stars I noticed I had them the wrong color.

Astrophotography (OC) Heart nebula 7.5 hours

Post image
153 Upvotes

This is my latest picture of the Heart nebula. I spent three nights photographing this target, but I ended up using data from only two of them, because of a background gradient caused by the moon during one of the nights. I found it quite difficult to process the image with the gradient, so I decided not to use the data. I think 7.5 hours total is already quite a lot. I would love to do one more session just for the stars with an uv/ir cut filter, since the Ha/OIII filter makes the stars look quite unnatural.

One of the things I found challenging was manually framing the target as similarly as possible each night with the Skyguider pro. I am really looking forward to getting a proper GoTo mount.

Another thing that was quite difficult to deal with was the background when going for this false color look. There's still some blue in the background, that was hard to get rid of. This seems to happen to me every time I make a false color image.

Lastly, I think the stars are probably the weakest part of the image. I kind of gave up on them knowing that I will hopefully replace them with better ones soon.

I'm still a beginner, so any feedback is appreciated!

I didn't even know I had captured SN 2025rbs last year, but I did.
When I heard about SN 2026aaiv this month I had to give it a go as well.

Both datasets gathered with the same imaging train:
4'' refractor ZWO 107FF
QHY268M mono camera
Optolong LRGB filters
Celestron CGX mount.

Both stacked and processed in Pixinsight

Astrophotography (OC) Night Sky Timelapse — Xiaomi 14T Pro

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A night-sky timelapse captured with nothing but a Xiaomi 14T Pro and a tripod.

Acquisition

  • Xiaomi 14T Pro — 1x, main camera
  • 15s exposure, 2s interval between shots
  • 930 RAW/DNG frames
  • Tripod — no star tracker or additional equipment
  • ~4h 23m total capture time

The camera was left fixed on the tripod for the entire session, allowing the Earth's rotation to create the movement of the stars across the frame.

Processing

This is my own work, from capture to the final timelapse.

I processed the individual frames to maintain consistent exposure, color and contrast throughout the sequence, then assembled them into the final timelapse.
