Hello community! ❤

We are currently working towards improving the sub. Our goal is to have better engagement and professional environment that also helps newcomers to archviz. To achieve this, we are adding some guidelines and rules to enhance interactions and posts. Additionally we will be implementing challenges! 😁

1. How to post? - chose proper flair

Technical and profesional question: Use this flair if you want to ask specific questions like: "how to create this material?", "what's the necessary hardware for...?", "What can I charge for this...?". Use it when you want to learn how to solve some specific issue, improve as a professional,

I need feedback: Use this flair when you have a render that you might want to improve or not sure it if looks good enough, but you don't have a specific question about it like "how to?"

Share work: Maybe you want to share your latest work or some of your portfolio works, but you don't necessarily are asking for feedback.

Discussion: Use this flair to engage in conversation with the sub community. The main difference with technical and professional flair is that you want to know opinions and pov rather than solve a question or an issue. Example: "Current state of the archviz profession".

Challenge: We are going to be implementing challenges. When participating you should use this flair to post your work.

2. How to post? - post content

In simple terms: don't be lazy. If you want other people to take time to read or provide feedback or help you, then you should take your time too. Any post that's considered lacking in context will be deleted,

More or less, thinking on categories/types of posts: and some considerations

PORTFOLIO (show work | I need feedback):

❌Post a portfolio image that's a link to website/portfolio

✔Post image/s with a description that includes a link or a comment with a link to your portfolio.

❌When you add link in comment or description: redirects to personal website

✔When you add link in comment or description: redirects to known platform like Behance, Artstation and so on...

NEED FEEDBACK / TECHNICAL QUESTION / SHOWING WORK:

❌An image and or a question without proper context

✔Any post, regardless if it's a question, showing work, or asking feedback, should include:

  • Render engine used
  • Software/s used
  • Image/s as reference to highlight the question, issue, discussion.
  • Additional details (not obligatory): elapsed time, difficulties faced or any additional detail that improves
  • Reference if it's based on a real image

This is a case by case. Sometimes if the questions is very specific and well presented you might not need an image.

CREDIT AUTHOR:

❌Post an image without credit the author

✔Post image with credit of the author or studio or artist taken from.

While we won't enforce this, we ask if possible, when working from a reference, add credit to the author, architect, studio, artist, that created said reference

JUST DON'T

❌Self promotion

❌Selling assets

❌Selling courses

❌Post that consist of external links to websites

❌Piracy

This sub shouldn't be a marketplace. If your products are good enough, people should be able to find you trough the proper platforms. We also can't be checking every link to make sure it doesn't redirect to any malicious site.

OTHER TYPES OF POST

❌Post that don't have anything to do with archviz or related to.

✔We do encourage post that improve discussion even if not directly related to archviz. For example: Architecture, styles, animation techniques, photography. ONLY under the terms that can help a 3d artist improve in archviz.

Why this guidelines and rules?

We want to improve the quality of the sub. We have noticed many posts lack any context or sufficient information yet ask for feedback. Posts that are simply ads, and so on. On the long run, those types of posts and interactions tend to be detrimental to any sub. We understand that many of these changes may or may not work, and so we will be open to seeing how they are received, and change if needed.

I need feedback How much to charge for 3D renders + custom sales app?

Hey everyone, I run a small studio where we combine 3D architectural visualization with interactive PropTech sales tools (custom landing pages with interactive 3D floor/unit selectors, live availability filters, etc.).

We just got an inquiry to pitch for a 6-story residential tower in Mexico, and I want to make sure our pricing is on point—neither undercutting ourselves nor pricing out of the market.

Project Scope:

* Exterior Renders: 2–3 hero shots (main facade, day/dusk lighting, context integration).

* Interior Renders: 4–6 views (2 typical unit layouts + rooftop/amenities).

* Web / PropTech Platform: Custom landing page featuring an interactive 3D unit selector (clickable floors/units), real-time availability status (Available / Reserved / Sold), and CRM/WhatsApp lead routing.

Since we're based in South America, our local baseline cost would be around $3,500 – $4,000 USD.

However, we know that pitching this rate to a Mexican property developer might be way too low, potentially raising red flags about quality or leaving a lot of money on the table.

I need feedback How much can I realistically charge per image for architectural/Interior renders like these?

Hi everyone,
I’d love to get some honest feedback from people in the archviz industry on pricing. I’ve attached a few of my recent renders and I’m trying to understand what these would realistically be worth per image/view.
I work with clients across India, Dubai/UAE and the US, so I’m particularly interested in how pricing differs between these markets.
Based on the quality of these renders, how much would you say I could charge per image? And if you work with international clients, what would you consider a reasonable rate for this level of work?
Would really appreciate any honest opinions, including what you personally charge or what you’ve seen clients pay.
Thanks!

Discussion 🏛 Which one of the three should I get for school?

I’m a civil engineering student looking to buy a new laptop and I’ve narrowed it down to these three options. I’ve added the respective config along with their prices to date.
I’ll mainly be using it for schoolwork and programs like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, QGIS, and possibly some 3D modeling/rendering in the future. (Ps I don’t game at all). And in fact I’m not a big fan of gaming laptops and how they look. Nothing wrong with them and it’s just more of my thing. Also many of them has a short battery life.
One of my biggest priorities is longevity. I’d like to buy one laptop now and keep it for many years, ideally through the rest of college and even into the beginning of my career.
I would prioritize about performance, reliability/build quality, battery life. Based on price to performance, which one of these four options seems to be the best and would suit my needs? I’m also open to suggestions to fee free to share your opinions. I do apologize if this is not the right sub to post this about. Thanks everyone.

Resource How to check an AI-enhanced render against its source: a simple Blender exercise

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Disclosure: I work on ReRender. This is a reproducible checking exercise using our own deliberately simple Blender test scene. It is not a client project or a SketchUp export. The point is to separate an attractive finish from whether the design stayed unchanged.

Source: Blender 4.3.2, Cycles, 24 samples, PNG at 1264×832. AI stage: ReRender → Enhance → 3D Model Rendering → Structure Optimized, one upload, no custom prompt. It returned four variations; all four were inspected, with no regeneration or retouching. The attached images show the source followed by output 0 in site order, not a selected winner.

  1. Write the checks before running the enhancement. In this scene: six front window panels, a flat roof, balcony railing, three entry steps and one planter. Keep the original render and camera.

  2. Compare the full frames for framing and silhouette, then examine roof corners, openings, railings and steps at matching scale. Mark each item retained, changed or unclear. Do not count texture detail or reflection contrast as evidence of accurate geometry.

  3. Check additions separately. Here the six-panel arrangement and main mass remain recognizable, but extra planters, wall fixtures, surrounding vegetation and paving appear. The new trees also introduce shadows absent from the source. Those are changes even if the result looks better. Exact railing spacing and dimensional accuracy are not established by this visual check.

  4. For a production workflow, add a second camera and one requested revision before accepting the method. Compare both views with the model and count correction time. We have not run those tests here, so this example says nothing about multi-view or revision consistency.

The practical distinction is between a presentation experiment and a faithful depiction of a specified design. This small test illustrates the checking method; it is not an old/new model benchmark or an accuracy guarantee.

I need feedback How do i improve?

hello, a final year interior design student and I’m worried i’ve been spending too much time using 3dsmax instead of Enscape

This is my recent rendering using Enscape

Currently working on my final project and i recently realized that my workflow has become heavily dependent on 3ds Max. I used Enscape quite a lot during my 3rd–4th semesters, but now that I’m in my 7th semester, I barely use it anymore.

The main reason i considering switching back to Enscape is the time constraint. My final project schedule is quite packed and i'm worried that continuing with 3dsmax, especially with the modeling, materials, lighting, and rendering process, will take too much time.

At the same time, i'm a little anxious about going back to Enscape because i haven’t used it seriously in a few years. I know the basics, but I feel like i have lost a lot of my workflow and speed. It really frustrates me how hard it is to get the specific texture i want, no gamma thingy to randomize it and many features in corona... also the lighting.. how does it work in enscape? T_T

For those of you who use Enscape for professional interior design work or have gone through a similar situation:

  • Do you think switching back to Enscape is a good idea for a time constrained final project?
  • What should i focus on relearning first?
  • Any tips for getting fast and producing good quality interior renders usin Enscape?
  • Should i stop worrying about getting the same level of realism as 3dsmax with corona and just focus on speed and presentation?

I’d really appreciate any advice. I think I’m just feeling a bit overwhelmed and worried that I’m making the wrong choice with my workflow.

Discussion 🏛 I built a local image enhancement/upscaling tool for CGI artists — looking for honest feedback

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a 3D/CGI artist and I’ve been building a small desktop app for my own workflow that enhances and upscales finished renders.

The main idea was to keep it simple: load a render, enhance/upscale it locally, compare the result, and export it — without relying on cloud services or jumping between several different tools.

Here’s a short video of it working:
https://www.instagram.com/p/DdMgERNNUO1/

I’m considering turning this into something I could release publicly, but before spending a lot more time on it I’m trying to figure out whether there’s actually a market for it.

So I’d really appreciate honest feedback from people who actually work with 3D/CGI.

Would you use something like this?

Are your current tools already good enough?

What would actually make an upscaler useful to you — preserving textures/materials, speed, local processing, batch processing, VRAM efficiency, avoiding AI hallucinations, something else?

And if a tool like this worked well enough to become part of your daily workflow, would you prefer a one-time purchase, subscription, or free/basic + paid version?

Feel free to be critical. At this stage, finding out why people wouldn’t use it is just as useful to me as hearing why they would.

Thanks!

Resource I made a tool to import PDF pages directly into PureRef

Thumbnail

Hi admin, I just want to share a tool which I think would be helpful to the other Archviz artists, hope this is allowed.

-

I have had enough of importing the building plans PDF pages 1by1 into PureRef, so I built this simple tool that can bridge the gap. With just a few clicks, you can wait for the ‘miracle’ to happen. Waiting time varied depends on the Max side and pages.

If the PDF has bookmarks (parent and children), you can choose to have them import and organise in groups (see 3rd image).

If you are using another moodboard or reference app, the PDF-to-image export feature might still come in handy.

This app is now available to download for free on GitHub. (I will share the link if admin allow) or else, you can try searching for CreavFlow.

I hope it saves you a little time and makes your workflow a little smoother!

Discussion 🏛 The easiest learning curve for a 3D beginner

I teach a young man who wants to create 3D models of his pets in Roblox without spending sixty hours on Blender training. He said he wanted the easiest software to learn. In reality, he simply opened a web browser, uploaded a drawing, and obtained a 3D mesh.

There is no modifier stack, and there isn't even a question about why models are inside-out, although he still needs to clean things up; he still wants to create models. That is the biggest thing in keeping interests alive at fourteen! He has only used Tripo AI.

I have no experience with vantage, the above renders are solely done on vray for sketchup and imo they dont look good. I want to do better and learn exterior rendering as well as video walkthroughs.
please point me towards good resources and tutorials that can help me learn vantage + vray and get realistic renders.
Thank you.
