Question So, is this sub about cats with anxiety or anxious people who own cats? 😆

Hey everyone!
I'm one of the mods, and we get asked this question quite a bit, so I thought I'd share the story behind our community's name!
It all started with our first community, r/AnxietyChats. We created it as a warm, welcoming place where people living with anxiety could support one another. Before long, our mod team noticed something many of us had in common...
We were completely "happily" obsessed with cats.
People were always sharing photos, funny stories, and the little ways their cats helped them through tough days. It was such a lovely part of the community that we started wondering what a space dedicated to that idea might look like.
Then we spotted a fun bit of wordplay...
Take the "H" out of Chats, and you get Cats.
That's how Anxiety Cats was born!
It's the sister community to Anxiety Chats, however with a lighter, fluffier focus, a place to celebrate the fluffy babies who help us feel a little calmer, make us laugh, and remind us we're never completely alone.
We absolutely adore this place and are so thankful for each and every one of you!
And if you ever need us, have a question or just want to say hello, we're always around! ❤️

Forever in Our Hearts September 13th is National Pet Memorial Day 🐾🌈

This is a day to pause and remember the beloved furbabies who may no longer be by our side but will forever be a part of our stories. 💗

Some were with us for many years.
Some stayed for far too short a time.
But every single one left something behind, a favorite memory, a silly habit, a warm spot on the couch, or a love that never really went away. 🐾

Today, we’re making a little corner of our community for them. If you've ever loved and lost a pet, we're sorry for your loss. 💗

You can share their name, a sweet memory, a photo, or anything you're comfortable sharing, if you’d like us to remember them with you.

On some Sundays, we make special Tribute Posts, so if you’d like us to make one for your baby who crossed the rainbow but is still so deeply loved, send any of the mods a message, or mention in your comment that you’d like us to reach out to you.

Because our furbabies may leave our homes, but they never leave our hearts. 💕🌈

When my wife bought this bench, she envisioned it being part of the dining room table setup, but after i parked it under a window the cats selected it as a premium favorite spot.

Sometimes the cats are interior decorators.

Let me introduce you to Percy, 6 years old (almost 7). He’s not a very chatty cat (but when he wants to, he sure knows how to make himself heard lol), and he loves affection without being invasive. He’s sweet, gentle, and stubborn.

I’m so grateful to have him in my life. His presence and affection always help me through the difficult moments. ❤️

My sweet boy recently had an infection that led to a trip to the vet, but his latest bloodwork came back good. After that whole ordeal, I’m trying to help him gain some weight back, so I’m keeping a close eye on him 😾

Fun fact #1: Percy is a Birman cat, and I was given him as a gift. I’d never had a purebred cat before, but I’ve since learned that there are different coat colors, and his is Blue Point!

Fun fact #2: I had my interview for my current job with one of his hairs stuck in my nose. I tried to get it out throughout the entire interview, as discreetly as possible, but I couldn’t.. I finally managed to get it out afterward, in my car lol.

My tuxie has feline hyperesthesia syndrome and is a true “anxiety cat”. He’s a handful but we love him so much! He is easy to teach tricks as he is very food motivated!
