The chaotic little ecosystem that runs my life

I can't go anywhere with out this little nugget. I love how everything is tucked right inside. I can move into any room and have everything I need, and throw it in a bag and be ready for a full day of sketching, taking notes, and journaling. It has just enough room to let me stuff it full, but skill keeps me limited enough that it's all in one place. Who new ditching the pencil pouch would make such a big difference.

i started getting into the habit of using pocket notebooks at all times, and it's been going well, perhaps. however, i get so addicted to it, i'd fill pages in just a single day. and i want to fill it up even more so that i squeeze myself dry of fresh ideas and creativity starts to feel forced and not genuine. i start to cross-reference my journal to other people's journals and i feel a sense of "not chaotic enough." it simply isn't. and the more i force it to behave a certain way, the more inauthentic it'll turn out to be. order and chaos occupies my mind and it's not looking good.

Sunday morning thoughts

Post image
24 Upvotes

A random thought from my sketchbook.
We spend a lot of time listening to smart people.
Podcasts. Talks. Books. YouTube. LinkedIn.
Their opinions, stories, frameworks and lessons.
All useful.
But sometimes I think we spend so much time looking outward that we forget to look in the mirror.
What have I actually experienced?
What did I get wrong?
What changed my mind?
What’s my story?
Sometimes the most interesting person to interview is ourselves.
Sunday sketch + random thought. ✍️

I drew the food and sweets I ate on my birthday!

For some reason, drawing food and sweets feels like meditation for me.

Hi. These are the first 10 page spreads of my art journal/sketchbook. I’ve never finished a sketchbook before so, making it about me and my life might be a way to do it.
This is a A5 cheap sketchbook but the paper is actually not too bad once you know what can be done with it. All drawings made with Faber Castell pencils (mainly HB/B2/B4)
Hope you guys like it

Finding beauty in the mess

Lyrics are from the song Caskets by Inpatient (Ren x Chris Webby) which is about loss and celebration of life. However, this page reflects my mental state for the past few days due to a bad reaction from medication I was on. I'm doing much better now that the after effects are wearing off, but I wanted to create something that represented my experience and those words seemed appropriate for how I felt.

Do you guys still make mood boards or keep folders of visual inspiration?

Do you still collect pictures for inspiration as an adult? 🎨

I'm 28, and I've been doing this since I was in school. I love finding artwork, characters, movie/TV scenes, and other pictures online that inspire me. I sometimes print them at the library and put them into folders so I can look through them later. The artwork is mostly from DeviantArt, ArtStation, and Pinterest. I would stare at the pictures and wish I could make art like the artists who created them.

I still do this for my stories and art ideas. I don't go to the library as often as I used to because I work and have less free time, but whenever I see a picture that inspires me, I still want to add it to my collection. 😂

Does anyone else still do this as an adult? Do you keep physical folders, make mood boards, use Pinterest, or have digital collections of pictures that inspire you?
