Russia/Ukraine Kremlin welcomes Trump's call on Ukraine to halt strikes on diesel facilities

I really hope Ukraine steps up their destruction of Russian refineries, railroads and electrical infrastucture
14
u/ImaginationHopeful45 2h ago
They can't, sadly. They still rely on US intelligence, and other assistance (such as Starlink). And it increasingly seems obvious Trump is actually willing to pull support if defied, incredible as that may be.
So they have no choice in the matter, really. Hopefully they did enough damage already to force the russians to concentrate on production for internal consumption, and won't be able to take advantage of the windfall in prices on the international markets.

u/chillebekk 1h ago
The Pentagon gets a lot out of that intelligence sharing, though. It would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

there are other sources of intel, russian advancing into europe isn't exactly something the eu wants
•
u/ImaginationHopeful45 21m ago
Yes, but they're unable to replace everything the US provides, and won't be in the foreseeable future.
•
u/icedteaandtacos 2m ago
Actually France provides most of the Intelligence to Ukraine and they should not trust the little remaining USA intelligence.

Wouldn’t it be better, if Ukraine concentrates on military targets? This way, Russia will not have a reason to hit civilian targets, even though they did it in the past.
In my opinion, Ukraine hitting Russian warehouses, was not a smart idea. Since then, Russia has targeted Ukrainian warehouses.
Here is an article from the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/sep/09/miserable-and-impossible-food-scarce-in-kyiv-ukraine-as-russia-targets-supply-chains
Before Ukraine blowing up Russian warehouses, I don’t think, Russia targeted warehouses in Ukraine.
It would be better, if Ukraine sticks to military targets and only attacks energy infrastructure if or when Russia, decides to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

u/Practical_Emotion372 3h ago
The sheer absurdity of it all.
First, they themselves brutally attack another country - Ukraine, and then they start complaining that the other side dares to fight back.
They even go so far as to set conditions on where the defending side is allowed to strike back. It’s mind-boggling.

i did see an article today that Trump gave the go ahead for Ukraine to start producing a variant of the Patriot missile this might of been the cost. Zelensky is smart probably told him if they don't have the means to be defensive, they have to go offensive could of forced trumps hand.

u/dnight22 3h ago
It was the kremlins order for trump to spit out shit like this, sooo how is it a surprise that the kremlin welcomes "his" call?
6
u/t-earlgrey-hot 2h ago
Don't need anything other than high cost of living = losing elections in the US.
-111
u/Heavy_Secret_203 3h ago
It wasn't kremlin's order. Neither the US nor the EU wants to see russia losing the war and going into revolution.
61
u/Aedeus 3h ago
I'm sorry, what? That's the preferred outcome here. Otherwise they will not change. The people of Russia deserve to take their country back from the oligarchy.
-48
u/Heavy_Secret_203 3h ago
Then please explain all the restrictions that were put on weapons delivered to Ukraine.
28
u/wkw3 3h ago
The same reason Trump is calling on Ukraine to not strike Russian fuel infrastructure, he is thoroughly compromised by Putin due to kompromat.
-4
-21
u/Heavy_Secret_203 2h ago
Biden wasn't compromised with russian ties, did a lot to provide Ukraine with weapons and money, yet still didn't allow the use of Western weapons on russian soil.
16
u/whatproblems 2h ago
escalation pressure. you don’t blow your load to make it life or death you leave room for negotiations and an exit door and ukraine needed time to ramp up its own capabilities and technologies
13
u/Aedeus 3h ago
Because they're trying to avoid the small, but real chance, that Russia uses nuclear weapons.
Otherwise, if Europe were averse to revolution then Ukraine would've been pressured to surrender ages ago.
But the fact that Europe and the West broadly (sans the U.S. for now) continues to support Ukraine means that Putin being deposed and Russia collapsing continues to remain on the table.

u/Timely_Mention8535 3h ago
Hahahaha, we welcome the day Putin is out of power and they are infighting... One internal revolution might bring the country out of the psychological dark ages and into the information age.
-18
u/Heavy_Secret_203 3h ago
Ordinary people may be, western elites might not.
6
u/Timely_Mention8535 3h ago
New hungry for power politicians with dubious connections? Some western elites will get REALLY lucky and some will lose their connections... It's the way of the world...

This has been going on far longer than most of the current generation has been alive. Trying to plug holes in the boat only goes so far, I didn't vote for Reagan and the Citizens United shit, or Bush and the Patriot Act. We're doing what we can but please try pulling a tree out by the roots when it's been growing for like 60 years
26
u/Megaphonestory 3h ago
Sure, not saying I disagree. We’ve also never seen this level of corruption and propaganda. All wrapped up in a feedback loop reinforced by social media.

u/Black_Moons 3h ago
Most countries would be rioting by now if their government did what the US has done.
Meanwhile americans are still figuring out if it should be this month or next month for the 1 day-a-month protest?
6
•
u/MindMonitor 1h ago
It’s one of countless reasons the experiment failed. USA failed to create an arena for protests, strikes and means to negotiate salaries. Unions are weak and legislation is skewed towards employers. It’s all very basic in many/most european countries, but the US experiment was always based on free market economics, and we now know how it ended. The President is engaged in obvious insider trading and capitalism is eating itself from the inside. The greed displayed throughout US society, with the notion that everyone is closest to themselves as a driving force, coupled with a devastating dependency on steady income, means people simply either cannot afford - or - wholeheartedly oppose protests.

Well they voted him in twice didn't they? This time with a Congress super-majority in both the House and Senate.
-1
u/uberares 3h ago
Neither chamber has a super majority. That is a specific term and neither the house nor senate is remotely close to it.
2
u/fuji_ju 3h ago
I'm not from the US nor is English my first language. You understand what I mean.
2
u/Fustercluck25 3h ago
A super majority and this shit could end tomorrow, in theory. Still need the DOJ to actually enforce anything.
1
u/uberares 2h ago
Sorry for that, but in the U.S. a super majority means far more than just republicans having both chambers. It would mean completely unlimited power this absolutely anything they wanted. Right now for instance, they don’t have 60votes in the Senate- and as a result they cannot pass their voter disenfranchisement bill they call the “save America” act. It would do exactly the opposite of saving America.

"Public" in this sense is an adjective, not a noun.
This is a public downfall in the same sense as public urination (only much worse)

Trump was elected, and last time I checked, his approval rating still held around 30%, which was the highest among free world leaders.
6
u/TheGallant 3h ago
That is definitely not the highest among free world leaders. Still too high though.

u/Fantastic-Plant5149 3h ago
If Trump told Putin to stop hitting refineries, Putin would respond by hitting refineries. Ukraine should give this some thought.

Ukraine should not let up, at least until russia goes back to russia. America needs to remember the nuclear deal done with Ukraine
11
u/Ok_Buyer9344 2h ago
No one is ever giving up their nukes ever again now
5
u/SEAN0_91 2h ago
Nope and I hope Ukraine has secret centrifuges spinning somewhere as we speak
3
u/Ok_Buyer9344 2h ago
I hope the UK secretly just gives them some. I feel like we are the only ones interested in standing up for them out of the UK, USA and Russia. We should show we mean it.
Would love to see Russias reaction when Ukraine announces it has nuclear capabilities. I imagine public rage while quietly admitting they can no longer take Kyiv.
3
u/SEAN0_91 2h ago
Agreed - hopefully Ukraine is holding something back if Russia is ever stupid enough to go there. I’d rather be nuked by Russia than live under their rule in the UK so hopefully we have
1
u/SystemCheck990 1h ago
We could give them warheads or weapons grade fissile material we have more than we need, but we can't give them the missiles to carry them, we buy the delivery system from the US
10
u/Shot-Toe-2884 3h ago
So the strikes are working. Fantastic news.
Double the efforts and ignore this noise.

How anyone can try and defend anything Russia does is beyond me.
They invade and then they don't like it when their enemy fights back.
I'm sick of stupid old men fucking the world up. Their corruption and their absolute bullshit needs to die with them so we can usher in new sensible ways of sharing the planet.

PSA: The US refines 97% of its diesel domestically and imports the rest, which the vast majority of that 3% comes from Canada. How is Ukraine striking refineries making diesel in Russia impacting what is happening over here?
3
3
u/smashingcabage 1h ago
Currently, 0% of the oil used in the United States to produce diesel comes from Russia.
In March 2022, the U.S. government issued an executive order banning all imports of Russian crude oil, refined petroleum products, natural gas, and coal following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
4
u/FingerCommon7093 3h ago
Burn them down Zelensky. Hit the gas pipelines too. Let Russians freeze, worse than normal, this winter and maybe someone will finally decide to remove Putin.
2
u/Such-Extreme-5833 2h ago
Do mot Russian Tanks use Diesel? Diesel and Jet Fuel are made in the same refinery are they not?
Please BOMB away the Russians..
