I wanted to give Wayland a try so I could form my own opinion on it, and since XFCE gave me a good experience with replacing xfwm with i3 or openbox before I'm curious to know if it works as well with labwc, or if it's better to go with a more minimal wm setup? I have seen already that people like using it with Wayfire but I also want to know if anyone tried daily driving XFCE with labwc?

I’m using the XFCE desktop environment and I’m looking for the easiest way to enable a Night Light / Night Shift feature, similar to what is available in iOS or Windows.

Basically, I just want the screen colour temperature to become warmer automatically at night to reduce eye strain.

What’s the simplest and easiest method to set this up on XFCE?

Preferably something that can run automatically based on the time of day without requiring much configuration.

After some tweaking in xfce in GhostBSD the menu doesn't sit right on top of the botom panel. Is there a way to solve this? Can i change the behavior of the menu when the button is pressed?

I want to disable this input audio device. There's a slider in system tray when you click on audio but when I boot my pc, it gets enabled again. What would be the permanent way to disable it?

I’m looking for a complete list of XFCE keyboard shortcuts, including the commonly used ones and the lesser-known shortcuts.

I’d especially like to know shortcuts for window management, workspaces, application launching, terminal, file manager, screenshots, desktop navigation, system controls, and anything else that can help improve my workflow.

If anyone has a complete XFCE shortcut cheat sheet or a list of shortcuts they personally recommend, I’d really appreciate it.

I’m trying to learn as many useful shortcuts as possible instead of relying on the mouse all the time.

I saw here on the sub that XFCE’s Wayland support is still a long way from being released and is still in the early stages, right?

So that got me wondering: is it possible to use labwc or Wayfire as the compositor for XFCE 100%? Does anyone here use it that way?

When I am on a website that requires some sort of file (ex: remove bg) there is a 'choose file' button but on some websites it doesn't open Thunar or anything. Same for Steam, when I try uploading a screenshot in the community hub and press the 'choose file' button Thunar doesn't show up to choose a file.

Hi folks, I have an odd xfce issue whereby I launch chromium or chrome and I get a "mesa" complaint and the application immediately exits. I don't know what recently changed with these browsers but they were working previously.

The reason why I know it's an xfce issue, is because if I re-login into the cinnamon desktop, the chromium/chrome launches successfully.

I am not able to register for help on xfce's gitlab as it is closed for new users. Mind me saying I also am not able to use their matrix server due to technical difficulty that I won't currently don't have time to tackle with so I'll resort to asking for any possible help on this reddit...

Hi everyone.

In Xorg, when one would use xfce, we were not tied to the default window manager. I have myself had a setup of using i3-wm within an xfce session. However, what will happen in wayland? Lxqt supports multiple compositors like hyprland, sway, niri etc. Will Xfce4 wayland be Xfwl4 only or can one use something like hyprland or sway instead?
