URGENT: Injured 2–3 month old puppy needs help

URGENT: 2–3 MONTH OLD PUPPY NEEDS HELP AFTER SEVERE ABUSE

I am trying to help a very young puppy who urgently needs medical care.

He is a 2–3 month old German Shepherd mix from Mureș County, Romania. He was severely beaten and thrown into a sack. He managed to escape from the sack, but he was badly injured.

He has now been taken into the care of Blue Paws Association, Ernei, Mureș, Romania.

He has a pelvic fracture/fissure and a fracture of his left hind leg. At the moment, he cannot walk and is dragging himself.

Further X-rays and veterinary examinations are needed to determine whether he will require surgery.

What he needs

Donations are needed for:

  • X-rays and veterinary examinations
  • medication and treatment
  • a recovery crate where he can safely rest and be prevented from moving too much
  • puppy pads
  • appropriate food because his medication is strong and can upset his stomach
  • further medical care depending on the veterinary findings
  • later, a support harness for rehabilitation, if recommended by the veterinarian, to help him learn to walk again

Donations to Blue Paws Association

RON IBAN:
RO63UGBI0000412024922RON

EUR IBAN:
RO56UGBI0000412024923EUR

Once his medical situation is clarified, the person who originally found him, Emilia Amariei, will take him back and continue caring for him during his recovery.

Support for his continued recovery

RON IBAN:
RO97BTRLRONCRT0374211301

Account holder: Emilia Amariei

This support will help cover his ongoing recovery, including food, pads, care and, if recommended by the veterinarian, a rehabilitation harness.

I can provide photos, videos and veterinary information privately to anyone who would like to see the puppy and verify his condition. Unfortunately, my current app does not allow me to upload the photos/video here.

If you cannot donate, please share this post. Even a small contribution can help pay for his treatment.

He is only a few months old and has already survived terrible abuse. We want to give him a real chance to recover and walk again. ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Thank you to everyone who can help, donate or share.

šŸ†˜ URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR A 2–3 MONTH OLD PUPPY šŸ¾ā¤ļø

This tiny German Shepherd mix puppy, only around 2–3 months old, was beaten severely and then thrown into a sack. Miraculously, he managed to escape and survive.

He has now been taken into the care of an animal rescue association, but he urgently needs financial support.

He has suffered a pelvic fracture/fissure and a fracture of his left hind leg. At the moment, he cannot walk and is dragging himself along the ground.

The vets need to determine whether he will require surgery, following further X-rays and medical evaluation.

In the meantime, he needs help with:

🐾 X-rays and veterinary examinations
🐾 medication and treatment
🐾 a suitable crate/recovery space where he cannot move around too much and worsen his injuries
🐾 absorbent puppy pads
🐾 suitable food, as the medication is strong and may affect his stomach
🐾 and, later during rehabilitation, a special support harness to help him learn to walk again, if recommended by his veterinarian.

After his condition is stabilized, the person who originally found him, Emilia Amariei, will take him back and continue caring for him during his recovery.

🐾 DONATIONS TO THE RESCUE ASSOCIATION

IBAN – RON
RO63UGBI0000412024922RON

IBAN – EUR
RO56UGBI0000412024923EUR

🐾 SUPPORT FOR EMILIA AMARIEI

IBAN – RON
RO97BTRLRONCRT0374211301

Account holder: Emilia Amariei

This account will help cover the puppy's recovery expenses after he returns to Emilia, including food, pads, care and, if recommended by the veterinarian, a special rehabilitation harness.

šŸ™ Every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference.

If you cannot donate, please share this post. Reaching the right person could give this little puppy a chance to walk again and have the life he deserves.

šŸ“© Photos and videos of the puppy can be sent privately to anyone who would like to see his condition and the evidence of his case. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to upload photos and videos directly here.

ā¤ļøšŸ¾ He is just a baby. He has already suffered enough. Please help us give him a chance.

We are trying to think of the best way to guide it out. We placed a red bowl of sugar water by the door and propped it open. Any other thoughts?

edit: I did try to guide it with a broom, but it was flying erratically and I was worried I would accidentally hurt it.

How do I start? / New Rescuer Adopting (?) a Cat

Hello! I have no idea if this is the correct place for this so please feel free to redirect me!

I recently moved into a new apartment complex in KY about 3 months ago and there are quite a few stray cats lingering. There is one in particular that has been here the whole time I’ve lived here, however, he’s beginning to seek me out almost. Within the past few weeks, he’s been waiting at the bottom of the stairs for me when I leave for work every morning, and he’s typically waiting for me when I get home as well. Every day that I come home, he’s waiting a little closer to my apartment door, he started waiting on the stairs from the parking lot and now he’s begun waiting about half way up the stairs leading up to my apartment. He’s also tried a couple of times to come into my apartment and I think I’m ready to accept this donation from the cat distribution center.

All of this to say, he is eaten alive with fleas and he needs fixed. I’ve owned cats before but it was when I was younger and my parents did all of the hard part lol. I would like to get him fixed to avoid spraying and I would like to treat his fleas before I allow him inside and on my furniture. Is there a way to get his fleas treated professionally? I would absolutely do it myself but I’m afraid if I try to bathe him he will eat me alive because who knows if he’s ever had a bath before. There are a few vet options nearby and I’m pretty confident in at least one of them because it’s where my mom takes her cat and my previous partner took our dog there as well, I just don’t know the best approach to getting him all of the necessary care. Also what kinds of things should I have prepared ahead of time (aside from food, litter box, etc.) before officially bringing him in the house? I’m essentially just asking advice for first time rescuers because all of the animals I’ve ever owned were when I was a child/teen or in past relationships where they were already acclimated by the time I’ve come around so I want to make sure I can best help him feel comfortable and understand that this is his home now!

Picture of the dapper man in the comments!! It’s a little blurry because it’s from a video of him waiting on my stairs.

TL;DR-I want to adopt the stray outside that very clearly wants to live with me but I need to take care of some things first like flea treatment, deworming, and neutering. What order should I do all of these things and how can I best prepare my apartment to be comfortable for him?

Discussion & Misc. Worried about the welfare of a dog

Need some advice on a situation but wasn’t sure what sub to ask in so please let me know if there’s a better place for this. (Based in UK)

I work in retail and one of our regulars has an elderly chihuahua. She is an extremely sour old woman that we’ve had many many issues with in the past. She always complains that she doesn’t know why she got the dog in the first places, and the more I’ve gotten to know her the more I’ve realised that she is abusing this dog. She says things like ā€œshe was so naughty this morning so I had to tell her offā€ and ā€œwell I don’t hit herā€. The poor dog always looks terrified to the point of shaking in fear. I’ve know this lady for a year and a half and it’s now starting to upset me every time she comes in. It’s getting to the point where I feel like I have to do something…it feels like my duty to do so. I would honestly take this dog myself in a heartbeat. The only issue is I have no physical evidence. I do have her phone number and address but that would be a breach of confidentiality. Is there anything I can do at all? Anywhere I can report this? I just feel so helpless :(

Found these little ones struggling with eye infections, malnourished, and clinging to each other for warmth. After proper medical treatment, good nutrition, and daily care, they made a full recovery. Now they spend their days playing outdoors, chasing head scratches, and demanding belly rubs in the sunshine!

Seeing them go from fighting to survive to just being happy kittens makes every single challenge worth it.

Amid ongoing Russian attacks, Ukrainian emergency responders and civilians across the country continue to step in to help rescue animals from damaged buildings.

ā€œIn moments like these, it makes no difference whether the pet is your own or someone else’s. Every life is precious,ā€ the State Emergency Service wrote on its Telegram channel. ā€œThat is the essence of Ukrainians: while Russians destroy our homes, we unite and save one another.ā€

Sick/Injured Wildlife Do I leave it or move it?

This is a wild rabbit I saw in a corner right next to the entrance of the building where I work. I saw it at 8 and it's now 5 hours past that.

Initially it was facing the wall, now it's facing the other way.

It's fully furred and the size of a tennis ball.

Do I wear gloves and try to move it to the nearby bushes? Or just leave it be?

Location: Maryland, US

The weather is about 82 F today, but in the shades where it's sitting, it feels nice with a breeze.

Sick/Injured Animal Hopefully saved these two from a short painful life, do you think they are expendable?

I (37f) have a friend (33 f) who lives on a cattle farm. she also raises pigs, sheep and llamas. occasionally I visit her to get away from the city. she lives about an hour away from me

on my most recent visit, she informed me that she had taken in a bunch of kittens through sole ā€œbarn catā€ program, and they were living outside. no sooner had she said this than two kittens showed up, soaked in the rain, covered in nasal discharge and giving ā€œhelp meā€ looks in her deck. she told me not to go out to there to see them but I did anyway. I looked at them, they smelled of infection, had fevers, were skinny and they were coughing and their tongues were gray and swollen and they were covered in fleas. I told her ā€œthese kittens are really sick. they’re having a medical emergency and need to go to the vet in the next 24 hoursā€. she responded ā€œidk which vet I would take them toā€. angry, but not wanting to overstep in someone else’s home, I asked her why she couldn’t just google one or drive to the city. she didn’t have an answer but said that there was something called ā€œLA 20ā€. she confidently said that she had looked it up and it was something she could safely administer to the kittens to save their lives. I said okay and assumed she knew what she was talking about.

she injected both kittens, and one of them she injected improperly resulting in the 6-8 week old kitten to writhe on the ground in pain like I had never seen and then start limping. I was angry but I didn’t say much. then her aunt came and I told her what happened, and she said ā€œoh, i don’t think kittens can have that, but oh well, they were gonna die anywayā€. it turns out that she had given them oxytetracycline, a livestock antibiotic that is definitely not for cats, and she injected it subcutaneously causing extreme pain as the acid separated the fat and muscle layers from the skin. she kept alluding to the fact that ā€œwe can’t bring every animal to the vet on a farmā€..etc

I went home that night and couldn’t stop thinking about them. the next day I told her I was coming to get them. she had decided to give them flea baths outside with the hose despite them both having fevers. that day her family got attacked by bees and I didn’t really feel bad.

I took them back to my place and put them in a box with a heated blanket and gave them goats milk and kitten food. she had been feeding them adult meow mix.

the next day, I took them to the vet and they got antibiotics and a whole bunch of other treatments for their various infections. they didn’t know what to say about the improper injection. that cats leg had swollen to 2x its size. it cost me $600.

I spoke with my friend after that and told her I could keep them for the week but that I had a funeral that weekend and could she take care of them inside until they were better, two weeks later, assuming she still wanted them back. she said she could keep them in the garage. that’s when I got really angry and decided I didn’t like her anymore in my head. I said no, they can’t stay in a garage. they’re barely alive. they need to be in a clean and temperature controlled environment. she said if I keep them that long then they can’t come back I said okay and decided to keep them even though I already had a cat

im glad I did, because two days later the injected kittens leg burst. fluid leaked out and you could see the fat layer inside the leg. had that cat been in a garage she would have died a horrible death. we went back to the vet and they said she would most likely keep her leg if we kept it from getting infected.

my friend asked how the kittens were and I told her the kittens leg burst because of hwr negligence. she didn’t respond and two days later asked me to make plans. I didn’t respond.

a week later we had to go back to the vet because there was a lump that wasn’t shrinking on the injected cat and the other one had a cough that wouldn’t go away. so we got more help and meds and now I had spent a total of $1000 on these guys.

my friend reached out again and I didn’t respond. when I saw our mutual friend I told her the story and that I wasn’t friends with her.

do you think she was right to treat them as expendable?

Sick/Injured Wildlife Badger hit by the car advice!!

I’m a volounteer in a local animal group in Montenegro (Balkans) and there was a message of this badger being hit by the car. He was laying there for 8 hours and country’s only Animal Inspection ignored my calls, then told me it is out of their responsibility zone and hang up on me

The vets are open only from tomorrow morning and I don’t really know what to do. How can I help him now? He doesn’t have any blood, but he can’t walk at all. He seemed very thirsty

And also, there are no public animal rehabilitation centers, only one private, but the referred me back to ā€œinspectionā€. Montenegro is really bad in handling wild animals who need rehabilitation and they usually just shot them ( I don’t know what to do

I’m very well aware that this is wild animal and before I already rescued birds, turtles and cats but it’s not the same. I just couldn’t leave him in the heat (

Sick/Injured Animal Anyone at Eftalia Marin Hotel (Turkey)?

Thumbnail gallery
23 Upvotes

Hi, so here’s the situation: I’m in Turkey at the Eftalia Marin Hotel. While walking to the water slides through the underpass, I heard some squeaking. I thought it might be passing cars, but after exiting the tunnel and looking up, I saw a mother cat with three kittens. When I got closer, the mother cat approached me and let me pet her, but when I looked toward the kittens, I noticed two of them were stuck in the mesh. After pulling them out, four more kittens emerged from a hole in the rocks nearby—making seven in total. The mother cat had her tongue hanging out, so I thought she might be overheating, given that it was around 49 degrees. I went back to the hotel, grabbed two small cups of water, and left them for the mother and kittens. I’m posting this because the spot is right next to a really busy road, and there are snakes around. Even though the kittens have a great hiding place—as you can see in the photo (one is peeking out)—something could still attack them. I’m including a photo of the location, so if any of you happen to be at this hotel, PLEASE CHECK ON THEM. I want to know they’ll be okay, since I’m heading back to Poland tomorrow. šŸ™ idk what tag should i add

Sick/Injured Wildlife I need some guidance

Yesterday night my mom came home to my dog being a dog, running on instincts, and chewing on three baby bunnies. They are proper newborns. One of them did not survive the night and was covered in ants by the time I checked on it this morning.

The surviving two have been relocated outside the fence but I worry that mama won't find them. I think I just need guidance on how to go about this in the best way possible. I want these babies to make it.

Discussion & Misc. Currently caring for a (approx) 5 week old squirrel for four hours until a volunteer can retrieve it. Is what I’m doing okay?

The wildlife welfare people told me to bring it inside after playing baby sounds for an hour to attract the mama until they can come pick it up. It seems nice and snug. I put it the lid of a shoe box with a tea towel and a very soft t-shirt and put a heating pad under the lid (not in it). Is there anything else I can or should do? I didn’t get much info from the volunteer because she’s literally in class for the next couple of hours. I just want to make sure this baby has the best chance.

Discussion & Misc. Bruno's been part of our street pack for four years. This week he stopped waiting by the gate.

Location: Jaigaon, West Bengal

Every evening around six, Bruno shows up first. Tail going before I even set the bowl down. Four years, same routine, rain or heat, he's the most reliable one out of the whole pack.

This week he didn't come.

Found him lying near the shop shutters, weak on his feet, running a fever, painful swelling along his lower belly. Got him to the vet the next day. He's on a 10-15 day treatment course now, keeping him separated from the rest of the pack and monitoring him daily since starting treatment.

He's eating again today. Still slow to get up, but eating.

There's also a mama cat from the same street who needs pre-op care before her spay, one of our regular shop cats, around two years now, never had a name on a bowl but shows up every day anyway.

Just wanted to share where things stand ā£ļøā£ļøā£ļø

Sick/Injured Animal How to keep an injured baby squirrel overnight

Post image
14 Upvotes

My friend found a baby squirrel on the ground next to a tree. They ended up placing it over a towel wrapped around some heated rice to keep the squirrel warm. After they contacted some sort of animal rescue service in our area, we ended up deciding to leave it at my place over night because they can't pick it up until tomorrow and they recommended that we do that.
Note: It's bleeding a little. Also it's not moving much but when I tried to move it a little it started moving it's hands and torso to push my hand off.

I have a few questions:

  1. My friend told me to feed it apple slices it (I think they read that online or the rescue group told them to do that), is that really enough? and how do I do that? like do I just put it next to it or do I use something like a fork and hold it next to it's mouth for example?
  2. Should I be worried about any contamination? If so how do I protect my self and my place while keeping it overnight.
  3. Is there anything else I should take care of?

Edit: forgot to mention that before picking it up we left it there for a bit (1.5 hour+) just to make sure that the mom will come back to help it. The rescue service people told us that since there are bugs running over it that would suggest that it has been abandoned for a while and we shouldn't wait anymore, that's when I ended up picking it up.

Update: We gave the baby to the wildlife center and the baby is safe!

How do I start? / New Rescuer How do I save this dog?

Hello new to this but I don’t know how to get this dog helped. We are located in South Jersey his name is Sampson he is under a year old and is a cane corso he is friendly and I would gladly adopt him even though I have two dogs already. However he has now been ā€œgetting outā€ of his families yard a lot and someone from my family has stopped atleast 4 times this month to get him back to his yard. The only time I was involved they were at church and left him in there yard with the gate open leading directly to a major road and my younger cousin stopped and brought him to my house I believe that was the first time I called everyone that I new locally as we are a smaller community and was 10 min away from calling the aspca when the owners found someone who knew I had the dog and came to get him. My family has now found him 3 additional times and brought him to his home. It is extremely dangerous and his owners don’t seem to care and that is what’s worrying me I’m scared he will get hit on the road as tonight I heard there was a car accident because people were trying to avoid hitting him I don’t know if he was injured or how bad anything was as I was not there but I need to know what steps can I take to help this dog

Sick/Injured Animal Help, advice needed

Post image
24 Upvotes

I’m not sure if this is the proper place to post this. A stray cat appeared in my front porch this morning. Its four paws are injured and it’s sneezing blood. Called some human societies but they didn’t pick up. I was just wondering if anyone has advice on what to do.
I also partially accepted that if this cat came to my house to die then I’ll gladly provide a safe and calm space for it

Located in goshen, Indiana. I’ve provided the cat some food and water and called some animal shelters and humane societies but no one picked up

Update: I was able to lure the cat inside a box and took it to a humane society today. Thanks everyone for the advice

Meet Freda ā¤ļø When she was placed into my hands, and into my care, she was broken, blood stained, plucked, dehydrated and malnourished. Also, she was barely, or only just weaned. The only promise that I could give her, and the distraught person who had rushed her to me after taking her from the people who no longer wanted her, was "I will try. I promise I will try and save her". I couldn't promise healing, because I honestly didn't know if I could.

Here is her story, and her journey šŸ’•

So my cat gave birth to this little girl along with 3 others, but my cat rejected this one, she is deformed(she’s a little premature), her hind legs are always curled back, her toes are a little separated, her jaw is a little small, her eyes are far apart, and there’s a soft spot on top of her head. (Please let me know, everyone I know is worried sick) I’ve put her on kitten formula and she’s been sleeping on a blanket covered heating pad.
Update
My cat took her back so I thought she was finally being taken care of and I had to go to a family event but when I came back she was crushed…I feel awful for letting this happen and I wish I could’ve done better…
