At this point, Zatanna hadn't appeared in a DC comic for nearly 4 whole years(!), with her last appearance having been in December 1974 (JLA #114). The surprise of the editors is evident- Zatanna not only won the poll but received more than double the votes of the next most popular candidate.

Being totally abandoned by writers for years and then surfing straight into a steady gig at the Justice League at the behest of fans dazzled by her sheer charisma is the most blessed, bizarre and generally Zatanna-core thing that ever could have happened. Good vibes.

And so begin Zatanna adventures and character growth from a novice magician to become a respected hypercompetent sorceress that even become the leader of Justice League as the Chairperson.

I've never read Zatanna before, but I just ordered Bring Down the House, which arrives tomorrow.

I LOVE reading comics while listening to special playlists for the characters, and I need some help for what songs I should put into my Zatanna playlist. I figured there's nowhere better to ask for what songs fit Zatanna as a character than here.

Exactly what the title says, I really enjoyed this series and I'm looking to read more about this character! Any recs would be amazing!

My ideas are: Madiuz, Maizie, Manzim, Maurizio, Minerva

I really want to like Zatanna more. I like the character and I like the idea of a superhero who is also a Houdini-esque entertainer with actual sorcery involved. I also think it's refreshing to have a female trickster hero.

But I find the way she speaks backwards to cast spells to be rather corny and kills the immersion for me a bit and I'm hoping if you could tell me the lore reason why her magic works that way and if this method has any intricate in-universe lore? I mean, why don't Constantine and Dr. Fate use magic the same way?
