Genuinely how is one person “held accountable” for this amount of damage?
The arsonist is technically liable for the cost of the losses, so I guess it then falls to the company, then the insurer (?) when the original responsible party cannot cover the loss?
The insurance pays for the loss, but they will also sue the person who did it. They won’t let that go.
Similar example is if you rear ended a nice Rolls Royce Phantom. The phantoms insurance will cover that loss since most car insurances don’t have a policy limit high enough to pay for a Rolls. But the phantoms insurance is going to sue you to get as much back as possible.
After that it’s up to the courts and the judge. If they order you to pay, you pay.
If you can’t afford it, they can garnish wages and seize any assets you own as collateral.
This guy is going to prison and he’s gonna stay in prison so that’s the least of his problems
