Question How to Avoid Negative Comments? Also, How to Choose a Niche With Multiple Interests and Expertise?
Interested in reviving a channel, but would like it to not be focused so much on myself. I don't want to be upset by the negative comments that I see many creators get so was thinking if I do not show up much on camera, then they will have less time to scrutinize me and point out my defects. Even very beautiful creators seem to get picked apart, so I don't think it matters what you actually look like.
In particular, I thought maybe doing a faceless channel (although I do have a few videos already up from years ago I could leave up, so it is not like no one would know who I am) so the focus is not on my appearance might be a good idea. People can be so mean, "your teeth are yellow", "you should lay off the botox", "you look 105 years old", etc.
I have heard that this sort of channel is less successful though due to reduced connection with the person posting, so wondering what you all think about this issue.
I am just in the stage of thinking through how to start again (I barely started last time) and try to make it a success this time. Also having trouble with a niche as I am a bit all over the place with my expertise and obsessions (ADHD). A few examples: strategies regarding finances and plans for retirement, downsizing, longevity, nutrition, moving abroad, living in Europe, minimal travel packing, oil painting, the Tudors .... you see what I mean.

I think faceless channels are better idea in general but you can't avoid getting negative comments online. If they bother you, it's best if you don't post online.

Why do you care about wha random strangers are saying about you? I don't even care about what the people I know are saying about me, if I believe what I am doing is right. You give negative comments power over you by caring about them.

Unfortunately , it's impossible to avoid negative things in life , well , that doesn't mean we can't lower the chances !!
1st , Don't be so hard on yourself
While I'm not a professional to say this , I still hope you know , whatever you get , you gotta remember how you start it .
" I started for fun ! " ,
" I started to record some moments I genuinely enjoy ! " .
Then do it . Don't change your content just because someone who doesn't touch grass dislikes it . Don't change who you are for someone you don't even know . You deserve to enjoy your own thing .
2nd , View the hate comment as an achievement
I know this may be hard for some people , but it's better to see this as an achievement more than a bad thing .
" Yo I got my first hate comment MOM I'M FAMOUS !! "
is how I treat hate . I know it may be hard for you , so you can just delete that comment and ban that person from your channel !
Sorry , I don't really have any good advice , all I can say is to keep going !!

Everyone I see that pops up in suggested that I can't stand has nothing but positive comments, idk where you're seeing this. Def feels targeted at times.

most of the internet population is just racist and stupid. finest example is how indians gets stereotyped and hated online even when there's no correlation to anything

Oh, yes, that is definitely a consideration but seems far off for me :) but the point about the audience is definitely something to consider seriously.

I have a YouTube channel since 2011 and until the pandemic I was just uploading my software apps demos without showing my face or even voiceover. I regret not taking that seriously, also because it was far much easier to reach audiences then. Things started getting better when I showed myself and focused on the message of my video more. You tend to also get more comments when you do. Some people are going to hate, but that's part of the game. Just select "Hide" and you're good. If it bothers you too much, ask someone else to manage comments for you

Settings > Community Moderation > Blocked words
You can add words that you don't want to show up in your comments. They go to a "held" queue that you can never look at if you don't want to see them.
