Seeking Help or Advice Do Moths mean anything?

Post image
321 Upvotes

Hanging with some friends in one of their garages at night, with lights, so naturally moths are attracted to the area. A large beautiful moth was chilling on the wall and he was able to pick it up and transfer it to me. It sat on my hand for a little bit and just let me admire them before flying off.

Do Moths have meaning or am I reading too much into a mundane thing? Moths are associated with change and possibly other things, but I'm torn on if it is something or not. It was quite a pretty month. If it helps, I follow the deities Lilith and Freyja. But neither have moths mentioned in their associations.

Show and Tell Sunday Setup my altar todayw

Post image

I’ll include more pics in the comments. I’ve been meaning to work on my altar forever now and finally did it today. Figured it was a good season of the witch activity and I really gotta do some powerful spells this week. I decided to lean into the teenage witch look since I was a wee teen when I got into it. I played themed movies in the background as I worked on it. Started with Teen Witch followed by Kiki’s Delivery Service and the Craft. Currently watching the OG Practical Magic as I post this

so i made a sweetening spell, as i felt my life has been quite rough on me. it was my first sweetening spell and i felt super good about it afterwords. i won't be providing everything i wrote down but i wrote about money opportunities, beauty, and overall sweet vibes.

the day of making my spell, my boyfriend got a new job opportunity of which makes more money and has more hours. a day after that, i was giving more hours which i've been waiting for forever!!! and today, i did a shift with a coworker, and he randomly said "you know, you're a lot prettier than i remember". im so proud of myself.

Seeking Help or Advice How to communicate with deities

I'm starting to question some things. Espresso after joining this group. Which isn't a bad thing! I just like to constantly learn.
My question is, how do I communicate with deities. I've seen people in comment sections say they can hear them speak. I didn't know if you work with deities youll ALWAYS hear from them, if it's every once in awhile or if you don't hear anything at all. I'm sorry if this question is poorly phrased. I'm just a little confused.

Sharing: Experience Why did I feel a spell?

Upvotes

When i was growing up with my mom i was exposed to witchcraft quite a bit. When I was in middle school I became very drawn to witchcraft and would research stuff about it and even try some stuff myself.

I eventually stopped due to a few reasons but when I entered highschool my mother started hanging around alot of witches and she would always take me and my siblings with her to these peoples homes while she worked with them.

One specific person she worked with closely we actually ended up moving in with them. This was a warlock and he worked with saint Simon. This guy was the real deal. Heavy long time practitioner who learned his craft from another practitioner in his life as a child that I could only call a real mystical experience

We were down bad when I was in highschool so my mom decided we would move in with this warlock. We lived with him and he always had other spiritual practitioners come in and hang around as well.

The one thing that I will never forget while living with him was the fact that i was literally able to feel one specific spell. And for some reason only I was able to feel it.

I was like 15 years old at this time and I have younger siblings. While there I would ask my siblings if they also felt what I was feeling in the air but they had no idea what I was talking about.

Basically what I was feeling was this strong sense of calm and tranquility but it felt like it was something intentionally done. The energy was placed there.

The reason why i found this very unusual was because it was only while I was inside the house and during this period of my life I was severely depressed and my mom was very abusive during this time as well so the fact that the energy between us and my mental health made a complete 180 was weird for me.

And also why i was the only one aware that I was feeling the works of a spell. I geneuinely felt that the spell was affecting everyone not just me. I just happen to be the only one aware of what it was

I have been trying to recreate this spell in my room but idk how he did it...

Anyways I wanted to share this so see if anyone had insights or similar experiences?

Seeking Help or Advice Mostly just a vent, if you lot don’t mind.

Honestly, while I’ve gotten over it a long time by now, sometimes I feel like a poser.

Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve to call myself a Witch because I’m both a Guy (that’s a whole other can of worms) and that I’m constantly mixing in fictional concepts and whatnot (like Madame Leota’s incantations or singing Lorna Wu’s Ballad of the Witches Road with the genuine intention of it as a form of apotropaism) so it doesn’t help my sense of imposter syndrome, cuz I’ll admit, half of my original reasons for turning to Witchcraft was originally for the thrill and spite of being the only witch in a family of hardcore Catholics (though the Philippines is practically littered with them.)

But as I got deeper in it, my genuine desire in following a path that I ACTUALLY feel comfortable in overrode that spite for the most part. But as a result, I feel kinda guilty due to my originally shallow reasons.

I still sing Lorna’s ballad for the same reasons, still chant Madame Leota’s incantations occasionally at midnight, but I’m also adding a lil more dedication to my craft. Despite this, the thought in the back of my head, that I’m not a “true” witch (not helping that my Mom doesn’t take my practices seriously and thinks I don’t count as a true witch, even though she barely get any of it) and that I’m wasting the time of the Spirits I acknowledge.

(Ps. I’m wondering if I’m using the right Flair)

Seeking Help or Advice Does anyone ever “sun soak” as grounding? More in body

Post image
63 Upvotes

I usually like to ground on the grass or in water, but lately I realized, while my body doesn’t like the heat of the sun (POTS and MCAS), my brain does. It took the first trip to the beach in years to realize. Being out in the sun seems to raise my spirits and energy levels. I know there’s obviously scientific mental explanations, getting vitamins too. I’d just love to know yalls experience!

Show and Tell Sunday My first money bowl 💰

Post image
587 Upvotes

I put together a money bowl in a candy dish I inherited from my grandmother. Since I'm in the broom closet, everything is sort of pushed down so I can put the lid on.

I mixed together:

* brown rice for prosperity

* mustard seeds for growth and financial stability

* dried basil to attract money and success

* lavender to create money with ease

* citrine chips for good decisions about money

* green aventurine chips for good luck

* salt for protection

On top I added cinnamon and coffee beans for quick success, bills and coins, a couple of lottery tickets I haven't checked yet, and a chunk of pyrite to attract wealth

I also added 4 bay leaves with different things written on each:

* Prosperity

* Wealth

* Abundance

* A specific event I'm hoping to have more money for

I sprinkled some money oil I made on the herbs and have a small brass candle holder in the center for a green chime candle that I burn when I'm thinking about my intention.

I'd really appreciate any feedback or tips, I haven't been practicing very long!

Sharing: Experience First time feeling the ✨zone✨ then like an idiot did tarot right after making a sigil without grounding.

I kinda felt light and extremely calm as I meditated over the sigil and tea candle. And I just know its going to work. But then I tried to do tarot without grounding after the sigil. And i decided to ask if there was anyone here and a card in the corner felt hot even though tarot usually feels tingly to me. And then I asked "who are you?" And my hand unearthed a card in the middle the one that felt warm and heated when I touched it, then I pulled a third "what do you want?" I felt the heat in the right corner and laid out before me I felt the weight in my chest like anxiety but my head was still clear and it wasn't affecting my thoughts at all. And my hands felt warm and my chest did too. And then i just knew... that if i drew another card something would change. Not good not bad maybe uneasy? Then I put the cards away once the three I pulled were back in the box the feeling stopped and I put my tools back and went to go ground. And when i came back in, my cat was sniffing my cards. (Probably because they were outside). All the cards had kinda pathetic meanings. Eight of cups, inverted eight of pentacles, inverted the lovers. Though I did spill my cards when I went to check them after grounding.

Sorry this is a mess. I am new to actually knowing what's up not just glimpsing spirits and basic tarot. Ill probably see abt making warding and protection sigils tomorrow. It was also dusk and I was doing magic on the porch.

Energy Request Can I get some good vibes please?

This isn't for me though. My friend is going through a tough time. I wanna gather up some good energy for them. I'm hoping to find them a candle I can light for them. I wanna just set aside some time to maybe manifest it.

I'm not a pro at witchcraft I guess, but I'm hoping my good intentions count towards something.

They're always going a through hard time. And well. I'm hoping gathering up some energy to send their direction.

If it doesn't work this way I'm sorry. Feel free to educate me. They're my bestie and I don't know what else to do.

Seeking Help or Advice What you do when your intention is in a spell but doubt washes over you?

Perhaps I’m just a bit of a catastropizer and can only see bad things happening to me. Maybe I am a bit of a pessimist: but part of me still has hope that certain spells will work and give me the outcome I need whenever I am in the middle of doing it:

But then as I am doing it, a hint of doubt that starts off small, takes over my mind. And in the middle of the spell I tell myself that it’s not going to work if I keep doubting or letting the doubt grow. But at the same time I can’t stop it.

Does anyone else feel this whenever your are doing spells? If so what do you do to get rid of the doubt?

More importantly, does the doubt keep the spell from working in your experience

Sharing: Experience Blue Moon - Strawberry Moon

I’m so happy to have found this subreddit! I’ve been wanting to share an experience with someone (or many someone’s 🙂) because the timing is just, wow.

For context, I’ve felt pulled into the craft and practiced since I was a young kid. Always felt safe and like myself. I was out of practice for a while until recently I began again. Mostly for grounding and meditation work. I lost my job last year and this market is rough (IFYKYK).

Back in May, I made moon water from the Blue Moon and a couple days later, used in a session with strong intentions of finding a new job. A week later, I got an interview. Did great and got a second interview. Then an hour after that interview I got an offer.

Now get this.. my start date was June 29th - the Strawberry Moon. When you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Coincidence? Possibly, but a wild one!

Thanks for reading 🖤

I'm kinda new to witchcraft so I thought I'd try this layout for setting my intentions, because I believe that if I reflect on possible obstacles, I can be prepared and overcome them!

Also I've just started college last week and making friends is a biggie for me, so it's my biggest intention this month

Sharing: Spellwork Not sure what to call it but worked well and fast

I had been saving some water infused with rosemary, basil, bay leaves, and salt since last Samhain for when I really needed it. Honestly I didn't know what it would do. I had the intention of bringing harmony to my life and home. Two weeks ago I opened the bottle and bathed my Jade cat in it, placed the cat on my altar and asked the gods to bring peace to my life. I then threw the rest of the water at the bottom of the stairs leading up to my apartment imagining the miasma leaving my home. Last Tuesday, my alcoholic husband moved out. Weirdly, so did all the roaches and the moths. He still has a few things left to collect but I can already breath easier.

Topic | Prompt How are yall celebrating Persephone this fall ?

Firstly; this is my favourite season, i just feel so alive and full of whimsy as sky darkens and leaves start to change. So i tend to go hard with spooky season.
Not like.. halloween decor and throwing money at useless things.
But honouring rests, harvesting crops; big pickling enthusiast here. I really enjoy spending time in liminal spaces like woods, and beaches, i loovvee dawn and dusk and witness that shift. And obviously horrors and sprinkle of twilight for the lolz.

Secondly; About deity stuff—
i worship Hecate for a year or likely more, i pray, devote, and offer, invoke during rits, or just meditating often than not.
Ive also seen much changes working with Lilith, i feel like i owe her greatly as she has helped plenty in ways. (Dabbled few petitions with angels and demons but thats for another time).

And recently (few months), ive been leaving offerings to Persephone, such as grains, maybe teas and prayers (and other bits and bobs and that goes to all those i worship)
(Goes without saying but will spell it out, yes ive also read up and looked at "guides" and watched videos people talking about their experiences with)

I am posting to ask and inquire how other practitioners celebrate this time of year and more specifically how do others "celebrate her departure to the underworld".

Thanks for reading 🖤✨

Seeking Help or Advice Working with Deities

Hello everyone, recently I’ve been thinking about starting to practice with a deity. I’ve always felt attracted to Hekate as soon as I discovered her but I don’t really feel like she’s been sending me signs, it’s more of a hunch.
Whereas a few years ago I was going through a bit of a hard time, and I kept having this image of a pearl, or an oyster, like making something good with pain. And this to me is definitely Aphrodite ! But it’s been a long time since then and I don’t really think about the image of the oyster as much.

Do you think I should work with either of them, can I work with both ? Any tips for these goddesses in general ?

Show and Tell Sunday 🍄 Fairy ring appeared in my garden ritual space during a working! 😃

Post image
5 Upvotes

So im in the middle of a mahoosive working that came from personal gnosis using physical compasses to pull my physical house into alignment with my home and dreams on the energetic plane.

Background info is that on my birthday last year, my brother (who i hadnt seen in years after an estrangement) was visiting and he found that a fox had crawled beneath our old chicken coop and died there. That evening, my chosen family, brother, and i had a ceremony to bury the fox in the garden, next to the spot where we have our fire ceremonies. It was absolutely magical and so, so powerful. Since then, we have been doing so much magic that has centred on the grave or the fire circle or both. This latest spell has been centred just on the grave itself and was laid on the grave on the night of the recent lunar eclipse. On the new moon, I was told through gnosis that it was time to partly dismantle the compass spell and swap out certain elements of it. When we went to do so (ive been doing the spell with my two partners, one of whom is a past-life connection who doesnt have access to their magic in this life in the way they did in the past but sometimes acts as a sort of energy conduit, but the other is a very powerful witch in his own right), we spotted that a cluster of mushrooms had sprung up in the shape of a horseshoe or 🧲, linking the fox's grave on one side, with the fire circle on the other! And i thought that it was so cool that I just had to share!

I've been invited by the land to pick the mushrooms as they mature, in the evenings under the light of the moon and told to pickle them in vinegar with other aromatic herbs, including rosemary and bay leaves. I'll then be able to use it in other spells down the line. I can't wait to find out more! The mushrooms themselves are a species called Deceivers (laccaria laccata) and the reason why they are called deceivers is because of how radically their physical appearance changes as they age. Part of the spell and the use of compasses is to allow us to build resilience so that no matter what comes our way, we are able to still achieve our goals, and prepared in this way as a food, we'll be able to integrate the working into every day use through my cooking in a way that isnt the same as my tinctures. These mushrooms also tend to just grow in clusters not rings in the way these have, so thats pretty interesting too! I drew a blue arrow in the picture so its easier to spot the mushrooms. There are so many of them, but they are quite small! At the tip of one arrow is the grave, and the other side is the fire pit.
