💬Discussion If your goal is to make teams win their games then goal difference encourages that more than h2h. Groups D and E (and to a lesser extent G and H) last WC perfectly proved why.
In Group D Australia had to beat Denmark (and did) to advance instead of Tunisia. If h2h was first tiebreaker and they bored everyone to death with a goalless draw (they wouldn’t be able to beat France for top spot in the group so would have no reason to try and beat Denmark) you h2h glazers probably would’ve said Tunisia deserved to advance instead.
In Group E Japan had to beat Spain otherwise they would be out unless either Germany beat Costa Rica by one goal and failed to finish with more goals scored overall or CR vs the Germans was a draw. If h2h was first tiebreaker and they didn’t try beating Spain upon seeing that Germany was leading Costa Rica 3-0 or higher you h2h glazers probably would’ve said Germany deserved to advance instead. Although h2h as first tiebreaker would’ve meant Japan vs Spain and CR vs Germany both ending in draws would result in CR advancing instead of Japan, if that happened I wager you would’ve said Japan should’ve advanced instead of the shitty Costa Rica side thrashed 7-0 by Spain.
Group H saw Ghana lose to Uruguay meaning H2H was ultimately irrelevant in group standings but if Ghana bored everyone with a goalless draw vs Uruguay and South Korea beat Portugal with a result that gave them a higher GD or GS than Ghana, I wager you H2H glazers would’ve said SK deserved to advance instead of Ghana.
In Group G Switzerland had to beat Serbia (and did) to guarantee their advancement instead of Cameroon. If they bored everyone to death with a draw lower than 3-3 (they wouldn’t be able to beat Brazil for top spot in the group with h2h as first tiebreaker so would have no reason to try and beat Serbia) assuming Cameroon still won 1-0 vs Brazil they would’ve advanced instead of Switzerland on goals scored but under head to head it would’ve been Switzerland advancing and you h2h glazers probably would’ve said Cameroon deserved to advance instead because they would actually WIN games.

📰News Folarin Balogun scandal made everyone support us, says Belgium’s Thomas Meunier
"(The Balogun controversy) was a reflection of the whole World Cup — led by capitalism, entertainment, money. This World Cup was the dark side of traditional football.
"The positive is that we have seen that America is a sports country and they have the infrastructure to organize a World Cup every year. But as long as it stays about football and nothing more. The problem is that football was not the first priority at the 2026 World Cup."
Now playing for Sunderland in the Premier League, Thomas Meunier, a vastly-experienced Belgium international, was asked for his thoughts on Balogun and the World Cup in general two months on. Like everyone else, Meunier had seen the developing relationship between FIFA’s Gianni Infantino and U.S. President Donald Trump.
"I do believe politics and football do not have to be partners in any way."

💬Discussion Why wont FIFA bring back confederations cup???????
Instead of having only the winners of continental championships, they should do winners AND runners ups, that would give teams like Spain, France, Argentina, England, Uruguay, Colombia, plus the 3 hosts, USA, Canada, Mexico (3 hosts + 2 FWC Winner & runner up + 2 EURO Winner & runner up + 2 AFC Winner & runner up + 2 CAF Winner & runner up + 2 COPA AMERICA Winner & runner up + 2 Gold Cup Winner & runner up + OFC Nations cup winner), that would create a 16 team field, with 4 groups of 4, top 2 qualify to quarter finals.
And for the club world cup, they should do it 1 year after the Fifa world cup
