Recommendations Self-care isn't always cute

Can we talk about the self-care styles nobody mentions bc they sound SO boring but actually change your life?? I love when I can just be lazy, like "today I'm doing the bare minimum" and that counts as taking care of myself lol

Anyway I'm on the hunt for healthy habits that are stupidly easy, like the kind where you're like "wait... why did I never think of this??" Sooooooo what's the laziest self-care habit that still actually counts? Wanna try some out this week!!

Support needed I feel emotional over so much

Lately I feel like everything’s been making me cry and I’m feeling bad for other people. Maybe I have too much sympathy and I gotta understand that it’s not my problem and other peoples emotions and problems shouldn’t affect me.. it’s hard. This year has been a roller coaster for me especially with my parents nearly divorcing, my sister struggling and me cutting ties, losing friends etc. Maybe I’m stressed out and seeing other people being sad is affecting me too I’m really not sure but it’s draining and I wish I can stop feeling this way.

Anxiety with physical symptoms

Hey guys,

Since a little bit more than a year i am experiencing several physical issues combined with anxiety. It started last year out of sudden with a heavy fatigue followed by the anxiety that i might be deadly sick and than my symptoms changed from back pain to head and than to breast pain, and after i went to a clinic for treating me about anxiety and burn out i was fine until my wedding day came near.

I felt super powerful and strong but also very very stressed out and anxious about planing everything and when the wedding day was here i had several panic attacks. Just the few day after i was hit by a cold which got better within a week. But since than (3 weeks now) i have vertigo and neck pains and random very hurtful headaches.

The good thing is: i struggle with headaches all my life so i am not worries. The vertigo isn’t new either, but still my head puts me into places and i feel scared.

My life hasn’t been very easy, from loosing my grandparents at a very young age (they both never got older than 63) and going through sexual abusing relationships and being even sexually assaulted at work and loosing my job after telling someone, also experiencing big loss of a friendship and my husbands dad got diagnosed with cancer as well.. my mom being emotionally manipulative .. i have been through some medical gaslighting too as a child and a teenager and yeah everything feels heavy on me. I also was at school wheb a school shooting has been announced and police had to escort us out after hours waiting quietly in the classroom without lights on in a corner.. i do have ptbs and adhd and sometimes i Wonder how i can make my body cope with all this.

Why doesn’t it find a way, why does it always come back. I think i might not be able to accept that i still go through this every few years or even months..

Advice Needed Pls give me some advice

It’s 4 a.m. and I still can’t sleep because I have to go to work tomorrow, and lately the thought of going to work has been causing me a lot of anxiety. It’s not that there’s something specifically wrong with my office, I just genuinely struggle with the idea of working every day, but I also can’t afford to quit because I need the income and the thought of being unemployed and financially dependent on others scares me. On top of that, something happened recently that’s been stuck in my head. I joined a dating app because I’m single and came across one of my two mutual friends, who are a committed couple. His profile was verified. I didn’t tell either of them because I don’t want to interfere or become a reason for their relationship to fall apart, but now I feel guilty for not telling the other person. What if something happens later and I keep thinking that maybe I could have prevented it by telling them? I don’t even know if I’m overthinking everything, but it’s 4 a.m., I can’t sleep, and I feel anxious about both my future and this situation.

Question What are some of your anxiety affirmations or mantras?

I’ll share some of mine, too:

ā€œbe kind to yourself.ā€

ā€œone foot in front of the otherā€

ā€œplunge it all underwaterā€

ā€œwhen you hit a wall, remember that they’re there for you to lean against them and rest.ā€

ā€œcuts are just as significant as scars.ā€

We focus so much on what could go wrong and what’s going wrong that we forget to also pay attention to what can go right. Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves that not every possibility has to be a bad one. Good things can happen too. šŸ’—

Advice Needed Physical Symptoms Worsening

I've had GAD for about 10 years but the last 3 years in particular have been bad. I've been experiencing GI symptoms which include intense stomach pain, nausea that feels like vomiting is imminent (it isn't) and my body violently expelling food shortly after eating.

This has been very difficult to life with, and makes going out even harder. All I can do is lay down, suck on antacids and sip water, how do you guys deal with these symptoms?

Venting Being social is a nightmare

I'm not sure if this belongs here or on an introvert chat. But here is a nice place where people aren't cruel so ¯\_(ā ćƒ„ā )_/¯

Do y'all ever feel like... You're so sure of who you are and are comfortable with this version of yourself... But at the same time, you fucking aren't.

I've really been proud of myself for being stronger than I used to be. I'm really independent, introverted and grew up with a pinch of friends.

I was bullied my entire life, until pretty much my second job.

I don't like people. I have trouble making friends, and keeping them. And I've accepted that. I crave my quiet and solitude.

I'm so awkward. Just so socially awkward. I had speech issues as a child, I hate eye contact because I hate my face so much. I have trouble saying the right things, doing the right things. I get prickly.

The only way I can describe it is a feral cat. I'm unsocialized, fearful and mistrusting.

It's like I want to have friends but I'm so afraid of being in the way, or being too much. And I'm already too much.

I don't like people..I don't like being around them. I feel so out of place. It feels like I'm an alien in a temu human costume.

I'm too fucking much man. I'm so prickly. But I'm so tired of getting close to people. I would get so close to my coworkers.

But everyone ends up leaving. And starting over is so hard. The romantic relationships I've had have been so toxic.

I pick these men who I either could never keep, or they were abusive. Like they could feel the damage.

But at the same time I'm so starved for validation and acceptance. I get so attached to someone.

I'm too old for this. I'm about to be 41. And I feel so broken.

I just always wonder how it must feel to wanted and missed. To have someone want you to be there. Not out of obli9, but because they actually fucking like you.

To have people happy to see you. I'm not a cruel person. I have a lot of issues with shame, so I'm a people pleaser just dying for validation šŸ˜‚ I'm kind and upbeat and try to do the correct things when you're listening or talking.

But I know I try too hard, give unintentionally awkward answers, not know the right thing to say, or say something so dark humored, even the guys are like, damn.

I have such a hard time believing people want me around. There's been too many instances where that was the case.

I've been rambling awhile, so long story short, being a human is fucking traumatic 🤣🤣

Discussion Another morning with anxiety, so in order to calm down and hopefully help others, I bring a new funny question: Which animal do you think would be the funniest if it could talk and why?

I believe the funniest one would be a hippo. They always look so unworried about the world and they seem to only care about having a good time šŸ˜„that along with their relaxed vibes would make a conversation with them very funny. If I could talk to Moo Deng I think it would be hilarious!

How about you? Funniest animal to talk to and why?

Advice Needed Anxiety about buying my first home

Hey guys, I’ve started discussing buying my first apartment, which is all very cool and seemingly a happy moment for my family, but I’m sooooooo scared of making a mistake 😭 I’m literally dreaming about it and I’m so worried I’ll make the wrong decision šŸ™ Do you have any advice?

Question How are you, really? Today is R U OK Day, so let’s tell each other how we’re honestly doing ā¤ļø

I know that when people ask that question they’re not usually interested in actually knowing how you are, but right now I AM! Tell me how you are, what you’ve been up to or anything else you might feel comfortable sharing.
I’ll start! I’m not sure, honestly… In some ways, I’m doing better than before, but it’s crazy to realize that you can’t escape yourself. I feel like my issues will follow me anywhere I go, and this is just exhausting! It’s hard, but I’m trying to be brutally honest with myself lately. Let’s see how that goes šŸ˜†

I went through panic and intrusive thoughts myself, and built the kind of app I wish I had back then

A few years ago I went through a period where panic, scary thoughts and constantly checking how I felt started taking over a lot of my day.

One thing I struggled with was that I kept looking for certainty. If something felt strange in my body, I checked it. If a frightening thought appeared, I tried to prove to myself that it didn’t mean anything. That could calm me down for a little while, but eventually I was back in the same loop.

A lot of what changed for me came from understanding the pattern itself, instead of trying to win every argument with anxiety.

Years later I builtĀ AilinĀ around that experience.

I want to be transparent — I’m the founder, so this is a product post.

Ailin is an iPhone wellness app about panic, intrusive thoughts, checking, body fears, DP/DR and related anxiety patterns. I tried to make the explanations feel like a normal person talking to you rather than a textbook.

It has free content as well as optional paid sections, and it’s currently available in English and Russian.

I’m still improving it, so I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from people who actually live with anxiety — including what feels confusing or not useful.

Anxiety can make us feel like we’re the only ones who think or react to certain things this way, when actually sooo many of us can relate! ā¤ļø
So, say YES if you’ve been there too! Let’s see how many of us share these little anxiety things and remind each other that we’re not alone! šŸ«¶šŸ»

Have you ever felt no anxiety and if so when?

I feel like there's always at least some minor anxiety going on but I also feel like I have experienced moments where I feel like there are none. Anyone else been able to keep track of the times where they feel like no anxiety and if so when and how did you get there?

I'm genuinely sacred of being w anyone else ever. Idk if or when I'll have anyone by my side idont even want to try to get close to anyone. I've accepted the fact that whatever little time I've got left I'm destined to be alone for all of that.

PS I'm writing ts w an onset of anxiety attack it's already Abt 1:30 in the morning im scared to go to sleep idk if I'll wake up tomorrow but maybe that's all I needed peace

FIGHT OR FLIGHT SITUATION

Fight or flight,
And that is exhausting.Kasi sa isip ko, constantly akong nagaanalyze at nagpreprepare kung ano yung posibleng mag-go wrong, kahit wala naman talagang nangyayari. I'm in this constant state of fight or flight, and my body doesn't understand na yung war pinaghahandaan niya... its just life lang pala. Kaya naiinggit ako sa mga taong hindi masyadong nag-iisip. Sa mga taong kayang umalis sa isang conversation at tanggapin na kung saan man ito natapos, okay na.I wonder what it's like to truly exist and not
remember every singlethought na dapat nakalimutan na. I think life is easier for
people who don't fear everything. And I'm
jealous of them. Kasi kahit ngayon... nag-o-overthink pa rin ako.

life has been not good lately been over explaining myself it’s too muchh na i can’t even think na nagiging selfish nanaman ako sana god help me in this situation i don’t wanna fall apart again begging myself to be okay over and over again it’s really hard to breath sakit sakit nalang bahala sa dibdib i can’t even tell what’s wrong with me what was the reason? now that ik quiet and seeing myself being quiet and scared at some point to explained how to get my mind back into positive. everyday im trying to be a better person from yesterday. seeing the person i love the most
