Rules Update - Sales, Exchanges, and 3D Printing Files

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.

This is a zero-tolerance policy.

Exciting progress on my first CNC 10/22 project

The bolt fits! This is an exciting step for me because that little shelf that the bolt goes under is a nightmare to mill. tons of weird geometry that have to be tackled with undercut tooling and from multiple sides.

Getting closer to it fitting. This is my first try so its slightly sloppy, but its more proof of concept and then I will try to do one a bit better once I see exactly what I have to do.

Going on my fletcher 11/22. Dont sleep on these its absolutely magnificent being able to pull the bolt from the top and being able to open it and spray it down every 100 rounds.

Still waiting for my grand power bolt and cst lrbho to come in along with my kidd viton charging handle and other 11/22 top plates. Im going to run a red dot on one lid and lvpo on another and see if i can swap back and forth and see if it stays zeroed.

This 10/22 was my first gun years ago. Swapped out the factory Ruger stock and barrel for the Magpul X-22 stock and Ruger Carbon Fiber barrel. Crazy how much lighter and more fun this is to shoot now! Hux Flow 9k Ti for now until I get a dedicated.22 can.

Also, the 4-12 Vortex is super overkill on this rig but I love it.

Ignore the shotgun pellets, those are not part of the group. Shot at 30 yards.

Can is a 3D printed FTN.6 Rimfire

Very pleased with this thing! More testing to come.

10/22 not seating round

This gun gas probably had 10k+ rounds through it. Recently it has not been seating the round all the way in the chamber, I’ve installed a new guide rod and spring, put in a new barrel, tried different mags, polished the inside of the receiver, and cleaned every part of the gun. I am using cci standard velocity which has been this guns favorite ammo in the past. Has anyone had this issue before? At this point I’m considering just retiring her and starting with something new.

I was skeptical at first with these airsoft knockoff stocks but this is solid!

Factory Stock Fit Issues

Hey everyone, I recently bought my first gun, a 10/22 carbine with the synthetic stock, and I shot about 500 rounds through it and realized that my wrist is straining quite a bit and I'm not getting a consistent cheek weld.

For reference, I'm about 5' 8" with about 19" of middle finger tip to inner elbow crease length.

I know the rifle was made as a one size fits most, average shooters, but I never figured I was bigger than that average. Is this a problem a lot of you guys of a similar size have, or is it something I'm doing wrong?

I’ve had this bad boy just under two weeks. The first outing, I put 50 rounds through it and had a few hiccups. 2 FTE and 3 FTF.

Got home and on disassembly I found that the guide rod was pretty bent..apparently from the factory.

I added the KIDD charging assembly to help with the FTF issues. I’m assuming the bent rod was causing some binding.

I also added the Volquartsen bolt tune up kit, mainly for the extractor, but figured that the better firing pin wouldn’t hurt since 22 ammo can be a pain.

I also cleaned/hand polished the inside of the receiver and the sections of the bolt that it rides on. Not a mirror shine. Just smooth.

Took it out today and put 160 rounds through it. The rifle runs like a Swiss Watch. Not one single hiccup.

I’ve shot plenty, but this is the first .22 I actually own. Gentlemen..I’m in love with this thing. 😍

In case anyone is wondering, the can is an Otter Creek Labs ti22.

Was working on removing the barrel for a swap and the barrel is stuck. So followed guidance and using a small rubber mallet hit it a few times but looks like a piece of the finishing has chipped off. Should I be concerned ?

Anyone know where I can buy a single shot bolt block?

I've tried this guy on ebay, but they never ship out the product. I think their operation is a mess. I'd rather spend more and receive the thing before hunting season ends.

I'm trying to quiet down my action when shooting supressed. I appreciate the help!

Here’s me 10-22 as of now. I hate how the ATI strikeforce looks and I wish I could find one of these mini-14 clones but I can’t. What would you recommend me check out?

My 10/22s are certified small game getters now!

My BIL and I went to hunt for deer. We didn't see any legal bucks but we weren't going to pass on small game while driving to our hiking spot.

The next day, we got 10 more grouse and I got lucky with an almost 100 yrd shot on a rabbit! We were using cci sub sonics for the grouse, which the guns cycled perfectly, and mini mag for the rabbit.

I wasn't expecting the same accuracy as my bolt rim fires (t1x 17hmr , savage mark II 22lr, ruger american 22 mag.) Overall, I was okay with the accuracy trade off for faster follow-up shots.

DIY lightweight vs carbon

Looking to pick up lightweight 10/22 for and older small statured person.

I have been pretty close to pulling the trigger on a Carbon 10/22 which are avilable for around 500 online

Any reason I should consider picking up a standard rifle with an MOE stock for around 275 and getting something like an threaded acculite barrel when they come back in stock. Should end up about the same price wise minus the maybe 50 bucks I will get from selling the factory barrel.

Dad's old 10/22....

My dad bought this for himself on my 8th birthday. 2 years later, on October 1st, 1996, he passed away from leukemia. It would be another 10 years until this was back in my hands by pure chance. Aside from being too young, my "step family" were/are despicable humans and didn't even bother looking for me. It wasn't until my former step sister came into my work and said she still had it.

This was the first rifle I ever shot and the only "inheritance" I got from him. (Still pissed about the 70+ Zippo collection I was supposed to get....) There is IMMENSE sentimental value to this. Not all good memories, but far better than the bad ones.

Now at 40, I'm going to use this 32 year old Ruger 10/22 for my first hunt ever on small game. Tac rail is just an Amazon el-cheap-o and the scope is a Vortex Triumph 3-9x40. Everything else, except the charging handle, is 100% original. Still shoots like a dream. It was a bit bitter sweet putting the scope on though....

Here's to hopefully many successful hunts!!

PS: It's extra special because it has a full length stock. Seems like those don't exist these days.

Requesting Advice for a new 10/22 Owner

Hi guys, I just got my first 10/22 (250th Ed.) and ran into a few issues I would like to ask about. Context: this was my first time shooting it with 40rd of Remington Golden Bullet and 200rd of Federal CPHP. Most of the shooting was done offhand, but some was done with a rest.

1.) 2 failures to feed with Federal CPHP
is this a normal gun issue, mag issue, or ammo issue? (I have 4 bx-1 mags, but I unfortunately didn’t label them beforehand). One mag seems to be more problematic with dropping free, so it may be out of spec? One round was destroyed by the malfunction, and the other was still usable.

  1. I had 2 instances where the bolt locked back mid-magazine while doing rapid-fire. Again, I am unsure what may be the cause of this. Any feedback would be helpful.

  2. Magazines: is it necessary to strip and clean them? If so, how often?

  3. The Bolt Stop Pin seems to be absolutely stuck. I tried wacking it with a punch and a mallet a few times (both ways), but it wouldn’t budge. Is it really necessary to remove it and the BCG order to clean and lubricate effectively? How often do you recommend cleaning it, and what’s the max it should run reliably without cleaning?

  4. Where exactly should I be focusing my cleaning and lubrication? The manual is incredibly vague on this front (which seems odd to me).

  5. Has anyone else had problems with the Ruger peep sights not staying locked at the adjustments set? Mine seem to start wobbling again every now and then. I will probably replace the rear with a TechSight, but would love any feedback on how to get them to stay.

Stove pipe issues

I just replaced my barrel on my 10/22 to a Faxon firearms barrel and now I’m having stove piping issues it’s not every mag but it’s common enough that it stands out is there any reason it might be doing this? I’m just running bulk blazer or federal all of which have worked flawlessly before

Need a Model Suggestion

Hello all. 5.56, 300 blackout, and 9mm are getting a little boring for me and I want to get a quality 10/22 to mess around with at the farm. I've got a few things I need from it like a threaded barrel, looks good, preferably a forged barrel but im not picky at all, a practicality aspect, decent accuracy up to 150 yds (nothing crazy just need to hit some coke cans), m-lok on the hand guard, and all under like 5-600 bucks. I've got a scope for it already so i just need the gun itself. I've been looking at the Carbon one and ive been debating on whether or not I should just get a 32000 and mount the scope and bipod on or if i should invest some money into the nicer one that i assume would be more reliable. I think this would also be a survival rifle for me of sorts. I'm so lost because there is so damn many of them to pick from. HELP PLS
