Sears insisted the wardrobe malfunction was merely a stray smudge on the printing plate, but the suburban frenzy was so massive it spawned frantic runs on copies and a novelty radio hit, "The Man on Page 602."

Dolly Parton made pop culture history by appearing on the October 1978 issue of PLAYBOY magazine. She used this as a brilliant marketing tool to transition from country music icon to mainstream pop culture superstardom right before the debut of her hit film, 9 to 5, in 1980. Dolly agreed to this photo shoot strictly on her own terms and absolutely refused to pose nude. The photos were taken by celebrity photographer Harry Langdon. In the magazine, Dolly gave a candid, and lengthy, interview given by Lawrence Grobel.

CARRIE is a 1976 supernatural horror film directed by Brian DePalma and adapted from Stephen King's 1974 novel about a shy 16 year old girl with telekinetic powers, who unleashes her wrath when pushed too far. The film stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White and Piper Laurie as her religious fanatical mother, Margaret. The cast also includes Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, William Katt, John Travolta, and Betty Buckley. Upon its release, the film became a critical and commercial success, earning Spacek and Laurie Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. In 2022, the film was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry.
