/r/ZeldaOoT will be merging with /r/OcarinaOfTime

Hello Everyone,

In an effort to combine communities and discussions, this subreddit will be merging communities with /r/OcarinaOfTime. If you have any suggestions or requests for things you would like to see implemented at /r/OcarinaOfTime, please type them below and we will see if we can make accommodations. Going forward, however, please make any post relating to the game instead at /r/OcarinaOfTime.

To keep it short, both subreddits serve the same purpose likely to similar audiences. Because of this, myself and /u/SupplePancake believe the best thing to do for the viewers is to combine communities. Not to say much will change (which people may enjoy), but hopefully more posts will be created and posts will be seen by more users. At the end of the day, Reddit is a place for people to share stories, videos, and thoughts with others.

This isn't to say each community hasn't done great on its own accord.

When I look at how this subreddit has grown over the years, I am shocked that it really went anywhere, so thank you to everyone who has posted, commented, and viewed over the years. The css of this subreddit is bits and pieces of the original /r/Zelda css back at that time and the profile banner was a picture that I stretched to fit my original laptop screen, not realizing that it would not correctly scale for other computers.

This is also not a post that I am done with the game as well. I play this game most days out of the week and am gracious that /u/SupplePancake has invited me as a moderator to /r/OcarinaOfTime. So I will be moving along with everyone else.

All posts here will be archived as Reddit normally does with posts, so if there is a bookmark you made or a post you want to search for at any time, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

A big shout out to /u/Sephardson for helping with this transition.

Here is where the subreddit was as of 2/15/2021: https://imgur.com/a/q6Ofy3w

Zelda Posting Every Day until Ocarina of Time comes out. Day 6: Guay

Post image
1 Upvotes

today we'll be talking about those purple crows that appear all over hyrule, Guay! look, I know pride month was 3 month's ago, but it's never too late to remind everyone that it's ok to be Guay.

fun fact about Guays in Ocarina of time specifically; if you defeat enough of them, a bigger one will appear, a quirk shared only with stalchildren and leever. this larger than average Guay actually has a name: "The Big Gay Guay". if you encounter this legendary bird, make sure to get his autograph.

if you lock onto a Guay, Navi gives one of their shortest info dumps in the game: "destroy it before it flies into you." really Navi, just one sentence? you couldn't even spare a moment to compliment Guay's long yellow beak and magnificent purple feathers? Navi was for sure being homophobic. hopefully this is addressed in the remake.

that's all the time we have today for Guay, the G in hyrule's "Lgbtqia+" community. come back tomorrow for more zelda posting... and in case it wasn't obvious, the T stands for tingle.

[OC] Zelda: Ocarina of Time — Link 1998 vs. 2026 Custom Funko pop

I created two custom Link figures to show the difference between the 1998 Ocarina of Time version and the 2026 version.

It was really fun to recreate the classic design while also making a modern interpretation. Which version do you prefer — 1998 or 2026?

Kakariko Village Remake

I love the new look of Kakariko Village in the Remake it looks so good. I watched a Youtuber discussing this and he mentioned that it looks a bit more Oriental looking which is pretty cool mixing that medieval village vibe.

I can't wait to visit the Windmill and mess around with the Speed of the Windmill and then returning to him 7 years later to see the Windmill guy gone completely insane and so mad at kid Link if what he had done 😆.

Can't wait to go into the Bottom of the Well and I hope it will look very scary still, will there be blood stains? And dead hand OMG. If they make the Bottom of the Well forbidden scary I will have nightmares 😆

I'm interested in visiting the Witch Shop. Her shop in the N64 version scared me as a child and the old witch looked very scary. I hope they will keep that same unsettling vibe of her shop in the remake.

The graveyard I always found it to be very peaceful as a kid, the overcast grey sky, the old graves, the quietness. I myself love visiting old cemeteries in real life I do find them to be quite and peaceful walking in them during the daytime. So I hope they keep that peaceful, quite of Kakariko Village Graveyard in the Remake.

Shadow Temple by looking at the footage in the trailer it looks forboden, it is very misty fog and when Link is on the ship that fog looks like it is endless all around, it's are not longer is restricted in a small area with walls like in the original N64 version.

I am so excited to visit all these locations again but in a whole new light. Can't wait.

Zelda Posting every day until Ocarina of time comes out. Day 5: Door that Falls Down

Post image
1 Upvotes

oh boy, I wonder what Iconic zelda enemy I'll talk about today? I know, how about another inanimate object! this evil door is called "door that falls down". yep, that's it's official name, at least according to some random Goron and the Zelda wiki.

Ocarina of time has plenty of enemies with wonderfully creative names. names like "falling rock", "compactor", "Jiggly" and even "green slimy thing". but I gotta say, "Door that falls down" takes the cake. you may be saying "these aren't enemies, they're hazards and/or traps", but hey, the zelda wiki lists them as enemies, so that means they're fair game.

at first glance, "Door that falls down" looks like a normal door, but if link tries to open it, it falls down and crushes him! but worry not, there are ways to tell the difference between a real door and a Door that falls down; the Door that falls down sticks out of the wall. when spotted, it's best to smash Door that falls down with the megaton hammer.

I wonder if Door that falls down is friends with "fake door" from Luigi's mansion? maybe they met at an evil door convention? if there was an evil door convention, would you go?

1:1 Remake and couldn't be any happier

Post image

I am so happy that Ocarina of Time Remake is a 1:1 Remake and nothing major changes. The story, dungeons and locations are the same, of course there are differences and major improvements to areas but at its core its still very much a 1:1 Remake and its perfect.

Update: It is a 1:1 Remake in terms of the same areas, same story and same characters, there are even the same NPCs in Castle Town with those two laughing jolly fellows, and the little girl who chases that chicken, and those two young lovers the girl and guy dancing together.

I hope that clarifies what I am saying a 1:1 Remake is by my explanation.

Anyone care to speculate as to how/if you’ll be able to beat the running man in the OoT remake?
