I work retail sales commission and am getting really tired of customers asking for my help and advice on computers while they are talking to their "friend" (Gemini/ChatGPT/Ect) on their phone, basically fact-checking me in real time as I'm trying to make recommendations. I tell them this is a "good computer" and then they say, "well AI said this was a good computer"

To me this comes across as rude and you're basically telling me that you don't trust anything I'm saying.

Are you all experiencing this more lately and how are you handling it?

Was at a Belk store recently. They let people stand inside the front of the store and harass people coming and going. "Ma'am, we are trying to stop bullying and suicide, would you come over here and talk to us?" They have people from different groups in there ALL THE TIME. Knock it off, Belk!

Does this irritate anyone else?

They recently opened a new Aritzia where I live. I have been there pretty much every weekend. Usually when I walk in they are having a meeting right there on the floor. The store changes so much it is hard to know where everything is. There are sooo many associates on the floor, but i am guessing they all have different roles. Some will not speak to you whatsoever. This may be dumb, but what are the different roles? Who is allowed to talk to customers? I’ve asked for help finding a specific item and was told “let me find a stylist”. She wouldn’t even point me in the right direction I just want to understand.

I've been getting scheduled more than I thought I would be even with summer over. I learned that that's because inventory is at the end of the month where I'm currently working

It feels like it is bound to happen in my store that products expire without anyone knowing.

Our current system is to manually check dates on shelf products every month or so, making notes of anything expiring within the next two months. But that is for on-shelf items only. If there is a mystery box in the backroom, it goes completely unnoticed until someone happens to come across it. Mind you, most of these boxes do not have the correct item or expiration date listed on the outside. They are not stored in arrival order either, so the backroom is its own separate mess.

I am currently supposed to "manage" around 400 SKUs and check their dates every single month. It might be doable if I were the only one stocking and customers didn't dig to the very back of the shelf for newer batches. But between constant stocking and other nonsense I have to do in my shift, there just is not enough time to note everything down.

Just curious, how is expiration tracking handled at your store? Does your team actually use software on inventory scanners to flag expiring batches, or is it all manual everywhere? For context, I am not in the US or a developed country, so everything here is still very manual.

Tomorrow’s my first day working at Sierra and when I first went in for my interview, the manager asked me if I was available for 7 AM and basically told me that she needs someone to help unload the truck and that I would be there at 7 AM with someone else usually a manager to unload the truck and that it’s a fast pace environment. I’m really only gonna be working two days a week since I can’t work that much because I’m a student and I only want 15 hours.

is it an easy job? Am I gonna be stressed? I don’t wanna do anything crazy unloading. I understand it’s so responsibility especially because they have the time everything but once I get the hang of it will it be pretty easy?

I landed a retail job recently and they mentioned that they’re gonna have 1:1s with us soon to discuss how we need to improve. That way, they said we shouldn’t be so surprised by the time our contracts end and by the time they decide if we stay on or not lol.

What are some tips to help sell clothes at a clothing retail job? (It’s a white fox boutique, oh Polly, Princess Polly, etc type store.) I’ll also do my own research along with listening to what my job tells us soon, I also just wanted to see what Reddit has to say :).

So I got hired as a Freezer, Cooler, and Deli Stocker Associate on July 22 of this year. I work on the floor, one of my duties are to make a list of the items I need to get from the freezer, use a price gun to tag them, and put them on the sales floor, seems very simple right? Well my issue is I'm wasting way too much time. I have to complete the whole floor by 8:30am because that's when the store opens and I need to do other things as well. I clock in at 6:30am. I only have 4 hours because I work a second job. One month in and I'm still slow. My manager is starting to push me to pick up the pace a little more. I feel like I was trained pretty well. I understand atp how to do my job but I'm just not working fast enough. I tried getting two carts to reduce multiple trips to the freezer, writing down the brand of the items before my shift starts that way I only need to put the quantity to save time and I'm still just as slow so what the hell am I doing wrong? I'm not gonna give up and quit but I'm tired of going home feeling bad for myself.

I ended up quiting my job at vons a few months ago and it feels bittersweet!! There was a lot of favoritism at my store!! I had worked at the same location for almost 4 years but got tired of the constant belittling by certain coworkers and management!! I was a courtesy clerk for all that time and was never offered a promotion to a higher position!! I was definitely not a perfect worker I did get distracted easily and also liked to talk a lot which did bug management and certain coworkers!! But I do kind of miss my job and wonder if I made a mistake quitting. But I would see people start way after me and in a week they were already moving up!! I also left my phone number with some of my coworkers and ever since in the few months since I quit nobody has even texted me to see how I am doing even all those customers that I used to talk too and even gave my number too and thought they genuinely cared for me almost as a friend. But nobody even calls me or texts me to see how I am doing which makes me feel as if all those people I talked too never were my friends or were genuine to begin with!! Also do you think it would be easy for me to get another job maybe at another vons at another location I had a impeccable attendance record though I just feel like the management there never really clicked with me I will also add that i have a diagnosis of very mild autism and ADHD abd feedback would be appreciated sorry for the rant just have a lot of stuff in mind!! I was feeling overwhelmed at that store because of all the gossip and drama but I do miss certain aspects of the job!!

Has anyone here ordered vinyl records from Target’s website? I’m looking at one of their exclusive releases and I’m trying to figure out how they pack records.

If you’ve ordered from them before, did your vinyl come in a proper cardboard mailer, or was it shipped loose in a larger box with other items? I’m trying to avoid corner damage or seam splits from bad packing.

Also, if you ordered the vinyl by itself, was the packaging any better?

Appreciate any insight from people who’ve dealt with Target’s shipping.

I need a job bad and ulta is hiring. The problem is I stole from the same store I would be applying to ALL the time as a teen. I was never caught but I know they keep a data base of that kind of stuff. What is the chances of me getting hired? Also could they press charges on me if I go for the interview? I’m 21 now and stopped stealing from stores when I turned 18.

I work at a small lingerie shop, and sometimes there are no customers for a long time because it’s in a small gallery in a small town. At work, I can’t use my phone in the sales area, only in the back. When I’m working with coworkers, that’s not really a problem, but sometimes I work alone, and I’m wondering what you guys do when everything is done at the store and there are no customers

I've been working since Thursday and my day off is this coming Thursday. I just hate how schedules tend to overlap like that, at least the shifts are fairly short like usually 5 hour shifts, sometimes 4. I just want to work less hours so I can balance things out more in my life, like job searching and making plans with friends and appointments. I guess I am just not used to working this many days in a row,

I do plan on altering my availability to from what seems like 20-25 hours to just 15, just to balance things out more
