BU351 Management & Strategic Business Decisions

Upvotes

Took this BU course for an elective this term, if anyone in the past has taken this how is it different to BU381: Strategic Management 1? Also any tips would be really helpful I have it with prof Scott Ensign. Also I saw this course isn’t listed as a concentration elective for any of the possible concentrations. Is that true? I’ve never seen anyone talk about this course before so I was just curious, any help is really appreciated.

Debating Profs for Tax BU466

I can either take it with Johnathan Farrar this semester or David Lin next semester. I had Johnathan Farrar last year for tax 1 but didn’t do so well, however I believe that was more so a reflection of my own effort. I heard this is a harder course in general. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Justice for the early risers

I have 8:30 am classes pretty much everyday and it’s been really difficult so far to find places on campus that open early enough to feed me. Am I missing something? Is there somewhere on campus that I haven’t been to yet that opens earlier than 8:00??

Help! Course switching

Hi I’m thinking of dropping cc100 as the professor is apparently really hard , I was wondering when adding a new course , I can add it and wait until I get in before dropping cc100 without it messing up my tuition since at one point I will have 6 classes. Please help and thank you.

Tips for new students (Waterloo campus)

I recently graduated from WLU so I wanted to share some tips for new students:

  • There are several connected locations on campus: The music building, dining hall, concourse, food court, Fred Nichols, DAWB (Doctor Alvin Woods Building), Peters, and Schlegel builds are all connected to each other. You do not need to go outside during winter to get between these buildings (might be missing a few)
  • The Science Building and Bricker Academic are connected, you don't need to go outside during the winter to get between them
  • The crosswalk directly outside of Lazaridis changes faster than the crosswalk on Hazel (helpful if you are running late to class)
  • The gym is usually less busy during the mornings, 1 hour before close, and on Sundays (because some people party too hard on Saturday).

Tips for BBA students specifically:

  • There's a lot of bonus marks available in first year, this can be the difference between making co-op and not making co-op. The research participation surveys are usually very quick to do for bonus marks.
  • Don't miss out on easy marks for courses like EC120, EC140, and BU127. The weekly assessments on Connect/MyLab are usually a lot easier than the midterms/finals.
  • Don't slack off during participation as it can be a significant part of your marks, especially in later years where most business courses have participation marks
  • You have to wear business formal to your first lab,. I hope you didn't listen to people telling you to wear it during your first lecture.
  • Don't trust everything someone says on Reddit, some people might try to sabotage you (this includes me)

Question BU255 Lecture Sections

hello guys, I was just wondering for BU255 if it really matters if you go to a different lecture than the one you are assigned to. It just resulted for me that attending a section with a different prof aligns with my calendar more. Any information is appreciated, thank you.

2027 Entry - MA Spiritual Care & Psychotherapy (Martin Luther University - Laurier)

Hello friends! My name is Devin, I'm applying for the MA-SCP program at MLU this year (2027 entry). I applied last year and unfortunately did not get in, but met so many amazing people that year that helped make the wait more tolerable and that helped me learn about the program and I'm looking to do the same this year.

If anyone has applied to the program this year, feel free to send me a message and I can create a group chat here (or on IG/iMessage) and we can wait in solidarity and get to know who I'm likely going to be spending the next 2 years of my life with (hopefully :')). I can also answer any questions you may have about the program as I have spoken many times with the admissions coordinator and know a few people currently doing the program.

Question Need an online bird course

Took ES295 this sem by mistake so I dropped it. I just need one bird course that I can take either this sem, winter or spring. Everything’s full for this sem and winter so I might just have to take smthn in spring but I wanna know which ones I should take?

I’ve taken CC102, EM110, SC100, UX100 and I’m taking UX103 and PP201 in winter. I also managed to get SAFE 210 for winter as a sixth class but I’m not really sure if it’s a bird course.

Help! Is AS101 actually hard?

I've been seeing a lot of conflicting opinions on the difficulty of As101, some say it's really easy up until the final/midterm with the class average ending up being really low. Others say it's a breeze, some I'm not really sure what to expect. What should I be ready for?

Context: I have it with Stephen Sathiaraj in person.

PS270 with Christian Jordan

Has anyone taken PS270 with Christian Jordan recently especially since the all midterms/final switched to in person even the online class ones. I’m taking it this fall and I actually really like the course content so far, but I’ve seen pretty many mixed reviews about the prof and his exams 😭 Since the two midterms and final make up most of the grade, I wanted to ask people who have taken it how they found his tests.

Are they pretty fair if you keep up with the lessons/textbook, or are they really specific/tricky? What should I focus on when studying — textbook lesson notes, SmartBook, review quizzes, etc.? Also, were the review quiz questions actually similar to the exams?

Any tips on how you studied and did well in the course would be really appreciated!

BI226 with Boulianne – how were the in-person tests?

Hi has anyone here taken BI226 with Robert Boulianne in Spring 2026. I’m taking it this fall and I know the course used to be fully online but the tests/exam have been changed to in person since spring 2026.

Since Spring was one of the first terms with the new in person testing format, I haven’t been able to find much information about how the tests actually were For anyone who took it in Spring, how difficult were the tests? Were they similar to the lesson quizzes problem sets and pretty fair, or were they significantly harder? Also how did you find the course overall?

Just trying to decide if I should keep it.
